Abandoned Mine Exploring with Tom and Julie

Күн бұрын

In this video, we pick up where we left off in part 1, where we were rounding the corner, and the main part of the Gold Ace comes into view. This is a very interesting mine and unique as it has many large openings where huge amounts of ore were removed. Outside, there is a large waste rock pile, an ore bin, a very big rock wall, and an equipment pad. We picked an opening and ventured in. Once inside, we were surprised by the size and randomness of the workings. There are also several dangerous shafts and pits that want to suck you into them. We found a set of ore car tracks and followed them throughout the upper level. We then climbed down a ladder that led to a wooden ore chute that we went through and ended up on a lower drift level. After exploring the lower level, we found another way back up to the ground level and exited the mine. We hope you enjoy the video!
Here is the link to the video of part one of this mine complex:

Mines are really that inviting to live in for the most part. There are always rats in them, and they are obviously very dark. We have seen a couple over the years that were being used as a shelter but not often at all. Thanks for commenting, Peter!👍😊

3:31 When the fault shear surface is flat like that it is known as a "Tabular" formation. When dealing with them always inspect the pillars left to hold up the workings as the vein will be there. 7:16 Signs of a fire to drive out Bats. I see a bunch of places. 12:01 The ballroom is left when ever a tabular vein is removed. (Wide and flat) I saw some Limonite and quartz which is some of what they were after. Limonite being one type of iron ore and when iron is present, gold is near by. ("Gold rides an Iron horse." Old miner's saying) Thanks for another good video!

Hi Tom and Julie, what a very interesting mine, how many levels does this have? It’s set in a very nice area of the desert. Did you see any quartz veins? Sure did alot of blasting, what a maze! I like it when you find tracks but too bad you didn’t find an orecart. What area is this close to? We are trying to enjoy Vegas but I really want to go back to Tucson, traffic here is crazy , but I do enjoy traveling here and will definitely check out Rhyolite again, one of my favorite places! Stay healthy and safe out there! Great Video!

Hi Ron. It's definitely an interesting layout with all the openings at the portal. We could only find the two levels with some upper stopes or sub levels. This mine is near Beatty, NV. We try to stay away from Vegas because of the traffic. Rhyolite is just up the road from here, so it would be a good one for you to visit if you go there. Thanks for the comment!👍😊

Thanks Tom & Julie, I was in CA for three years from 1962 to 1965 after I came back from Korea and was stationed at Ft. Ord. Now I am way too old to be hiking to do it but enjoy what you and your lady are doing. I am originally from the coal mining heart of PA near Shamokin, PA. You're right about getting old. My late father in law used to say it's not for the timid. And now that I'm approaching 70, I'm beginning to understand.

Yes, at 67 I'm understanding very well that the 'golden years' aren't necessarily all that they're cracked up to be. I'm looking for a hobby other than mine exploring that is easier on the body. Thanks, Dan! 👍😊

This mine is insane, the thought of finding gold they dug every where and in every direction, I didnt see anything of any value in the rock, looks like a dangerous place and the need to be careful due the amount holes everywhere, Thanks for the tour, I wonder if the they found much gold back in the day. Not likely
@TomandJulieMineExploring
@TomandJulieMineExploring 11 ай бұрын
Hi Len. I'm sure they found gold here, although I don't have the production numbers in front of me. The old miners were pretty sharp at identifying valuable mineral veins and removing them. Here is some information on Nevada's gold production, even though it's known more for producing silver. Thanks for the comment!👍😎 westernmininghistory.com/4210/gold-districts-of-nevada/

Another great explore. Any chance you could post a video of nice camping areas around Death Valley and up into Nevada?
@TomandJulieMineExploring
@TomandJulieMineExploring Жыл бұрын
Thanks, Bill. I think Death Valley is closed right now. I'm guessing it will still be a mess from the major flash flooding that occurred on August 20th. I'm guessing that there will be some of the major roads opening first, but many areas will be closed for some time. I'll keep your suggestion in mind to see what I can do. Thanks for the comment!👍😊

Hi Robert. Thanks for the nice comment! I'm glad that you like the videos. I spend a fair amount of time replying to the comments that we get. I think it's rude when people don't reply to their subscribers. I understand if you have a huge channel and aren't able to respond to everyone, but ours is still manageable enough to reply.👍😊❤️
