Two times I have had to call roadside assistance . In 1 case ( progressive ins ) I locked myself out , the service never showed up and I had to break the side door window frame to get in ( at 10:30 at night . The second time I had a flat and couldnt get the lug nuts loose . State farm sends out a guy in a pick up with no jack to raise my class c . And shame on me I didnt have a jack either. But he did have a cordless impact gun ( Everyone should have one on board ) and loosened the lug nuts . The guy leaves to go get a jack , after an hour I walk to an auto parts store and buy a 20 ton bottle jack and change my tire myself . The guy shows back up when I m done .

Not all roadside assistance plans are the same when it comes to service. And I'm sorry to hear about the experiences you have had with your current company. The companies on this list are known for overall good results though.

Check your insurance policy before purchasing a separate plan. My progressive plan has great roadside assistance and towing included .

It's not very common to find auto insurance policies that provide the same level of coverage that a dedicated RV roadside assistance plan does. But if your does, that's great for you.

AAA RV Premier left me stranded on the side of the road for over 48hrs. Customer service tried to send out 5 tow trucks, in a row, that could not tow an RV. They also do not honor the 200mile tow. It is 200 miles, up to $500. I only need 75mile tow. I ended up having to pay an intial $1500 to the tow company. I then received a $500 reimbursement a month later. Also I had to find my own tow company because they couldn't "find" an RV capable tow truck. Even though it only took me 5 minutes of calling around local tow companies. The only thing AAA did was make the situation worse and prolong the amount of time I was stranded on the side of the road. -10/10 would not recommend AAA

@@RVInspectionAndCareyou need to update this video, they only pay $500 in Towing RVs, cars are a total different game if you have a car AAA is fine if you have an RV 500 bucks how far does that take it not too far I'm pretty sure

@@RVInspectionAndCare I also had to find out the hard way about AAA's change in their RV towing policy when I got stranded about 80 miles from home back in July of 2020. I thought 80 mile's I'd be towed home no problem, nope they told me that now they only pay $500 towards the tow ( which might get you 20 mile or so depending on the cost where you are ). Luckily I had a friend that lived in a city about 10 miles from there so I had them tow my RV there and I had to get a ride home from a fellow RV'er that I was camping with that weekend. AAA shouldn't be included in the to 20 in my opinion. I found your video to find a better option then them, I've been a member of theirs for almost 30 years but I refuse to go through another bad experience with them. Thanks for your sharing this video but please revise the AAA portion or you may have some upset followers if they decide to choose them as their roadside assistance provider.

I have not yet searched RV-RA-Plan yet, it's the next hing on my list. I assumed Good Sam would be higher on the list. Thanks for the info.
@RVInspectionAndCare Жыл бұрын
Actually I still recommended Good Sam as their roadside assistance itself appears to be fine for many people. My main objection is the over-the-top marketing that they did on a constant basis once I was a member. If that doesn't bother you, GS may be a good choice. BTW, I have Coach-Net now and they rarely send email correspondence at all. Only when it is necessary. I love that!

I'm pretty darn sure that all these roadside assistance plans require you to go to the nearest so-called repair shop Triple-A only pays up to $500 in Towing RVs, I used AAA to tow my car 100 miles with no problem, but RVs 500 bucks might get you 20 30 miles if you have a small RV

As far as I am concerned, I'm glad that the my roadside assistance plan will tow me to the nearest qualified repair facility. That's about all I can ask of them. And if you don't like the AAA limit on towing, just use a different RA plan.
@webbofcpt Жыл бұрын
@@RVInspectionAndCare AAA sucks if the nearest repair facility is more than twenty mile away or if you need to get your rig back home to unpack after a long camping trip and you or a loved one has to go to work the next day, I agree and I am currently searching for a better option. Thanks for you help!
@tonyturner7655 Жыл бұрын
@@webbofcpt not to mention if the nearest place can't get to your vehicle for several days or weeks, that can be pretty devastating, the fact is AAA used to take your RVs up to 100 miles they don't do that anymore, that's a big hit, I used to feel invincible traveling, not so much now, let me know if you find anything that is better than AAA I think we're all screwed because of what's happened the world.

