No, Liz, you cannot cut the table legs, because if you lift the table off of the existing legs, you will see that the leg tubes are tapered on the ends to hold them firmly into the base and top. Cutting the leg would remove the taper and then it would not fit into the base or table. Replacement leg tubes are available on Amazon in various lengths from 17 to 30 inches. Measure the length of the existing legs, decide how much lower you would like the table to be and order the appropriate length. Jerry

@@LizAmazing also, I saw where you might be looking for a class A? I would not change anything too permanent on anything. I like the idea of a wooden cover on top of your range. You can have Lowe's or Home Depot cut you a piece of wood to fit, then finish it off with stain and a safe chemical sealer. If you're able to take the glass cover off and store it safely, that's what I'd do. Bathroom fixture should be an easy switch DIY. definitely KZbin or have someone else do it for you. As for the table, maybe buy a small portable of the height you want? Again, I agree with not cutting the legs. If you trade it in, the trade value will not be as much. Needs to be as close to factory as possible. The original table and legs should also be able to be stored safely under your bed? I TOTALLY love this GD 5er!!!! It would be the floor plan I'd love to have some day. Thanks for some good pointers and your tour!!! Stay safe!!!

Liz, they fixed the rear booth table in 2020 models and it now has a very easy one pedestal adjustment for height and ease of entry and exit to the rear. It should be very easy project to install the new table and pedestal instead of the two that you have. Don't know what the cost from GD would be but their new design is much more user friendly!

Hi again-- thanks so much! I am still worried a little about the contact paper melting as the folded up glass is still pretty close to the stove. I know this is an old video of yours. Really great stuff you're showing and talking about. As soon as i saw you sitting at your table looking out at the river I could see that ladder going up the back. My concern is sitting there and someone's head pops up there at the ladder as if they are climbing it to look in. I would say to have a grid made... to pop over the first 3 or 4 steps to that ladder that you would use a key to unlock it and open the grid steps back up when you NEED to use that ladder. I would not want it open for anyone to just start climbing it. God Bless you. Love your video's. Hubby and I are going to sell our 2 acres and purchase a 5th wheel. You video's really really help us alot. Thank you. Happy Trails!

@LizAmazing
@LizAmazing 4 жыл бұрын
Lynda Divine I bet you could find someone to do something custom, but you could lose all that storage. When I entertain, I take out the table entirely, and it really opens up that space. When I have people over for dinner I add a fourth chair (I have a couple folding dining room chairs onboard) and that works great.

Nice video Liz. I have been shopping for a smaller fifth wheel & have been drawn to,GD. Initially I thought the Solitude was it yet the Reflection makes smaller units that are appealing deserve attention. I looked at this model last night and thought “this is it!” Then relooking at it I wondered if one could pass the refrig/pantry when the slide is closed to get to the bathroom. Thank you for covering that as this was the only question I had last night. I see other viewers have offered invaluable input here. Thanks all for the meaningful dialog.

Hi Jim! I loved the 260RD and found it was perfect in so many ways. You cannot access the bathroom when the slide is closed. But you can absolutely get to the fridge and pantry. When I bought mine, I timed it. It's 20 seconds to open it enough to get into the bathroom and 30 seconds to close it. I am also a big Grand Design fan. Last month we traded it in for a Solitude 310GK. It is five feet bigger but has the bigger storage that (now that there are two of us) we need. I have a 2020 Reflection 367BHS. I love so much about the RV but I’ve also had a bunch of issues since first getting it in November: - refrigerator only works on propane. - toilet leaks fresh water. - propane leak. - water leak in the roof of the the bunkhouse slide-out. The dealer I purchased from has tried fixing these issues (over three months after I only had the unit for two months) but they only managed to fix the leak in the bunkhouse slide-out. Honestly I feel like Grand Design is over rated. Since owning this unit I’ve spent many hours just looking at how it’s constructed, and it isn’t really great. I have looked at Jayco Eagles that are built significantly better (better welds on the aluminum framing, better materials used for the subfloor and roof, etc). Don’t get me wrong, it’s a gorgeous unit for sure. We went with the GD over the Jayco because my wife liked the interior better. But, especially after having all of these issues, I wish I would have gone with the Jayco.

Oh my goodness. I have no idea what happened with your rig. It sure sounds exceptionally problematic. I'm so sorry you've had this experience. Have you tried working with Grand Design directly? I am not a fan of dealers so I have been mostly skipping right over them to get parts sent directly to me or a mobile tech sent out. Since I made this video I met someone on the road and now we have a new Grand Design Solitude. I have to say this step up makes me VERY happy: better construction so it's quieter inside, more insulated. Better cabinets. Better everything. And yet....I agree with you that Grand Design is not perfect. However, they are the only manufacturer I know that understands fulltime Rv living. I am never forced to go to the dealer. That is hugely important when on the road. Fulltimers can't wait months for something to get fixed. I think Jayco makes a good product BUT I was told they force their customers to go through the dealer when problems occur. Thanks for writing and I hope things get better for you and your camper.

