FYI there are more amazing free camping spots just north of there at South Carrizo Creek and Bow Willow. There is a small store just past the air strip at Canebrake Canyon about 15 minutes away that has wood and other camping supplies between October and April. I love the Canon Sin Nombre, the slot canyons are fantastic!

Fun! We were headed this way at Christmas, but changed plans to meet up with friends. Great to hear there are so many free places and fun to see your Xterra off road! We have a ton of Baja miles on my old rusty Xterra, but it's running strong. Loved, loved, loved your nighttime star shots ~ WOW!!!

It's been so fun having the 4x4 capability, definitely a good investment for us! Baja would be awesome for it -- hope to explore there maybe next year. So glad you enjoyed the starlapses ☺️ definitely a labor of love but oh so worth it!

The night time time lapses were gorgeous. What did you use for it to capture with that low light. The stars were so crisp! ❤️

Thank you! I love capturing those! I shoot it as still frames with my Nikon D7000. I still have to lighten quite a bit in Lightroom but I think it all works. I appreciate the kind words!

Fan fact:boondock comes from the Tagalog word bundok which means mountains.its was used by the US military during Philippine-american war in the late 18th century to early 19th century.

The desert looks awesome and free parking is always a bonus in my book. So how do the dogs find the heat or is it a lot cooler there in the winter? That was some night sky by the way and a nice hike out but never good news to see a warning like come onto your vehicle, although good news to know it was what you were expecting. Palm trees in the desert looked good and unusual to see, but hey, what do I know, we have neither in the UK lol, cheers Alan
@WanderlandTravelers5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alan ☺️ the desert is much more mild in the winter, a great place to visit in the cooler months, especially when much of the country is a lot colder! The palm trees were a delight for us to see as well 😁 cheers!

What year is your Xterra and how/are you towing it? I have a 2005 Xterra and wanted to know.
@WanderlandTravelers5 жыл бұрын
We've got a 2010 manual transmission Xterra which can be flat towed behind the RV, the automatic can not be. We referred to Good Sam's list of towable vehicles to be sure, since it can vary so much by year and transmission type
