Sometimes you come across something that makes you go….WHAT? How have I been RVing without this for so long. Cheap, Easy, and unmistakable when they go off. Those little screamers can prevent thousands of dollars in damage with one little chirp. Glad you got some. Best, Lee & Pam

We keep a record of repairs and improvements for our rig to do when we get back home. After getting a flat in the middle of nowhere we carry two spare tires. We have fire extinguisher either side of our kitchen area figuring the kitchen is the most vulnerable to fire. Good job on the video.

Hi Sylvia! LOL. Thank you. KZbin won’t allow the active links in the description, so you just have to copy and paste it into the browser. We also have a link in our About Us section. We tried to make the best of a rainy day and decided to just turn the camera on and share our advice. Next time we will tackle RV Myths. 😀

Hi Wayne. Thanks for the support. We don't do a lot of these style videos because we always said, there are thousands of people giving the same advice. We've seen a few of them over the years and they always focus on a lot of superficial concerns and not really the basics. Recently, we sat down and thought about what really matters for anyone entering the RV community. Nothing beats experience, but we hope that our advice helps others. A few days ago our rig shut off due to voltage issues with the park. Turns out our neighbors bedroom AC unit and microwave went out as a result. He told us he learned his lesson and went out to get an EMS/surge protector. After two years on the road, we only have power issues in the Summer months when the electrical draw surges due to increased demand. Besides the random electrical post being wired backwards (Reverse Polarity) due to the maintenance guy being new on the job, we haven't had any real issues. We will look into making more videos like this as we continue. Thanks again and all the best! Pam and Lee.

The most likely reason your bulbs are burning out is the bulb filament is very fragile after the first time you turn on the light and get the bulb hot. The driving and shaking in the trailer damages the bulb filament and causes the bulb to burn out.
@discoveryboundrv
@discoveryboundrv 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Earnest. Great Tip! We included the bulbs, because most RV's nowadays are starting to include the convection oven microwaves and we are NOT alone with the whole bulbs burning out issue. We usually get about 2-3 months from the bulbs with regular usage. We have a drawer full of those Microwave light bulbs in it because they are actually hard to find in most places across the USA. It's very typical for us to walk into a Lowes or Home Depot and the Microwave bulbs are the only ones out of stock. We are sending our apologies for anyone in the Myrtle Beach Home Depot area because we took the whole box. LOL. We might actually start trying those new LED bulb versions when we run out and see how those work. Thanks again and safe travels. Pam & Lee

Never heard you bring up Ur fire place, It is a space heater, works good used mind often and ur already paying for the electric save ur propane.
@discoveryboundrv
@discoveryboundrv 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Derek! Great Tip! The space heater is a hidden gem when it gets cold. Propane tanks can be very difficult to get filled sometimes. We have been to plenty of places that ran out of propane, or had lines so long that it wasn't worth it. The Houston Ice Storm that we got caught in taught us a huge lesson in being prepared for the cold. We actually keep an extra space heater under the bed just in case we need it. Thanks for sharing. Best, Pam & Lee

Ya'll are right. Many need to watch and heed all the tips you have covered in this vid. So many of us learned the hard way. We started RV'ing around 2002, and have experienced all the things you have covered, plus a few more unusual things. I have learned our RV's inside and out, and it is good knowledge to have. Ya'll have a very good way of communicating all this, and your videos are entertaining and helpful. Keep up the good work.

Thank you! We love to share our tips with others in hopes that our mistakes can be a lesson to others of what NOT to do. This is really our first try at making this style video. We weren't sure if our message would be clear or not. We hate to make videos that have already been made hundreds of times. That's really why we don't make RV Setup or Black Tank videos since it seems to be the going trend. LOL. Experience is ALWAYS the best, just like you said. Learning it the hard way can be a costly mistake but a lifelong lesson that you will remember. Thanks again for the great support and all the best from all of us here. Pam and Lee

Yes! Great video! Suspension and tires! I added the MORryde SRE-4000 with the wet bolt kit. It makes a huge difference. We also got rid of the “C Bombs” and got the GY Endurance tires within two months of getting our fifth wheel. I’ve been burned once before with cheap tires. The flux capacitor was a great idea as well. Safe travels guys.
@discoveryboundrv
@discoveryboundrv 2 жыл бұрын
We have the CRE-3000 and we will be upgrading to the SRE-4000 with the cross beam support. The CRE-3000 gives us 3 inches of travel (plus leaf springs), but upgrading to the SRE-4000 will give us 4 inches. Independent suspension isn't always the best answer for suspension and we feel the SRE-4000 is the best all around value. We aren't fans of the 14 ply C-Bombs because the Good Year Endurance tires are so easy to find and they are also Made in the USA. We don't try to make tires last, we change them out regularly. Like we said, Low Maintenance Cost but High Repair Cost when they fail and take out the back end of the rig. We laugh at the Flux Capacitor, but the concept works. LOL. Safe travels to you as well and all the best. Pam and Lee.

