The Cass Scenic Railroad is full of many amazing logging railroading equipment. Such as their Shay steam locomotives. They also have a Heisler locomotive, three 2-8-0 steam locomotives, and two Climax steam locomotives. My favorite steam locomotive here is Cass Scenic Railroad Shay #5 (Built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1905, as the oldest operational Shay steam locomotive in the world).

Rode the train to the top with a buddy years ago. Backpacked down to town generally following the tracks. Stayed in the old town of Cass up on the mountain where the loggers stayed while harvesting the mountain. There was nothing left of the town but some stone foundations. Great hike down, but riding the train is the best to go up!

'Bald Knob......that's me in hysterics...British humour I'm afraid😛. We do have a lot of steam trains still running in the UK, most of them are ran by volunteers but always a rush to see them and we have a railways museum about 4 miles always at a place called Shildon (the birthplace of the railway), where Gorge Stevenson ran his very first train journey. That was some steep climb, just was well you were in the train and not hiking it but a shame the mist was down for the viewing point at....... not going to say it or I will be off again! Different video but a real interesting one, cheers Alan

2nd👍 Congraturation to you on surpassing "7K"🍾🍾🎇🎇🎆🎆🎉🎉 I love a locomotive train ride compared with bullet trains in my home town. This trip is the best way to relax and enjoy "spectacular views of mountain scenery" listening to the locomotive whisttes. Wow, misty/fogy air....I like slowing down our lives and take time enjoying those moments...5:59 So in spite of the weather, this trip will go on and I must book it in advance...noted📝 It's understandable how difficult to film from inside of the car, not able to avoid noises and movements. But certainly beautiful. Well said. Thank you so much. I am a kayaker, but you are one of my inspirations to go to high land, so I did. I will be honored if you can take a few mins of your precious time to watch the vid in a couple weeks at Kaya7seas. Even though I don't feel my legs at this moment, the view from the top of the Grandfather's Mountain was "SPECTACULAR." I almost thought of giving-up and call a rescue team. 😲😲

The House Party 4 rocks! I use it very frequently. Be sure to seam seal it and spray seal it. It didn't leak during several rain storms but found small leak after maybe like the 5th time in the rain. I'm not sure Ron. I thought I saw a train car on the tracks that looked like you could stay in it. I know you can stay above the general store. This was such a cool experience to got up to a summit on not on a train, but on a steam engine like in the old days. There are some other train rides through the state.
