I wish that trailer and RV manufacturers would agree to sell the base unit without cabinets, carpets, linoleum, etc. and the buyers could finish how they want. It would be less expensive for the buyer and less garbage to the landfills. Great job, you two!

To each his own an it looks like you guys achieved that in this remodel. - Now to address the elephant in the room. LOL!!! - Why in the world would you buy a new/newer RV just to basically gut it, remodel to your style and make it worth a third of its used resale value. - Not judging you guys but the only way this makes sense is: - 1. This is your forever RV 2. You got a ton of money 3. It was done for channel content. - Those are three reasons that make sense imo. - Awesome Channel you guys an I hope you all have many magic moments in your new RV!!!

Not sure why people give a hard time for them renovating a new RV. They are living in it full time and want it to feel like home. Unlike a house, you cannot go and buy an empty shell. Very few companies that actually do custom builds are waaaaaay more expensive and fall under the luxury quality and are super heavy as well. They ended up with a brand that is known for having good build/bones/structure/insulation (the stuff you are really paying for) and then replacing the cheap filler (couches, cabinetry, flooring) with a more modern look that does not look like a typical outdated rv interior. If you go with a used RV that you really want to live in full time and renovate, then you better be looking at luxury lines which are still pricey, look like a grandmothers house, and are very heavy which then would require an upgraded truck to at least a dually.

An rv company is okay with renovating rv's wow, when I was looking for mine I had to very careful as to what I would say. Many of the dealers were not okay with renovating, so I just said it would be for my friends and I to camp in by the lake. Luckily I found and bought an rv with a popular floorplan that I was able to get a lot of help and ideas online. I haven't fully renovated yet but I did tear out a lot, and painted almost everything white and it makes a huge difference in a small space. This idea makes tiny house living a bit more attainable for someone like me who works fulltime. Thanks for sharing this was great!

How will the tiled shower hold up from towing and not crack and leak? Seems that the flexing from towing would not be good for it.
@jonathonschmidt15094 жыл бұрын
So I did a quick research because I hadn't thought of that. Apparently you need to make sure that you use flexible adhesive/grout and tile. Something that will withstand the bends and vibrations. So it is possible. I can't answer if they did that, though :)

were you worried about the tile cracking while moving the RV? or adding to much weight to the axials with a renovation? It looks like you didn't gain that much more counter space for all the work, money and effort that went into it. what did you do with the old Fridge? Did the camp site let you put all those building materials in their dumpster? Is there anything that you spent money on that you wish that you had researched more or hadn't used ( and why)?

Great job. Did yall consider the overall weight added to your rig? Have yall noticed a difference when being pulled? Are the items in the dinette area heavier than the recliners and if so does the weight affect the operation of the slide out?
@MandyFierensphoto5 жыл бұрын
Weight was a HUGE factor in our renovation. We are just under our weight limit post moving in and post renovation. Towing this rig is EASY, we have to remind ourselves that we are towing. But that may be because we have towed fifth wheels for a long time. No issue with the slide. :)
@thepolishmom5 жыл бұрын
fantastic project ! but only thing I dont get is why would u buy a new RV and completely change it...I thought big projects like that are for used RVs if you are smart about it. Is that because u couldn't find a used model like this? ehhhhhhh I dont get it. It seems like $$$$wise wasn't the smartest decision ever, however I love the way it turned out, after putting good chunk of $$ into it
@MandyFierensphoto5 жыл бұрын
Totally get what you are thinking! A couple things, this layout wasn't available used. We also really wanted a SOLID rig so we could add things like tile and be a little less about the frame. Our first reno was a super old rig and we had issues with that, so we saved up and bought a more sturdy rig to make into our dream home. :)

We just painted our kitchen including cabinets and walls plus the adjacent living area in our 2015 Solaire. My husband is in construction, and we've lived in a vintage home since 1989, so we're skilled at renovating. It's hard to find reliable 'how to' information on replacing floors, especially with slides. I completely agree that new trailers are dark and generic, but I'm concerned that the changes you've made may invalidate warranties. Since you're full-timers, the potential adverse affect on resale probably isn't an issue. I suspect there's a market for new rigs that are 'shell and utilities only.'
@victorialawrence47825 жыл бұрын
oh my gosh!! Yes!! This is it!! The interiors of american RVs are just so bad. I can't take the bulky, unintuitive waste of space and all around unattractiveness. Who likes three mile long dark brown vinyl couches? I can not, however, bring myself to gut a new one. We are looking for a mint, covered rig around 10 years old. Back when they were even uglier. :-) Thank you so much for sharing your story and renovation. It's stunning!

I haven't watched it yet but just from the few seconds I saw, I would have loved to had it the way it was. It was really nice. So I am going to watch it and expect to be wowed I would absolutely love to have that new camper and can't believe you are going to tear it apart. Why didn't you just get a city bus and build it out. And you could have towed a vehicle. Or something like that. I guess I will have to wait and see. But I'm one of these who can't stand for things to be torn up. And I just can't understand why you would want to get rid of that fridge 😲 I know you needed counter space. So why didn't you just add an island?? Okay....first you didn't do a good job showing it when you were finished. I kept having to go back and trying to stop it right on the room I wanted to see, you went way too fast. And you didn't span it around so we could get a good look. You mentioned the fireplace before you renovated it but you never showed it again. Matter a fact you never even showed that area at all. We got a glimpse of the steps if you stop it in the right spot. You never explained anything about the renovation. It was more of a video of your old camper and some driving and really fast renoing, so you really could tell anything about what you did. And then flashes of it remodeled. We saw more of the other camper, which I love. You said you were taking the other fridge out so you could get some more counter space but you don't have any more than you had. (Also in the other camper you could have added a pop up counter) I love the decor but couldn't you have done that to your other camper??? And I didn't see the little succulent wall hanging. Did you carry it over?? I guess this video would have made more sense if you had gone through and talked about what you did and why you did it. I really loved the other camper. I assume you sold it?? How much did you get out of it if you don't mind me asking??. If so, I understand. And did you sell the thing's you took out of the new camper?? I am hoping you did. I don't know if you have a channel but if you do, I hope you make a video just about the camper and show it better. Love your fur baby 🐕🐾🖤

Some part of me gets very excited at the thought of buying an RV to renovate and live in, but I also know it's irrational since I wouldn't be using it to travel, it kind of defeats the benefits, on paper a tiny home or real house makes sense because they actually go up in value whereas an RV drops rapidly. Oh well.
