Excellent work documenting the repair. I have some truss repair work to do and this is invaluable.

I appreciate you documenting this series. My 2007 30' TT isn't that bad but I've been debating doing the work myself on the roof and sidewall de-lamination. I've been watching the RVROOFINSTALL youtube channel getting idea of materials he uses. Great videos as well.

Hi Ricky. Thanks for checking in. I'm way behind on videos and have started to crank them out again. I hope they provide some benefit...even if it's what not to do. Good luck and keep me updated on your progress.

Me and my husband have a 90s model jayco anniversary edition and the whole roof is rotten. Anywhere you step it’s suuuuper soft. Inside and out, how would we go about replacing it? Someone told us inside to outside on the demo… thought, ideas, tips.. thank you for the videos!
@remodelyourrv2 жыл бұрын
Thats a tough one. Your best bet may be to lay some thicker plywood across the existing roof and use it to support you while you demo all the rotten stuff.

I sure appreciate you taking us through your thinking/decision process as you discovered more issues. You answered a LOT of questions for me, thanks! I am curious how the "patched" trusses have held up after 2 yrs? Do you feel that is as strong of a method as a full truss replacement? Thanks from a newbie to RV renovation of my future tiny home on wheels! Learning as I go!
@remodelyourrv2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I appreciate the kind words. These trusses have held up fine and I have no concerns. However, if you were doing an entire roof like this it would be better to do replace the full trusses. But, for a repair like mine I wouldn’t have any worries.

I'm about to do the same thing. My 5th wheel 30' is a 2001. I am wondering what you do to replace the wall and ceiling panels. Mine are 1/8 thickness can find it anywhere. So frustrating. Good job by the way, very informative. Thanks

Thank You Very much for your videos! they were very useful for me to be able to make decissions. Right now im in a pickle and i am looking to sell my 2007 Fleetwood 33ft . 2 years ago when i bought it, i remodeled it for full time living. then had it stored for over a year while away and there were some more leaks which created more work. Now i have a similar job on the roof as this video, and another portion on another corner. not to mentione a probably substancial damage on the walls and floors. My question is do i try to sell it as is or put some money down and try to fix it before i sell it, so byers dont try to use the leverage to negotiate down too much? Im also tryin to sell it within a month so i can use the money to move from northeast to florida. what would you guys recomend i do?

That's a tough one. Based on your tight timeline you probably won't have time to make all the repairs. It may be best to cut your losses on this one. Repairs are not that expensive, but they can be labor intensive. Good Luck!

Would you recommend OSB or pressure treated/ground contact/severweather type plywood?
@remodelyourrv Жыл бұрын
OSB should do the trick, but I have "heard" some folks use more weather-forgiving materials. That being said, moisture shouldn't be an issue if the exterior roof material maintains integrity.

Can you buy pre made trusses? Even metal ones? Thanks.
@remodelyourrv Жыл бұрын
That's a great question and I'm afraid I don't know the answer to it. I'll do some digging around, but maybe someone on here can chime in.

What size wood did you use to toenail the truss and what tool did you use to get that slant?
@remodelyourrv2 жыл бұрын
I used a 2x4 and then a jigsaw to cut the curved portion of the board.

wondering to replace a part or the whole roof is it real expensive? we got a 2002 starcraft hybrid and just took the guys word that it didnt leak and he lied ... now the skylight and vent in bathroon leaks and so afraid that we will find more damage ...so upset since we are on fixed income
@remodelyourrv Жыл бұрын
With the wood you can just replace rotten sections, but for the membrane you should replace all of it.
