Thank you Kenneth!! We agree. Walkie Talkies are a no-brainer. We won’t tell you that they were in the truck the whole time just sitting there waiting to be used. 😀 Towing 43 feet of RV has its own unique challenges. As much as we wish it was….this isn’t the Hallmark Channel. LOL. We like to tell the whole story so everyone has a chance to experience it as we do. We love RVing and we love the RV Community. We want to give back as much as we receive from our neighbors. The infamous RV Newbie stage lasts a long time. We hope others can learn from our mistakes. Thanks again for the warm support. All the best from all of us here and safe travels! Pam & Lee

In 1954 just a few months after we got married my husband got shipped from Fort Lewis Washington to Germany he got 30 days to go see his mom and dad we down 99 to Bakersfield and picked up Route 66 which we stayed on to Albuquerque. At the time didn’t realize what a great memory that was going to be. Interstate 10 between Tucson and Phoenix was a wash board I was really dreading opening cabinets and it was as bad as I figured. Another awesome video I give you kids a absolute 100 percent thumbs up 👍. My brother was a 18 wheeler all his life and I always told him keep the dirty side down and shiny side up. I am saying it to you some people don’t know what it means if not ask me.

Just binged watch season 2, trying to catch up. :) Such great scenery and some laugh out loud happenings. Unless there is a functionality problem with your garage door that I can't see, if I were you I'd cancel the order on the new door and keep the "personalized" one you have created. It tells a story and provides a memory that a brand new one will not provide.

Mississippi is a beautiful state and we had a blast. The roads in Memphis were definitely one for the record books. It ranks close to Louisiana roads. LOL. Hey guys , we would highly recommend getting a Garmin RV 890 as it will keep you away from things like low overhangs. Also, 13' 7" seems to high. Have someone check the height of your 5th wheel and if you have air bags in the back, you may want to lower them. After we had our MORryde independent suspension and disc brakes installed we discover the 5th wheel needed to be lowered and the pin box also needed adjustment. We were at 13' 7" as well and got back down to 13' 4". @WestsontheMove
@discoveryboundrv
@discoveryboundrv 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete and Lisa! Love that you guys got the independent suspension. Hope it helps with the rig as your adventures continue. We have checked the height multiple times and we are a smidge over 13’ 6”. We don’t think it’s too much of a major concern, but we do raise our eyebrows on 13’ 7” bridges. 😀 Thank you so much for the GARMIN reference and user confirmation. If you guys haven’t seen any issues with it so far then it must be a winner. We will definitely check it out. Might wait to the Tampa RV show and try to get a better discount. LOL. @discoveryboundrv
@discoveryboundrv 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve. Congratulations!! You will love it. We run the F-350. They both have the same towing capacity but we went with F-350 dually due to the payload. Since the F-450 is heavier, there is less payload. I would recommend the F-450 for anyone towing over 20k pounds since the brakes and tires are a little larger. Fully loaded, the 377 doesn’t reach 20k pounds so a 450 would be a bit overkill. With that said, The little boy in me would always choose the bigger F-450 but Pam just shakes her head at me. LOL. Can’t say enough about it, we love it and you will too. Keep us posted on your journey and travel safe!!

Two suggestions. 1} I do NOT trust any GPS. I use the Motor Carrion's Map book You can get at any truck stop or Amazon. It highlights all roads that semis can travel on. If they can go I can go. 2 } Purchase Snap Pads for your levelers instead of using boards.

Thanks for the tips and well received. We will definitely pick up a trucker map at our next truck stop. With what you guys have learned so far about your rig. Would you go with another North Point or would you consider going with another brand ? Me and my wife love Jaycos she loves the Eagles but we also love the looks of the North Point but we only see videos of them. Id love to no what you think of your overall experience owning a Jayco. Also ... if you ever come to Ct we have a beautiful Bass Pro Shop in Bridgeport and a huge Cabella’s in West Hartford that are right off the interstates.
@discoveryboundrv
@discoveryboundrv 2 жыл бұрын
So glad you asked. We are not brand centric. We are quality and longevity centric. Because of that, the Jayco’s were hands down the best cabinets, finishings, and value for re-trade. The last one was the most important because you want to buy something that is already in demand in case you need to sell it. The Eagle offered a great package but the Northpoint was by far the best value. Pinnacle was too excessive and too many electronics will just cause you more problems. If we had to do it again, we would do the exact same thing. Northpoint. Jayco is not all roses though. Customer service could use a touch up but again we wouldn’t change a thing. The Jayco Northpoint Facebook group is the best. Just our two cents. Hope it helps and good luck. Pam said you guys have great taste in RV’s. 😀👍

Great video, love you guys. Question: why were you pumping your trailer brakes down the bumpy road? Newby RVer here who loves to learn.
@discoveryboundrv
@discoveryboundrv 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Maria. Great question. We only have experience with 5th Wheels. When you are traveling down the interstate big bumps in the road (especially bridges) will cause your trailer to “buck” like a riding horse. Basically, the trailer starts an up and down motion that is different than the truck. Using the trailer brake will essentially pull the trailer away from the truck and quickly dampen or stop the bucking. It actually happens quite often as interstates are different across the USA. This video showed a stretch of interstate that was one for the record books. 😀. Hope this helps and travel safe.

I have found that most large cities have freeways in horrible condition. On the up side we have found most interstates out of the cities are very good. The biggest problem I see is that even new and nearly new interstates can be horrible to drive on too. It's terrible construction methods. Some seem to curve up at every joint, some are wavy and the bridge joints aren't flush. There must be a lot of payoffs being made for this crap to pass inspection.

Memphis and (even worse) West Memphis are among the worst cities in the South. The roads are tore up, the bridges ancient and the drivers are sobs. I wouldn't dream of living there. Visit Sun Records... although parking a dually is tough... visit the (former basketball arena) Pyramid/Bass Pro Shops, leave town and never return. I am assuming that you were headed to the Jellystone RV Park in Mississippi for the kids... and the closest Costco. Tom Sawyer RV Park in West Memphis is right on the Mississippi River where you can watch the barges go past, but you can also see the barges from the Riverside RV Park in Natchez Ms / Vidalia, La., where it is slightly more civilized.
