I am a female that just plugged something in and if a fuse went screamed fix it. Spoiled most of my life and remained ignorant on how electrical power works. I am now 56 years old and homeless living in a travel trailer in Canada. I like how you teach I can understand and follow along. Thank you for your time and knowledge and your willingness to share.

Can this guy do every instructional video on youtube please. I'm just now seeing this 4 years later. Why is this guy not in every commercial representing every major company. He's like the Sam Elliot of tutorial, diy and walkthrough videos. Why are we not paying this man for simply being alive. My god some tutorials that are so long or blisteringly pointless that lead to dead ends or learning absolutely. This guy is gold. He's everybodys favorite mentor Somebody please make a movie about this guy. Or clone him for christs sake. Amazing video I'm an expert now seriously. He makes it so simple and easy. Excellent information. I am planning on moving into a trailer to be closer to job opportunities. The trailer I'm moving into has two 24V battery, being told that the system is only 12V. I was puzzled and a bit concerned so looking up electrical systems about trailers/rvs to be more informed. I've had some experience with electricity working on houses on and off throughout the years but when it came to the trailer, I felt like I couldn't really apply all of my previous knowledge to figure it out. The other part is that I didn't know about the power cord adapters going down in amps, that was super important. I'm going to be careful not to overload the system with too many things running. Thanks :) P.S. no worries on being long winded, its good to refresh and learn something new, still enjoyed and listened every second of it. That story of the neighbor hooking up that woman's trailer with 220v plug was a shock to hear but good to know. P.S.S. Never know if one day we might be able to see something to maybe help someone and save lives with this kind of information. This kind of information and knowledge awareness could potentially have one person save an entire family living in rv/trailer. Amazing

Personally I like using water supply piping as the analogy to Volts and Amps. Voltage is like the water pressure, and amps is the volume of water passing through the pipe. This also correlates to wire sizes.

Very informative video. Showing the basics is a must. I did Commercial electric for years and have been zapped by the heavy stuff.... it isn't fun. I was looking for a video that would cover the Converter section. I have a 1994 Coachman 5th wheel hooked up to a dual 30 amp service. All circuit breakers are hot, but none of the fuses are. The "hot wire" leading to the fuse panel is not hot. Is there a reset button somewhere. Hope you can help. Thanks
@rvwalkthru4 жыл бұрын
Definitely sounds like either the converter is disconnected from AC, the batteries are disconnected, or the converter is shot. Check the AC connection going into the converter while plugged into shore power to see if it's being fed. If so, check the 12 volt DC lines again. If no DC is present, I suspect the converter is toast. Good luck!

Two things. Amps are not the speed of electricity. Amps are the volume. A better analogy is water flow. Voltage is the pressure. Amps is the amount of water flowing. The other thing is a ground fault explanation. GFI or GFCI measure what current goes out of the receptacle. And what comes back to the receptacle. If the two aren’t the same there is a ground fault and the receptacle will trip. Good video.

Wow. As a newcomer to electrical engineering and circuitry, this explanation was extremely valuable! I bought a 2001 winnebago 31ft and I have trying to figure out why my generator wasn't working. Without being too invasive, I wanted to put my electromagnetic knowledge to the test but without any prior hands on experience, I was as useless as someone without any knowledge of electricity. You really helped me see and see the relevance of my studies in a real world situation and also help me further my non-invasive investigation of the generator so thank you two times!

Very well presented and informative video. Just a thought on hooking up batteries in parallel. In the UK it's common practice to hook the batteries together the way you show only we take the positive to the electrical system from the first battery and the negative to ground from the 2nd battery. The theory is when hooked up the way you show the first battery charges and drains more often than the 2nd one, where as hooked up the other way it drains and charges both batteries at the same rate, also if one battery drops cells it doesn't drain the other battery. Is there a reason the same practice isn't carried out across the pond?

This was a very well-done video. You're very good at simplifying things. If you were anyone happens to catch this message soon, I could really use some help. I have an elderly lady who lives in a trailer park. She lives in a small camper unit. She recently had her AC, refrigerator, and all lighting go out. Her receptacles still work and her microwave works. I had a guy tell me that if the microwave is still working, The converter is not bad, but I wasn't registering anything where the converter ties in to the fuse panel. I'm speculating that I may have just been told wrong and that the microwave is just on a basic plug circuit. All the breakers are on and functioning and the receptacle that the refrigerator is plugged into is working, but at the refrigerators converter, I read no voltage at the 12 V terminal, so something had to fry it...
@Fusionmatt208 жыл бұрын
