Hey Buddy. You just saved my trip. Fortunately my pump was still functional, but based on your diagnostic hints, I was able to figure out that the solenoid was not functioning properly. I was able to temporarily jump the solenoid, and everything started working. Oddly, when I removed the jump, it continued to work. Will keep an eye on it and likely replace the solenoid. But for now, I am on the road. Thanks so much for your time and effort.

Thx for posting! I just purchased a 2004 Newmar Kountry Star that has the same hydraulic leveling system from HWH (although not for slideout). My motor looks original, so this video was great so I know how to change it when it inevitably fails when I am in the middle of nowhere! My research indicates mine is near the end of its service life too. Thanks again, I also like your easy, clear electrical testing instructions...

First of all, the thanks for the video on replacing the awning motor. Followed all the instructions, including the rush to do wiring and didn’t notice the coupler still sitting on the table. LOL. Replaced that and all.good. very easy to do. HWH has all.the parts. Also lost the hydraluic hose to the back slide. Easy fix. 32 foot line. Go to Napa auto parts.have it built Cut the old line and just overlay the new one and tie it to the existing ones. Hope this helps.

Shortly after watching your video from Mexico on hitting something resulting in the jack foot slipping up and burying the jack post in the dirt, I had a similar issue. @Chris.Y.054

I was going to ask if you will be carrying a spare. If you were at a campsite, how would you have retracted your jacks and slides? Is there a manual process?
@RVwithTito
@RVwithTito Жыл бұрын
@@Chris.Y.054 Yes. There is a manual process that involves releasing the valve pressure then pushing/pulling the slide(s) in. The bedroom slide requires some serious pushing, but there's a manual winch for pulling the main living room slide back in. I haven't tried to do it yet. At some point I definitely should.
@markheene8852

@@RVwithTito I would think the old motor lasted this long (20 yrs-ish), hopefully the new one will last a while. Of course if you have a spare you will never need it. Brian, if you ever think it’d make good content, could you show how you did your probe extensions with those WAGO connectors? I think I got the basics, but I’m wondering if you sacrificed a pair by cutting the probe off to reveal the wire to insert into the WAGO? Could have used something like that on an under cabinet lighting project I just completed. I wanted to ID the romex pair but my meter wires were too short to reach. Great idea regardless and I’ll gin something up like that! Cheers!

Great vid. I have separate HWH hydraulics now: Pax side rooms and newly installed HWH jacks (installed at the HWH plant in Iowa last week). Got back to Albuquerque and lo and behold my bedroom slide quit functioning (fails to extend) but does retract. Don’t think its the motor since the kitchen extends/retracts and the bedroom retracts. Any ideas??
@RVwithTito
@RVwithTito Жыл бұрын
Might be one of a few things. Start by checking for power when you press the switch. Make sure the e-brake is applied first of all. Then work your way back from the relay to the controller (somewhere under your dash), then to the switch itself. It might be one of the solenoid valves that controls the "extend". I believe there's one for extending and one for retracting. Hope that helps. The HWH doc I linked to in the description has a good step-by-step troubleshooting guide.

The motor mfg probably figures that since the motor is wore out, it is probably time to replace the solenoid also. A little preventative maintenance as long as you're operating. If you look inside a solenoid, it has a copper disk that gets slammed against the two posts that the cables connect to and these deteriorate over time.

I thought I'd share my own recent fix. My hood hinges were bent, so even when the hinge was fully adjusted, the top of the hood hung out about an inch. After hearing from Winnebago that the hinges were no longer available, I had an epiphany. I removed the hinges and used the upper bump stops on the hood to mount a couple of hood pins. I still use the original latch to hold the bottom, but now the top is pulled in tight with that $13 hood pin kit from any random auto parts store. It also means that when I need to work in there, I remove a couple of pins and set the hood off to the side. That gets me about 8 inches closer to what I'm working on as I'm not hanging over the hood. Now I need to figure out how I'm going to get one of my inner tires off to take it in and have the valve stem replaced. It came loose of the rubber holder and got trapped behind the wheel simulator, and the end got ground down at an angle, so a tire chuck or tpms leaks air now.
@RVwithTito
@RVwithTito Жыл бұрын
Yeah. That hood does get in the way. Mine hangs out about 1/2" on the too and the whole design seems pretty flimsy. Thanks for the idea. Good luck with your inner dually.

@@RVwithTito Yeah, the hood SHOULD come out and up. With it coming out and down you can't help by lay across it when you're working in there, resulting in bent hinges. The hinge pin kit was so easy. I spent two days trying to adjust the hinges. It took an hour to switch over to the hinge pins.
