I remember my first year RVing - I winterized too soon, and missed some prime camping time. Rookie mistake. Weekend Warrior camping dies down a lot after labor day. Now, we moved to Florida, so no need to winterize at all unless I go North.

Everything turned out awesome and we got just the right amount of leftovers😋 the pie turned out especially good! I'm actually glad I forgot my rolling pin because it worked out so well just pressing it by hand on the plastic wrap then I was able to cleanly pick it up and fold over my hand and into the pie plate! I wish we got that part on video😂

Lynn...no "Stove Top"? Just kidding. My wife Paula makes an awesome pumpkin pie from scratch. We grow the pumpkins in our garden, harvest, bake and then freeze in baggies for later. This year we had venison, fried potatoes and corn. All food came from our garden. Along with the pumpkin pie, Paula made an awesome apple crisp! Instead of one pound of apples, she used eight pounds. She says you can't have too many apples! It was amazing (just like her)!
@WanderingWagners
@WanderingWagners 5 жыл бұрын
Haha no stove top🙄 in sure Paula agrees with me! My mom always used hint grown pumpkin or butternut squash for pie, but I didn't have any this year so had to use a can of pumpkin... At least I refuse to use store bought pie crust haha mmm we love Apple crisp and she's right... Never to many apples😋

Somehow I managed to not pay attention to the oven when we bought our rig and it is too small to cook a bird of any size. I now have a "BigEZ" IR Cooker (Oil-less Fryer) and I can do turkeys, pork butts etc...of course outside since it is a propane fired cooker (One draw back when it is cold). It does a nice job and cooks quickly and provides a nice "fried" skin. I know they now have larger roasters that use electric as well for indoor use, but I have no experience with that. An alternative for us who's oven's are not up to the task! Your meal looked awesome though and I am going to apply some of this next year! Thank you for sharing!
@WanderingWagners
@WanderingWagners 5 жыл бұрын
The oven we had in our last Jaco was smaller than this one and it was tricky to cook a turkey but the turkey we use are bone in turkey breast so it's missing the legs and wings so it is more compact and even fit in our smaller Jaco oven. Just have to move the rack to the bottom or remove the rack all together. But whatever you have that works is what matters most! Thanks for watching!
@rvninnorthcarolina3377
@rvninnorthcarolina3377 5 жыл бұрын
@@WanderingWagners Yeah, I got the new Furrion 17" and I am unsure if it is intended to be an oven at all. You can cook a pizza or a 2-3" high casserole, but there is no room for a bird unless it is like a pheasant or smaller. From the outside is seems large enough but open the oven door...not so much. Have you ever cooked right on the bottom plate of the oven (no rack at all)? Seems like it would get too hot(?) but I have given it a thought. Anyone done that successfully?

Great dinner. Good job. How did you get such a small turkey? We always try to get the smallest we can. Seems to taste better and be more tender. I assume your rig is four season. Were those sights full hookups. What was the name of the campground? Run in to any snow up there?
@WanderingWagners
@WanderingWagners 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks the dinner was fabulous! The turkey is a bone in, turkey breast... No legs or wings so it's smaller. They're wonderful! We find them at Walmart. Had them almost every Thanksgiving now. Yes our rig is capable of winter camping but luckily this wasn't very cold. Highs in the 40s. Our site wasn't full hook up but this campground does have several that are. No snow at the campground but we've been getting snow almost daily, just nothing much has stuck. We have just the grass covered now, but it'll melt this weekend.

Wow Lynne your meal looks great! I have never really used an RV oven much because they don't seem to cook well. However we just upgraded to an Airstream in October. We did our first Airstream Thanksgiving in James River State Park, VA. I used the instant pot to cook a 3 pound Frozen boneless Turkey roast in 55 minutes plus pressure and de-pressure time. I found this great recipe at thenovicechef.com/instant-pot-turkey-gravy. Question: How do you have the spice rack attached to the aluminum wall in the kitchen?

Didn't see a baking stone in your oven, how do you prevent burning?
@WanderingWagners
@WanderingWagners 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure why people think you need a stone to prevent burning etc. I've never had one and never had issues. If you have a smaller cubic foot oven, you will just have to turn the temp down and watch and learn how your oven cooks. This oven we have now, I cook at normal cooking temps, and it Cooks evenly and has never burned anything. I mean look at that pie!😍 Popular belief is that if you don't use a stone, it'll burn...I like to prove that wrong every time I feature a cooking segment. Earlier this summer, I baked a perfect cake as well! Great question and I'm glad you asked it so I could dispel that rumor.
