Hey Kevin, your idea for the left/right camera mounts is brilliant and I used your design. Of course the product has changed slightly, they improved the side cam mounts (metal not plastic), but lowered the quality of the TV mount part. The version of the display mount I received was nowhere near as sturdy (the side mount parts (not used) didn't change, just the back mount). All in all and excellent DIY video - Thank You, I just finished my install on a (2005 Voyager 33v, w22). See ya on the road - Ken

Hey Kevin, one other thing I did, cut the end off the cable that went to the old sony monitor, and spliced in a pigtail that will connect to the new system. That way I didn't have to run another cable. Did that at both ends. The old cable has red and black, power and ground, white, audio and purple for video. The pigtail I ordered from ebay has red and black, white and yellow. Yellow to the purple for video.

Thanks for the info! I also have a Sony Monitor and would love the know the pigtail pic or catalog number so I can use the existing rear camera wiring. Please forward this info to m...I am ordering my system tomorrow! Thanks! Jeff

Kevin - I have the very same system installed on my Class A. At first I thought it had great video but, in the bright daylight the cameras appear washed out on the display. Adjusting the brightness and contrast helped but they are still unusable during the bright daylight. I most likely going to spend more money and get a better system that works for me.

Sorry to hear that mine are still working great, if you like the DVR system can you just upgrade to better cameras?

At 24 min you jumped from running the cable down the frame rails to the cable hanging out were the camera mounts. How did you get the cable from underneath to the hole. Mine has a 6" cavity from top to bottom across the back and on mine the old cable was built into the ceiling and I can't use it to pull in a new cable. Great video.
@ktoutdoor Жыл бұрын
I dropped a string down the hole, then tied it to the new cable and pulled it up.

Great detailed video, I've been wanting side camera and the back up camera on my (new to me) 2006 W24 isn't the best. I do have an off topic question. That whine you have that changes with RPMs, is that power steering that Workhorse says is normal noise? I have that whine and thought it was the Allison transmission at first but after reading posts on IRV2 and seeing your power steering fluid/filter change video, I was going to do the PS fluid/filter change (I already purchased the filter and fluid) to see if it helps, RV is at 54k miles and inspection found no leaks. Most everybody on IRV2 says its normal power steering noise for Workhorse per Workhorse (still plan to change filter/fluid), just would like your input on it. I've been saving many of your videos to fix/repair things on my RV. They are so helpful!
@ktoutdoor2 жыл бұрын
Yes the wine can get very loud at 3800 RPM and you will notice the tune will change if you move the steering wheel slightly I think its the rushing of the power steering oil flowing past the bypass ball and spring.
@Maidendg2 жыл бұрын
@@ktoutdoor Thanks, I read that people get used to the noise and don't really notice it after a while. I'm just happy its nothing majorly wrong. Have a good day and keep tinkering...and filming! Loved the window tint on plastic for darkening your screen.

Nice system with the side cameras, great install video Kevin, just my personnel choice maybe because that is how my current back up camera is, I like a long view, I can see my TOAD and back behind it, I can see if vehicles are passing. Can you adjust the viewing of the rear camera?

I have ours adjusted low so we can see the bikes when they are loaded incase one ever tried to bounce off...yes I can adjust it for a much longer view if needed.

Hey Kevin Love your videos. I installed this system using a lot of the information you provided. I painted the outer shells of the side cameras to match the lower bout of our RV. However I do have one problem. The rear camera acts normal when I shift into reverse, BTW on my 2004 Winnebago Brave 34D the reverse activation wire was green, but I found it using your information. I get a full screen everything normal. I hooked up the left and right turn signal trigger wires and my unit goes nuts. When I activate a turn signal, the display goes to that side then starts flashing on and off in time with the turn signal blinking.....any thoughts? Had to disconnect the trigger wires for the turn signals, think it could be a problem with the display? Anyway, thanks for the great videos really appreciate them. I have installed both the Transmission Temp gauge and Fuel Pressure Gauge from MaxTow like yours, love them both, I have the Workhorse chassis, with the big 496 CI Chevy, and tow a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Also installed the ScanGauge II like yours love it also

James, may I ask how you attached the sensor to the transmission, and what did you do to prevent rain water and wind from affecting the sensor from providing false temperature?
@jameshaney7011 Жыл бұрын
Per our conversation changing the settings from 3 seconds to 6 seconds solved the flashy flashy problem. Per the photo, oops Sorry Larry you didn’t get the photo, and I don’t know how to attach it here, sent you remove the inspection bolt next to the transmission filter oops catch the little bit of fluid that comes out maybe a pint, screw the sensor into the hole and you don’t have any worries mate 🤠
