RV surge protector: The one accessory you can't afford to skip

Great video. Thanks for the info. I was hoping to learn why this particular brand when there are others, like those from Progressive Industries. What makes you choose the Watchdog over others? Thanks.

Chomp, I chose the Watchdog brand over the others for 2 reasons: 1- I can change the surge module if I encounter a surge. I bought a spare to carry with us so I can be operational again without having to change the entire surge protector. 2- I can monitor the power with the Watchdog app to see my KWh usage and the surge protector links to the RV Whisper system so I can get alerts over the internet if I have a power issue when I’m not at the RV. @@MobileRVTechServices Regarding the ability to change a module in the device, I have looked at their online instruction manual for the EMS-HW50C protector. Error code E 10 says "Replace Surge Protector Module (call Progressive Industries Tech Support)". Does that mean that the unit is out of commission until tech support can ship something to you, including a replacement unit? In other words, is that why you chose the Watchdog over the Progressive Industry's protector? Thanks.

Chomp, That is correct. The Progressive unit needs to be replaced while with the Watchdog unit, you can change the surge board. I bought the replacement surge board for around $30 to carry with me so I won’t have downtime. The ability to replace the surge board myself without having to send the unit in was a deciding factor in buying the Watchdog. -Steve
