RV slide out adjustment for most slides. Should be the same concept as in this video. Loosen jam nut, adjust main nut until the slide is at the correct position and tighten the jam nut again.

Absolutely! Congrats on the purchase. Ive heard way to many people complain about the service they get at dealerships. I'll probably never take our unit to get repairs done. Alliance is real good at sending me what we need or sending out a tech to fix a problem. Plus i love a good challenge. I'll DIY this thing till its time for a new one. hahah...

Love these videos. Gives us the ability to make similar repairs to our RV. Had the follower side of a slide not closing fully. For my unit there was a bracket on the follower side that adjusted in/out. I marked position before I loosed the nut and used the slide power to move it. Fixed the issue.

Glad it helped! Good idea to mark the location prior to moving. I only thought about that after the job was complete. I was fortunate to have a chat with some Lippert experts during the Alliance RV Rally. They showed me all the adjustment points and how they keep the slide adjusted correctly. Thanks, giving it a shot on my 2018 Cyclone. The bottom of the kitchen slide towards the rear has about a 1 inch gap before the slide contacts the bulb seal. This then precludes the living room slide from engaging. We will see. 👍🏻

I spoke to a Lippert Tech last week during the Alliance Rally. He said the gap between to bolts on the hydraulic piston is standard and should not be tight up agents the plate. Don’t sandwich the bolts up agents the plate, do make sure you have the outside bolt adjusted properly. The nylon nut should be past the end like in the video. Lippert is very responsive and there tech’s are amazing. Give them a call if you have specific questions. Thanks for watching!

@@robertnewman1593 Mine has an adjustment for the height out were the arms attach to the outer wall. I think on my second adjustment video I pointed it out. Should be adjustable. May need to contact the factory to get a manual or explanation on how to adjust if its different than mine.

Nice video but correct me if I am wrong, the nuts should be touching the plate and adjust either the outside locking nut and move the two nuts on the inside in or out. Once the adjustments has been made the locking nut and the two inside nuts should be jammed tight to the plate for instant movement in or out, the way I see it is that you have a short delay until one of the bolts come in contact with the plate to move the slide in or out.

YES.. thank you.. lol. I was thinking the same thing. Should be tight and torqued down to prevent them from coming off or moving. Not sure why the manufacture decided to leave some slack. Is this true? The clearance between your slide T edge/fascia and the cut-out sidewall has grown to a point where making adjustments cannot overcome the excessive clearance. That is why we add an additional seal on the inside, in order to make up for the excessive gap. This happens sometimes after slides get old and maybe have had a lot of use, the structure of the slide frame work can get to a point that it is not plumb, or square, anymore. Consequently the geometry of the slide is no longer the way it was when it was first built.

Hi Paul. I have a 2007 forest river cedar creek and I have a huge gas at the top of my living room slide out. It let's bugs in, rain down the right side wall, and I've has to put pipe insulation in the gap and plastic shopping bags down the wall gaps as well. I live by myself and can't afford to pay someone to adjust it. I'm a first time 5er and I was ripped off to the max on this fifth wheel and have had so many problems with this unit I've had to fix on my own including installing a new majic chef all electric fridge after a ammonia leak developed in the dometic gas/electric fridge quit working. I almost died & have a terrible cough now from being exposed. Please tell me how to adjust this. I live in Florida, its in the high 80's today and the heat is coming in while my a/c air is escaping out. HELP PLEASE

Good morning! Sorry to hear about your slide, I’ve never worked on a forest river, I’m not sure if the mechanics are the same. I would reach out to the dealership you purchased the camper from or contact Forest River directly. Also, you could look up a local mobile RV tech. They can come out and fix the slide for you. yes, i replaced the floor on a bedroom slide.. super fun! lol.. Its an area prone to water damage for sure. I replaced it with a pressure treated wood and coated it with a marine deck paint... that should keep it from rotting for the next 30 years!

All both my slides have that space left between the adjustment nuts. Left there i'm sure by the manufacturer. I wonder what the purpose of the spacing if for. about an inch and half.

@@FocusedontheRoad the nuts on my slide are tight to both sides of the bracket. I was surprised to see the space on yours and in the manual. Mine doesn't extend far enough on the following side but is good on the active side, opposite to the condition in your video. Is the fix the same? I'm concerned extending it further will make it too tight on the seals on the active side.

The problem is once you got the adjustment out you didn't show to tighten the plastic lock but to lick the in distance to the right distance. Now it will eat itself up or the in but will come off going down the road and worse case cenerio kill some one.

Thank you for watching the video and for your comment. It’s a little difficult to understand what you are saying, there are a lot of what I see to be auto corrects on your comment. If you are saying that someone will forget to put the nylon nut back on.. I have full confidence if anyone is attempting to do this by themselves, they are capable of taking responsibility for their mistakes and would not forget the nylon lock nut on the rod. I’m assuming you are talking about the “nylon nut falling off during travel and worse case scenario killing someone” I’m no traffic safety expert, but a quick google search for automobile accidents from a flying nylon nut comes back with zero results in a death... ever.... So i think we are all safe. I’m positive there are much more dangerous things out there that we could concern ourselves with than a nylon nut flying off the back of an RV and killing someone. Thanks for watching the video, good luck to you or anyone that is going to attempt to adjust their slide and don’t forget to install the nylon nut, put all your tools away, clean the grease off your hands, pull the slide in and hook up the safety cable before hitting the highway and potentially murdering someone.

So why can't you just leave the push/ pull rod all the way out, release the jamb nut and rotoate the inside nut out until the slide is where you want it? Then run the jamb nut up against it to save that position. And, wouldn't that require 2 -12 inch cressent wrenches. Or at least buy a 1" open end wrench for the tool box, in addition to the handy adjustable cresent wrench.

Yes! Checked it. Found a locknut that was finger tight... 😮. Glad I checked. Didn’t need to adjust it at all.

I seem to have a similar gap on the bottom on the same side as you. My question pertains to closing of the slide. When it closes, the floor raises up about an inch or two. Is this normal or is there another adjustment needed?

Ken C yes, totally normal for the slide to raise up an inch or two.

Ken when the slide goes with in or out from the main floor there should be a Teflon ramp for the roller to traverse from float floor to raise when it comes up the ramp when the slide comes in.

@@markwebb3877 could it be a cable style slide? I’m not sure why it would effect the top if it’s the same type of slide mechanism. This type of slide doesn’t pull or push out the top. It just pushes from the bottom. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

No, there is an adjustment for both closed position and open position. There is enough travel to keep it from interfering in the closed position.

I know their FB page has a bunch of helpful info on it. there are some very smart people on there helping out with all kinds of questions about the Alliance rigs. There is no extra threaded rod with them for adjusting anything that I can see. Theresa H.. Sounds like the bracket underneath needs to be adjusted. On mine, there are two brackets with 2 or 3 bolts that you can loosen and adjust the height. It may be something a mobile tech can do fairly cheep or maybe contact the manufacturer and see if they can give you some solid advice. May be a fairly easy fix. Depending on what “Brand” of RV, there should be a good facebook group or forums you can join and post pictures, get some advice from people that own similar models and have had the same experience. As far as I understand, there are only 3 types of slides. 1 has rollers under it to assist it in traveling over the floor, 2nd has a few plastic sliders under the slide that help it slide over the floor (those are the worst because if the floor is not clean, it can scratch the floor) and the 3rd is the Lippert style (mehanizm on the side of the slide). there is a way to adjust it up and down but that only keeps it level once its all the way out. Not sure if there is a way to keep it from scratching the floor.