It was nice meeting you both today. So... I decided to stay at the koa after I got the window seal replaced. They told me FULL, no spots available. Fortunately there actually was one spot that is too small for everyone else. Here till Monday. Enjoyed the video and subscribed. Great advice too. One of the best knowing you rig. when went looking for our next new rig we consider a 5th wheel instead of motorhome and started looking and my husband said that our Ford F-250 might not be big enough for the size rig we want and as we had been full timing for a few years in a motorhome. So one of the RV sales tried to convince my husband that unit we were looking at our truck could handle it my husband looked at him and said that rig needs a 350 to tow it really safely and not max the truck out. I wish people could trust finding all RV sales would be honest but that’s not the case. And my husband added stabilizers to all our motorhomes old an than the new one made a big difference when you were passed by a 18 wheeler and in the some wind. Bad wind get of the road lol. Thanks Pam and Lee wish we could make your videos a must watch for new RV’es or anyone going full time.

Super informative as always! We literally took notes! There's an awesome sale on the LevelMates and we're thinking about getting the Pro+ but wanted to get your thoughts on if you think it's worth the added expense--it's not listed in your Amazon store. Thanks in advance!

Anything that will help you level your rig is worth it. Especially of there is a sale. We don’t have it in our store because we have never used one. We will totally get one eventually. Might even use your experience to guide us. 😀 Our rig does a great job of leveling. For us it really just comes down to costs. Full time family travels add up quick. LOL. That’s why we don’t have snap pads either. We have a wish list and a needs list. You can guess where the Level Mate Pro and Snap Pads are. Hope this helps. Lee & Pam.

Great video full of terrific advice! We really liked the water sensor. That would have been very helpful last summer when our kitchen sink started leaking after traveling over a VERY rough road. We had no idea until we went to get a pan from under the sink. Well, our big pot caught the water and contained it so no damage. Everything was fine until we went over that rough road. Safe travels, y'all! Bob and Dottie

Me and my wife just yesterday purchased a 30 ft travel trailer with regular leaf spring suspension. This mite be a dumb question to you guys but would you recommend up grading the suspension to a equalizer type suspension as one of the first upgrades? And what mite y’all also recommend as a first thing for a new trailer? We currently have a smaller trailer but usually just stay local. But now with this new trailer we plan on traveling greater distances and would love some experienced feedback. Even though we have some experience I’m a rookie when it comes to real travel. I just watched this video and it was full of great information for me to consider. But what in your expert opinion is one main thing to never forget? I hope my questions weren’t rambling but im a little nervous about hitting the big open road. Thanks for all you and Pam do for RVers... i no I appreciate all your great content.
@discoveryboundrv
@discoveryboundrv 2 жыл бұрын
Hi John! First off, Congratulations 🎉 on the new rig!! Pam and I are excited for you both. If your travel trailer does not have an equalizer then it’s only a matter of time before the leaf springs break. I would have never thought of that until last month when we went through all of this. Think of it this way, for about $500.00 or less your new trailer can be equipped with 3” of travel more than what you currently have. That would add 3” on top of your leaf springs. I wouldn’t go more than that for a travel trailer unless you go above 15k pounds. That’s a whole different weight issue. My suggestion would be the MORryde CRE-3000. Bottom line, the roads of America will destroy your suspension. I would spend $500 on an equalizer set before anything else because the goal is protect you from a bent axle. Axles are built to order and take over a month to receive if you’re lucky. Everyone camps differently, but the main thing to never forget is “why you are traveling!” Keep that close and it makes everything else fall away. Pam and I travel to share experiences with our family. Traffic looks the same in every state. LOL. Safe travels and keep us posted on the adventures. Lee and Pam.
