One time, I found one of those single-serving cups of yogurt, unopened in the fridge, and when I checked the date I found it was over a year past its expiry date. I opened it and smelled it, and it smelled fine! So I ate it. It tasted as good as yogurt ever does, and I didn't have any issues. OTOH, I was at a friend's house once, wit a couple of other friends, when the guy who lived there took a packet of ground meat from the fridge, smelled it, then asked another friend to smell it. The second guy nearly threw up. I had a good laugh, but kept my distance from that meat, which the second guy said was totally rotten. Some things really do go bad quickly, while others just don't. Moldy cheese? Just cut the mold off! Moldy vegetables? Compost or garbage. It seems the cost of traditional composite shingle roofing has gone way up. When we were selling one house, the buyers' inspector said it needed a new roof. We got estimates, gave them a concession for that. At the next house, we had a major hail storm, needed a new roof. These houses were about the same roof size, in the same metro area, but the second one was way more expensive than the first. At some point, just going with metal seems like a better option. It's a bit more expensive up front, but lasts a lot better. Many of the houses we've been looking at lately have metal roofs, and we always take that as an added feature.

Hi Mike. Been looking at your crumbling back step walkway.. maybe instead of tearing it up just build a little deck over it and then you’ll have extra room for your BBQ..with all u have going on I’m sure that fix is on the back burner. Great videos and I enjoy your rants!

We had estimates to do new steps and wrap around deck on the back.. But we didn't go through with it... Yet..

Interesting way they install a metal roof up there using furring strips, that would never work here in Florida you have to tear off the old roof and then put peel and stick membrane down then its inspected then they can install the panels directly screwing them into the trusses and then its inspected again before a final clearance.

Yeah, that's one of the main reasons that we are having a hard time moving to Florida. They push all these extra regulations when it comes to Roofing due to hurricanes and high winds and yet you can't get insurance. Or if you do secure a premium it's costly, (I can't imagine missing an arm or a leg) Lol That's the same thing Heidi and I say whenever we see or have experienced people in Florida that barely put any of their water lines in the ground or they have their well pump and pressure tank just sitting out in the front yard. That would definitely not work up here.. LOL

If the plane is going around and around, they might be in a holding pattern. OMG sunny boy, who taught you how to drive, mama Heidi gonna give you a talking to. lol OMG, I can't stop laughing at Mike playing the bike buyer customer, too funny! 🤣 They did a great job installing the metal roofing, just a little more to finish it up is all. But scary to know there is no insulation in places, that has got to be fixed. Good on ya getting the vents though.

Insurance companies are not a service industry. I have been dealing with mine for over two months. They want to patch it with unmatching shingles. In Ohio, if there are not longer matching singles of the same type, they have to put on a whole new roof. Obviously, they are trying to avoid that. They sure want your money but service forget. And you may not even be able to understand the person calling on the phone either.

Hey Mike and Heidi I've seen these newer style camper out lately that's a travel trailer maybe 30 feet or less but Xtra taller with a coverd porch on the back area.slidung doorwall...just wondering if you both seen these around?

We have seen a few. Definitely interesting. We have learned to make sure that when a new feature is available or a specific design on an RV that is unique, that we make sure that it's something that we would use. If not it may be wasted space..

Hay Pal, I really hope your being very careful with some of these people coming to your house for those bikes. Maybe it's my old job speaking but you just don't know what's on people minds particularly asking to come at night... BTW, your roof looks good and should last longer then you'll keep the house. As for insurance company, They're in business to collect your money and not to pay a claim... The biggest racket of legal robbers that I know..
