Super job finding the error! I would have had no clue what was wrong. I like watching your videos because I have a motorhome with a W22 Workhorse chassis with an 8.1 V8 like you. I also have a couple of rental condos, too. So I get something of value from every one of your videos. Your ability to fix things is enviable.

Way to go like a bull dog with a bone you was not giving up and dropping the RV off at a shop. LOL. I installed a Brazels Ultra Power ECM on my 8.1 and love it. The 8.1 is stronger running and gets a little better gas mileage because the transmission downshifts shifts at the optimum time. I only have 40 K on the RV now but I am considering changing the spark plugs and wires to better match the quality of the ECM. Another good video.

Great Video. I think if you opened up ECM you might find a bad solder connention. I've seen thermo problem(s) when cold and a little heat expand bad solder joints. Reflowing solder in the suspected area of the circuit board could fix this issue. I suspect the problem may have showed up in cooler weather. I have an 03 w22 same everything. I've been studying all your videos. You're a great teacher. Great job. Best regards, David

Thank you for the kind words David in fact I took it apart later and found moisture inside PCM and a lot of corrosion on the injector driver for that cylinder. If I can be of any help to you call or text my cell 606-875-0125 Kevin

Hey Kevin, "if you own an RV there's always a new problem to fix." With the short time we've owned our Dolphn, and the issues popping up for us, I can certainly relate to that. Fortunately for us the previous own was a bus mechanic, and he performed most of the maintenance and repairs himself... at least the ones he could handle. > We had a similar problem with a 30y in a Chevy Biscayne station wagon, and thought it was a busted piston. Thank you for your input: At the time of the Video my COLD was past and I felt fine it took a few months to get my voice back it was crazy I was beginning to think I would never get it back. I started sleeping with a mist humidifier and I think that helped.

Kevin, do you think Scan Gauge 3 will identify which cylinder is misfiring? I too see a misfire on cold start. About to change plugs first. Wires are good (Brazel's install a couple of years ago). My SG3 does not seem to identify anything more than a misfire count....no code yet so it might just be a carbon deposit on a plug.

Yes the scangauge 3 will show you misfires on all cylinders after you update to version 1.20 then rescan for x Gauges

@@ktoutdoor Kevin, Jon is sending me a replacement ECM. He is not sure why I am going thru so many O2 sensors. Are there any procedures to follow when swapping the ECU's? I am wondering if there is a learning process the ECM or TCM needs to have before test driving (from your experience).

@@larryv4249 I never noticed a difference a learning process with he ECM I did notice the TCM had a couple of hard down shifts the first time I drove it but then all was good.

RV products and ever since I had issues with cylinder #5, and unfortunately I could not see any codes so I lost two motors in less the 2000 miles and I’m about to get the third one running again, but now I purchased a Tech 2 so that I can monitor the computer to see what the injectors, and coils are doing, I did remove all injectors and had them check and it turns out the #5 which is the one in question is good, so the guys who rebuild my engine recommended that I check the injectors hardness as well as the coil and plug wires, so I check everything and all seems to be okay, so I’m thinking is going to be the ECM because I had basically the same issues as what you had, except I think you catch it before it cause you any bigger issues, that’s why I ask if you had your ECM upgraded by the same guys that they may have programming issues anyways thank you and let me know.
