Specifications: Per the Cummins-Onan manual for the Microlite 2800 generator HGJBB (Spec A) that comes on the 259G and 259K (i.e., the "non-L" Travatos): 1. Oil capacity is 0.6 liters = 0.63 quart = 20.16 ounces. 2. The generator oil drain bolt torque is 6.78- 13.56 Nm (5 -10 ft-lbs) Notes: 1. When determining the amount of oil to pump out of the quart oil container, be sure to account for the amount of oil in the pump mechanism and the tubing. If you pump down only to the 20 ounce mark on the bottle, you will be putting less than the required 20 ounces of oil into the generator. 2. This oil capacity for this newer version of the Microlite 2800 generator significantly less than the 0.95 liter = 1 quart capacity of the older versions of the Microlite 2800 generator that are found on other RV's.

You don’t screw in the dip stick all the way to check the oil, so you may not have filled. Check your manual and you’ll see that you don’t screw in the stick.

Super helpful for my first go round. I also just ordered everything everything you showed. Thank you!

You must check the oil WITHOUT screwing in the dipstick. Check the users manual: "Unscrew the oil fill cap and wipe oil off the dipstick (Figure 10). Reinsert the dipstick, but do not screw the cap down. Remove the dipstickagain and check the oil level on the dip stick."

This doesn't appear to be true for all. Our Onan RV QG 2800 generator manual (12-2017 A031C171 Issue 7) states: 1. Unscrew the oil fill cap/dipstick. 2. Wipe off the dipstick and thread back into the fill neck. 3. Remove the dipstick to check oil level. 4. Add or drain oil as necessary. Keep the oil level between the full and add marks.

@@mvIntuition "Thread back in" is not the same as "screw back in" ??? A bit confusing. Get expert advice :)

Well done! Where do I find one of those ever important pump bits with the hose-what a fabulous tip for that difficult to access spot on the generator - great tip for the brush too - oh my!

Thanks for your work here. Except, as noted below, manual states not to screw in cap to check level. Not sure how much difference that makes.

The manual says don't screw in the dipstick to get the oil reading. Doesn't anyone consult their Cummins Onan manual?

Change the oil every 150 hrs or once a year. Every two years the spark arrestor needs to be removed and cleaned. That would also make for a good video.

nice video, what type of oil are your using? and would a synthetic increase the intervals between oil changes from 150 hours to say about 200 hours? or 25%?

Sorry but you should never use thread tape on oil drain plugs. Also, dont screw in the dipstick to check the oil level.