I am currently researching these myself to make an informative choice for our needs and have compiled a lot of data. My studies are coming up with coach net as number 1 and fmca as number 2 , good Sam would be my last pick and aaa not at all as it is auto only. Please correct me if I am wrong but none cover travel trip interruption unless you are in an actual accident with another vehicle . And I have not been able to find if there is windshield coverage for your towing vehicle or vehicle being towed.
@RVInspectionAndCare Жыл бұрын
Hi Dawn. AAA does provide RV roadside assistance. We know because we have their coverage until August of this year. And trip interruption not only provides for accidents but also includes having a disabled RV needing repairs with some of the plans I mentioned in this video. I don't believe any of them provide coverage for windshield repair though. That is usually covered by your RV insurance. Thanks for watching!

Finally a stranger stopped and helped us, my husband paid him cash the man had no credit card machine!!! This man made sure we got to a shop. Is a 32' considered large?
@RVInspectionAndCare11 ай бұрын
Hi Michael. It's large size Class C. But a smaller RV compared to most diesel pushers.

FMCA is now $159/yr. for motorhomes. I used to have them when they were only $89/yr, but dropped them and went with Escapees as I'm a member of both clubs. Both have excellent benefits besides roadside assistance. BTW both FMCA and Escapees plans are administered by Saferide Motor Club, though they have slightly different benefits.

Actually I can say that I will probably choose Coach Net for my particular needs. I choose them because they have the best overall reviews from satisfied users online and because they seem to handle larger rigs like mine well. I wish they were a little less expensive but their cost isn't outrageous. I hope that helps.

Thank u so much Dwayne!!! I love ur videos & have learned a ton from u! I appreciate that u have worked in the industry & u really know RVs! I’m a wanna-be fulltimer nomad stuck in the planning phase-I can’t decide between a class a or c!!! And then I can’t decide if I want a diesel or gasser😆! Anyway, time will tell. I’d like to be on the road right after New Year’s 2023.
@RVInspectionAndCare2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tammy. You're doing the right thing by taking the time now to learn as much as you can before you go out and spend money on an RV. A lot of people don't do that and they wind up with an RV that doesn't fit their needs. Sometimes they go through 3-4 RVs until they find what works for them. But doing your homework now can save all of that hassle. Let me know if you have any questions that I can help with as you go. And thanks for watching!

Other than being marketed to death, was Good Sam a good plan, and would you recommend them otherwise? Our travel trailer is 27 ft, so not huge. Thanks!
@RVInspectionAndCare Жыл бұрын
It wasn't bad. It could be a great choice for smaller RVs like a travel trailer. I have heard of some complaints of their not working well for larger Class A diesel pusher motorhomes like ours. So we decided to go with a different provider. But in addition, as I said in the video, in my opinion GS's marketing was just simply way overdone.

Good Sams roadside assistance was a joke! Needed them on 2 different occasions. Couldn't find a tire to fit my motorhome and wanted to tow me to the nearest tire dealer, and maybe they could fix it in the morning. And I was 35 miles away from home. #2 they couldn't find a roadside assistance service in my area. And I was about 30 minutes away from Greensboro NC. We dropped them! They wanted to make it up by giving us another year free. No thanks!

Hi, I see that some roadside plans have mobile mechanic . What is the difference between me calling one and roadside assistance locating one, i.e. cost and or doing a search?
@RVInspectionAndCare2 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael. It appears that these plans pay for the mobile mechanic to come to your disabled rig so there are no trip charges. But of course, if there are parts or labor charges associated with a repair, you would pay those costs. Of course, each of these plans can have different definitions of what a mobile mechanic does, so be sure to check the fine print before signing.
