Great points about why even if you don’t boondock that a solar, battery, inverter system is so useful. We are moochdocking in Nova Scotia right now. Their 15 amp breaker keeps popping. Thank goodness for our lithium, solar, and inverter. We put ours down to 10 amp. Had to put fridge and water heater on propane. We have a Microair too and want to our one on the second air - though we hardly use both. Wow. Our solar system put in by Larry, we automatically click over. What a difference. Mooching has its pros and cons. You sound like you got a handle on it. Alice

A couple of things to point out. You can get a Y adapter so you can plug two different extension cords on two separate circuits giving you 30 amps (2 -15 Amp circuits) also using heavier duty extension cords you won't lose as many amps. Doing both of these things should allow you to use your ACs longer. Also you should have the genstart set to turn on based on state of charge rather than voltage level.

Thanks fo the tips! The Magnum AGS Stand-alone model only connects to a 12 volt monitored component, so there really is no way of it knowing SOC. In our case, I connected the wire to the 12 volt constant wire to the water heater switch.

Wow, thank you so much for this video. It perfectly describes your objectives and walks us through the solutions. I have a Winnebago Travato with 2 AGM batteries. I have purchased 4 battleborn batteries and the same 3000w inverter. An engineer is going to upgrade my camper with these products in a few weeks. Your video gave me confidence that this is the right way to go. Battleborn staff have been wonderful by the way.

That's a cool system. I wanted a AGS in my next rig but it was not to be. I cannot get to the T-stat wiring to add the Onan AGS. Winnie's are great with their "one place" area unlike others that make it impossible. I've got a 50A rig with two Coleman 13.5BTU power savers and run both on 30A service; they draw 10A each. Since we do a lot of dog shows I use the Hughes Autoformer that boosts up the voltage. At the last show, the voltage dropped to 104V inside the rig the Hughes kicked on and it went to 122V and the AC's dropped .8A in draw. We watch everything on the Power Watchdog bluetooth app. The Hughes has saved me a number of times when we had to run 50'-150' for power giving me the needed voltage to safely run. We also have a MarCELL (by sensored life) that notifies us of out of spec temp and on/off power via cell texts. This was we know the dogs have cool temps and the power is on. I highly recommend both of these as add ons to your system. But wonder if you would really benefit from higher shore power voltage based on what you are running? Your video was awesome and gave me something to think about since most of the dog shows we do only have a single 20A service - that trips A LOT - I could put in a system like yours so I can run both AC's. I need to check out that AGS you have and see if I can wire it in without access to the T-stats. Thanks for the video it was great.

Thanks for watching! Your setup sounds pretty good. The Magnum AGS Stand-alone version does a temperature sensor built into the remote switch, so no additional wiring is needed. We also have a Temp Stick that monitors coach temps via WiFi.

Brian I noticed you have a code on your Progressive industry surge protector (PE7) that is the Hertz your line frequency ???
@LyfUninterrupted
@LyfUninterrupted 3 жыл бұрын
Nice eye Scott. I did reset the surge protector and all is well. Not sure why the PE7 code came up. The PE code means there was a previous error that caused the surge protector to cut power at some point. Our Victron Inverter reflects a steady 60Hz as well.

Been a lurker of your channel for a bit. Got a bit of an off topic question. If you had today’s modern technology back when you were raising your kid(s) and if in the same financial position you are now would you guys have took the leap and full timed with kids when they were young for at least the same amount of time you have now? I’ll Try to ask longer question next time 😉

I thought an ac soft start was to reduce the startup current of the ac. Yours seems to cut the run current and increase the startup current.
@LyfUninterrupted
@LyfUninterrupted 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! A soft start turns the blower on first, then the compressor thereby reducing the startup amperage by 60-70 percent. The rear AC startup current you saw was 7 amps for the blower, then about 14 amps combined for the blower and compressor, then dropped down to about 9 amps steady-state. The front AC without the soft start has a startup/steady-state amps draw of 13 as both the blower and compressor kick on at the same time. Hope this helps.

Which Automatic Transfer switch did you end up with. I started following you once I found out we have similar coaches. I have the 2008 Winnebago Sightseer 30b. I have the Victron gear like you, Multiplus 3000, MPPT and the BMV-712. The once difference is that I sold off my Battleborns and made my own 540AH battery bank using LifePo4 cells I purchased. BB were great but too damn expensive here in Canada to add more to the capacity so I decided to build my own and have not looked back. Same safety, performance, more capacity and a hell of lot cheaper.

Brian, do you have an absorption fridge? If so, how does it perform in those hot temperatures? I am looking at changing to a 12v refrigerator to get better performance.
@LyfUninterrupted
@LyfUninterrupted 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Larry. Yes, we have an absorption fridge. There’s is a company in Shipshewana, Indiana that makes 12 volt retrofit kits for them. It’s called JC Refrigeration. Ours still performs pretty well on propane though. The key is keeping them defrosted.

Very nice. using 4 batteries to get 4 hours, that's pretty awesome. what size air conditioners do you have? I have two 15k domestics. and I am in the middle of building a Victron system with 6 BB batteries. How much Solar (if any) do you have??
@LyfUninterrupted
@LyfUninterrupted 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Greg! Our AC unites are 15k as well. Our coach only has 6-100 watt panels, but the Victron 150/45 MPPT Smart Solar controller works wonders with the small amount of solar power feeding the batteries. A great marriage for sure. Thanks for tuning in!
