A video on batteries would be great. Mine are coming up on 4 yrs old, been thinking of replacing, surly at some point they’ll stop taking a charge. I alway use FHU, wonder if it’s better to level and pull slides out or in (hydraulic) before or after plugged in. Thanks for all the info you continue to provide.

Thank you for the info. Our 2020 rv slide-out would blow fuse at the end fully extended or fully retracted. The service department put a self reset fuse in and that worked but must be something going on there. Auburn, WA.

Recently found you, great content! We bought a 2012 Forest Fiver Sabre 34RLQS with a few problems, first the Lippert slide controller (13398-C2) error code on motor 1 - 8 flashes - Hall SG not present. Video i watched indicated a wiring issue, i'd like to know your take on this problem. The slide seems out of time, one has to press in or out button (same problem both ways), motors move out of sync about 2" to 3" before shutting off. I can hear motor 1 start, stop out of sync with Motor 2. seems to work best starting the opposite direction (out) then activate (in) and the unit moves 3", repeat. I'm working to look at wiring harness, top of the motor, swap the motor input to see if the problem moves with the harness. thanks

Curious as to how it's transmitted wirelessly. Where do you plug Into the unit in order to get the info/graphing sent to your laptop??? Thanks!

Thanks for the video Darren. I have a 2018 Jayco Redhawk with a Power Gear/Lippert slide-out. The problem I am having is when I extend the slide to the full out position the 25A fuse blows, but when i retract the slide the fuse dose not blow and I can hear the motor disengage from driving the slide. I do not hear the motor disengage when reaching the stop when extending. In this video the graph shows the motor drawing 22A going out and 18.5A retracting. Question: Does the motor have a built in circuit breaker that opens at the 20Aish point? If so that might be mt problem and the motor is not opening the CB when it reaches the full open position and causing the fuse to blow. Any ideas will be appreciated. PS This is a above floor slide-out

I have a rack and pinion type of slide on a fifth wheel trailer. The front smaller slide will often not activate when pushing the rocker switch but sometimes it will, so it is an intermittent problem. When it does activate it will continue on and complete its travel without resistance. So far I have been able to overcome a stalled slide by either, 1)rocking the wall switch back and forth several times rapidly, 2) hooking up to shore power, 3) using my portable generator to the shore power outlet. Again once the slide starts in any one of these power modes it continues on normally. It feels like it just doesn't have enough power to get started but only sometime. I am sure to get stuck sometime soon when nothing will work. What should be my diagnostic routine and fix? Many thanks for any help.

The lights flickered the last time I tried and now all 3 won’t move . After watching ur video . I don’t have a battery . If I fried the converter will putting a battery in still pull the slides in ? Or is there a way I can crank them in Thank you . For any info . It’s not mine , I sold it for my aunt that moved and I’m trying my best to fix it

Hey Neighbor!! I'm over in Post Falls (Coeur d'Alene) area! My mom is out camping in Kingston in a Sunset Trails camper and she can't get her slide to work at all. I've been doing some research to try to help her with it, can you possibly show where the fuses are located and are they just your average fuse like I would have in my vehicle or bigger ones? The weird part is, she tested it before she went to Kingston, and it worked, but the back roads to her camping spot are pretty bumpy so I am thinking it's something to do with a loose wire somewhere maybe? Do you have any ideas, comments, thoughts on what we should do to check that out and get her all fixed up? This video was VERY informational but I think my mom has a different issue than what this lady did. (and it's hard to help her when I'm at home trying to relay everything I've read/watched over the phone haha) Thanks in advance!

I'm having problems getting the slides in-and-out with the generator. Right when I go to hit the button it goes mirror and then shuts the generator off and kicks the 30th breaker on the generator off but. When I plug it into power like to the house? I have no problems with the slide going in and out

If it would be possible for you to get a DC clamp on meter and evaluate the amperage going to the motor - in both directions - that might give you a clue on if the problem is with the motor or something mechanical is binding it up.

One of my slides is not working. I pulled the switch, plus a switch for a slide that does work. Testing the wires for each switch I found that on the slide that works I get 13.7 volts but only 12.3 on the switch for the slide that is not working. Why would there be a lower voltage? I checked the batteries directly plus a light switch and the all show 13.7 volts. Confused why the switch for the slide that is not working shows a lower voltage on the positive wire?