As far as tools, a cordless drill, small compressor, and a complete hand tool set. You can drill out the plastic that should have pulled straight out of the extension, use a channel lock or vise grip to hold the extension. This layout would be absolutely perfect for me as a solo full timer - if only you could reach the bathroom and bedroom with the slides in! Since I still work full time, I'd rip the dinette out and put in a computer desk so I could work while enjoying the view, and the sofa + tv is perfect, plus look at all that counter space! How did Mango like the layout? I have a greyhound and she needs space to stretch out. Did you ever feel the floorplan was too restrictive for your pup, particularly in the bedroom?

Mango just loved that camper! It's perfect for a solo traveler with dog. So much counter space. And I timed the slides opening in and out, it was less than 30 seconds each way, so no big deal at all. Thanks for watching and happy planning!

The faucet in the bathroom sink can be swapped out with a bar faucet that has a high curved neck. These are more user-friendly as the neck is higher to get your hands under and it flows further towards the center of the sink, away from the back edge. Available at Lowe's or Home Depot, they are not an overly daunting task if you do it slowly and carefully read the instructions. (And turn off the water to the coach before you begin!!) I had a glass stove cover like yours. I didn't like it as the plastic "screws" in the hinge kept breaking. Various metal stove covers are available on Amazon.

Hi Denise! Well, until very recently I was a solo Rver. The 260RD is the perfect solo camper-- and I have the Andersen Hitch making it a snap to hook and unhook when by yourself. Now that I have a boyfriend (who has a lot of stuff!!!) I would say this camper could be a challenge if two people are fulltiming and have a lot of stuff. Paul has a mechanical background so he has a lot of tools. There really is not enough outside storage for us. But we are trying to figure it out. One thing: that rear dinette is RARE. I so love that back window and to sprawl out on the dinette!

Hello Liz, My name is Hugh I've been following your KZbin channel for quite awhile. I think you're pretty awesome. We currently have a Winnebago Micro Mini which has been great for local weekend outings perhaps a couple of adventure trips but nothing that requires extended stays. I've been researching the Grand Design Reflection and for whatever reason your 3 year old video poped up on my feed today. I noticed you were towing your GD with a Chevy Silverado half ton. We have a Chevy Silverado half ton 4x4 that I've done quite a few upgrades too and really don't want to move on from it to get a 3/4 ton. The question is were you pleased with your half ton Chevy and the way it handled towing your Reflection? I look forward to your response. Thank you

So true! I think I should start a school for women all about hitching and unhitching. Honestly, I am not the best as far as backing. I can do it, but I am really slow at it. The hitching/unhitching with the Andersen Hitch is a total breeze! With the cup (replacing the puck on the trailer) all I have to do is back up within 3 inches and it will connect. You don't even need a pull test. But whatever hitch you have, just start learning so that you can have that peace of mind that you CAN do it. Best of luck!

Contact paper is fine , however you must make sure that the burners are cool before you put the glass down. It looks fine to me. As far as the table goes , if your not using it anyway because you nave the other table. Just push it down and use it as a daybed, put some throw pillows on Iraq and you can read or watch tv. Do Not Cut The Poles! Last, the sink, that is extremely easy, but if you don’t feel comfortable and you need someone to do it for you, buy all the parts , which should be just the faucet and handles , and don’t pay over $50.00 dollars. It’s not like there rerouting any of the drains, there just putting new hardware on.

Curious on entering the bedroom when you are not camping. You mention it only takes 20 seconds to put the slide out, out to access the bedroom. But I was reading recently where you shouldn't operate the slide's if your trailer isn't balanced/flat. Have you had any problems with this or not? We really liked this floorplan because of the dinette in the back, too. Thanks Liz
@LizAmazing
@LizAmazing 4 жыл бұрын
That's what they SAY, but I asked my dealer who said it is not a problem -- other than it will rock a little when walking around. I'm sure Grand Design says that you should only have the slide out when it is leveled with the jacks for support. I would never open the slide not leveled if I was on a slope. It comes down to your own comfort level, as to what you want to do. So it's 20 seconds to open enough to use the bathroom, 30 seconds to full extend and probably 45 seconds to close it. The 260RD is an AWESOME floorplan, hope you get it!

Unfortunately I think the sweet spot is 25ft or under. A lot of my favorite state and national parks I visited in my 21ft camper van I knew would be off limits with this. We live fulltime in ours (it's a Riverstone and I do not recommend them at all), but we are stationary due to my husband's job (I don't complain because it allows me to run my YT channel and make my products, which I couldn't do if we were traveling due to weight). I am hoping that our next RV will be a GD Momentum, which would allow us to travel and I could go to craft shows around the country.

I can’t imagine towing something that big for two people. But, this is 24/7 life. I do not like long tows but maybe that’s what has to happen. I wonder if there’s something less opulent.

There is an RV out there for pretty much everybody. I started in a camper van and it was too small. Since this 260RD camper, Paul came on board and we went 5 feet longer. For us, that is the perfect size. And we know couples who somehow managed to do this live full-time in a camper van!

