This week we are doing some basic speed tests on a TravlFI 4G LTE XTR router and a ConnecTen 5G router.

In full disclosure, the 5G router should always run circles around the 4G router, but why is the 5G router from ConnecTen less money up front to buy and less money per month for much faster speeds? I don't know! We contacted TravlFi to see if we could test their new 5G router and they declined, maybe after this video we can make that happen . People want and deserve to know what the cost vs value is for mobile internet systems.
If you are shopping, both systems work, both systems are reliable, but one is certainly faster for less money.
Chose wisely!
I have used TravlFi for 16 months and it works fairly well. The ConnecTen we have had about 6 weeks now. In every case, the ConnecTen router has dominated the speed tests, but comparing a 4G to 5G has it expectations.

for further info once the connnecten system finds att it will not change from it unless its powered down or you call them to change the provider. They don't allow you to choose yourself. it mostly sticks with the first provider it takes.

My bad! ConnecTen (as of this filming doesn't have an app, but the 800 number gets to a live agent that will always switch it for you. Rumor has it that App development for Travlfi is complete and ConnecTen has been working on it for a while. I just checked and didn't see anything but it's the way of the future. The ConnecTen router (mine) will rescan if unplugged for 30 seconds and plugged back in. It's a true 3-4 minutes to see it change. Auto scan measures each carrier for signal quality and compares them to select the best. That's was tech support said on a call getting info for this video. Which do you have @2CANSAM1970 ?

@@ThreeDayRV I don’t have any I just got a friend setup on connecten in Texas and help with support for it. I’ve been in IT for over 25 yrs. So I’m just persay hands on with connecten a lot and see and know the issues it has even more so then their support at times.

@@2CANSAM1970 I just received the brand new TravlFi router today! the 5G unit, so we will be setting it up and testing that shortly, watch for that one. The ConnecTen unit I have is great here in SW Michigan, Crazy fast! We will test the New one from TF this weekend. Stay tuned!