We have new property and no shore power yet. Our fridge is a household model so it’s only electric which pretty much requires running a generator all the time. I’m thinking of going with lithium batteries in hopes of only needing the generator a couple hours a day. Do you have any thoughts on this idea? Mike from Olympia.

We have folks that do the calculations for solar and an inverter just for the residential refrigerators. So that has worked out well for them. While the lithium batteries will allow for a larger storage bank, depending on how large of a solar array you have it may not be necessary for that lithium battery expense. For example we have one customer with a good size solar array charging a single battery. And because the solar is more than enough to charge the One battery (even in low light conditions) and the battery is sized adequately to run the refrigerator all night, they have been doing this for years and no problems.

I’m a new Rv tech and been buying, fixing and selling some campers in Kentucky. I just bought one that was vandalized and some wiring stripped out. I have reworded everything and it’s doing good except for the slide. It does great until it reaches the end of the movement and the motor bogs down and it’ll pop the 15amp fuse every time. Do I need to add a resettable circuit breaker on that to keep it from happening? If so what size.

Darren, my large drop down slide doesn’t have enough power to get it over the initial hump coming on. If I’m outside pushing on it to get it past that hump it’s fine. Seems to work better if I run the gen a few mins before trying to bring it in. Is this an issue with shore power not keeping my batteries charged, or a friction issue?

I thought that when you're plugged into shore power the battery is not used at all but it sounds like you are saying that when you're plugged into shore power the battery is still powering everything but is now being charged by shore power. Am I correct in understanding that everything is powered by the battery all the time regardless of whether you're plugged into shore power or not?
@MyRVWorks
@MyRVWorks Жыл бұрын
You will find that your RV actually has three separate electrical systems within it. One of those systems is what we would call the chassis circuit. The 'chassis circuit' would be things like blinkers, brake lights, marker lights things like that. That would be a DC circuit directly from a 'chassis' starting battery or alternator. Another electrical circuit in your RV is what we would call the 'house circuit'. This is also a DC circuit that is powered from your deep cycle 'house battery' or your converter charger. This circuit would run things like your interior lights, furnace, LP detector, basically electrical things in your RV that would work when you're not connected to shore power. The third electrical circuit in your RV would be what we might call the 'shoe circuit'. This is what would run if you connected to shore power or when your generator is running (also, to a lesser degree if you were to run this through an inverter). This is a 120 Volt AC circuit. This circuit would control things like microwave, coffee pot, hair dryer, but also your battery charger converter. So when you're connected to shore power or your generator is running then all of your AC circuits would work, and one of those things attached to the AC circuit is your battery charger/converter. When you're not connected to shore power then all the electricity is coming from the battery. So overwhelmingly most of the electrical circuits in your RV that you use on a day-to-day basis or 12 volt DC house circuits. If you're not connected to shore power then the battery is delivering power for that. If you are connected to your power then the converter is converting that Shore power down to 12 volts DC and charging your battery and running your circuits that way. I hope this helps. Perhaps we can put a video out to help explain this more clearly.

If my slide out switch IS sending 12 volts to the slideout controller (confirmed at input) and the controller has no lights and doesn't operate, does that mean it's bad? I opened it and see no burn marks on the front or back and it doesn't smell burnt. Located in Great Falls, MT.

You don't let us know what kind of slide room you have. In this video we're working with a Happy Jack, that was eventually bought by LCI. So I'm not sure if you have that system or if you're dealing with a Schwintek or Power Gear. They are all a bit different. Having said that, you can send 12 volts directly to the motor and see if the motor works. So, you - human - become the control board. But if you're getting 12 volts to that board and it's getting a signal to operate, and it's still not moving, then it's likely that you might have an issue with that board. Good luck.

@MyRVWorks It's a schwintek slideout with a 13398-D0 Lippert controller. I tested the motors, and they both operate. I have 12 volts on J7 and J8 on the board when I have someone close the slide control switch. Should 12 volts DC always be present at the controller board or only when the switch is present? If nothing lights up on the PCB, should I buy a new controller?

My fuse which says slide, takes a 15 amp fuse, bones blew somehow and the red indicator light came on.