@@LizAmazing we just bought a 260RD at the Tampa show too. Your video is great! Just a note, I was seriously considering the AUH but was told by Lippert (GD referred me to them) that the AUH voids the warranty on your Turning Point pin box AND your chassis. If you ever have any problems with either they will not honor the warranty. As a result I've decided to go with the B&W RVK3600 hitch. It is the only B&W hitch you can use with the Turning Point pin box. On the plus side you can use the pivot feature on the Turning Point pin box and should be able to get to 90 degree turning radius. If you decide to change out to the B&W hitch you'll need a wedge for your pin box. In your Lippert Turning Point manual it shows which wedge is required. If you need any help feel free to reach out to me. Cheers!

David, I agree on the Anderson. The B W is too heavy for me. We are towing with aF150 with 1831 payload. What are you towing with?
@aflyr
@aflyr 4 жыл бұрын
Rich, is the 1831 payload from the yellow sticker on the driver door frame? I traded my F150 Limited, it didn't have near enough payload - only 1285 on the door sticker. Keep in mind that the 500lb difference between your payload number and the pin weight of the 260RD is everything unloaded. As soon as you start putting propane in the rig, batteries, all your stuff, etc., that payload will very quickly get much closer to the 2000lb mark. In addition, you have to figure in all the stuff in your truck. You, your wife, anyone who joins you, maybe a generator in the bed, hitch weight, etc. You'll probably be over your payload for that truck by at least a couple hundred pounds unless you skimp significantly. I bought a 2019 RAM 3500 that has a payload of 3871. That's a lot more than I need but I figure if I'm buying a new one might as well get one large enough in case we decide we want a slight larger 5er any time in the future. I didn't want to be right on the edge. Here's a link with all my hitch deliberations: www.mygrandrv.com/forum/showthread.php/28002-Hitch-me-up-Baby!-A-hitching-deliberation-Saga-did-I-reach-the-right-conclusion-! . Happy to talk offline if you'd like. Sooooo many details to figure out!

Hey Liz we are in our early 60s . In the market for our first camper. We need 1/2 ton towable that won’t kill our F150 5.0. Not full time camping but 4-6 mo a year on avg. we want easy to tow, easy set up & the biggest bang for our $ . Is that a TT or FW in your opinion ?

Lowe’s sells a pipe cutter to cut the legs... I wouldn’t put contact paper on the glass top... The heat from stovetop or oven may melt it and you would have a mess... Get a cutting board and cover the whole thing... something like this... www.ikea.com/th/en/p/laemplig-chopping-board-bamboo-20309828/

Hi Matthew! I boondocked across the country in my 260RD but nothing long term. Spent a night along the way at rest stops, Walmarts, etc. However, I did stay in a couple California campgrounds last fall when the power went out. The battery will go only about 15 hours, or a day at most. Fortunately it is wired for solar so that will help- or you could get a generator. Be sure to join the Grand Design Reflection 260RD Facebook page, if you haven't already.

Your next trip into town find a harbor freight store and start on one end of the store and finish on the other they have some of the best little things that even the big box store’s don’t have. But as for the plastic piece that is stuck just vice grip the shaft to a stationary object and tap it out with a drill bit that’s where the little assortment of tools from harbor freight come in handy look for what looks like dentistry tools they work great for tight spots and mostly they’re about 5 or six dollars per pack and then get yourself a quality cordless drill and a impact wrench I recommend amazon look for products by worx I don’t work for them I’m just a trucker and a homeowner they work good for someone ho doesn’t need the big name stuff like Milwaukee tools I’m subscribing to you right away by they way the pic isn’t me it’s my pug Daisey

Not sure of your level of competence with tools. Those are easy projects and a handyman or woman could quickly finish all. You may even find someone in the rv park to provide assistance. These are good learning projects if you have the proper tools; hacksaw. Channel Locks. Vice Grips. Assorted wrenches. GDesign is well built and they look to provide excellent support so hopefully your problems will be few.

@@LizAmazing I now live in a log cabin in the mountains of NC. I will be moving back to the Southwest soon. Then I will boondock for a period. The GD 5th wheel is high on my list. Outdoors is the other. You made a wise choice. imho. I like the Rear Living floorplan. Also, ask your contact at GD which facet they would recomend as a replacement with a longer "spout." They might even send you one. Good Luck. I'll watch for your post.

@@dennissprague5201 Well, I just bought a faucet for $70 that was recommended on the FB Reflections page. I SO love the 260RD floorplan. Just today I ordered a lithium battery as I am taking the first steps towards solar. I will boondock for a few days at a time with just the battery, adding the panels later-- when my wallet recovers from the battery. That alone was $950. (Plus $500 as I went ahead and upgraded converter and bought a special battery monitor). However, I read excellent things about lithium vs AGM (I had AGM in my last camper) so I'm excited to try it. Well, your log cabin in the mountains of NC sounds like a dream home for many! What a switch that will be for you to go to the Southwest. I plan to winter part of the time in Arizona. Hope to meet you on the road some day!
