Manzanar is a MUST VISIT for all. The rebuilding has been an amazing undertaking over the last two decades since the main Interpretive Center opened in 2004. Thank you for including this portion of our history that unfortunately is usually excluded in today’s curriculum.

Hi , longtime subscriber here. There's are numerous key factors as to why your so successful on KZbin my friend. But I must point out one key factor, you have a distinctly Mellifluous voice . In a sense , you remind me of Bob Ross . The beloved American painter on PBS . You have a very smooth voice that puts people at ease , God knows in this day & age we could all use a little audio therapy. Your videos have always been enlightening, informative and entertaining. Thank you for allowing us to tag along on your journey's. I'm relatively certain you have single-handedly inspired countless folks to strike out on their own adventures. Myself included . And I hope to meet & thank you personally out there on the road someday. Until then , God bless you and keep you safe.

When I hear your comments as you travel, I often smile because you remind of my travels & how similar your thoughts mimic mine. I grew up in Ohio & now live in Hawaii, don't do any road trips anymore & I miss that. As an Asian American. I want to thank you for visiting Manzanar & your respectful reflections on it's importance😊

Great Russ. The Lone Ranger came over to England by the BBC mid 50s. The first cowboy I saw apart from in books & comics. An indelible memory watching this on my grandmother's TV starting a life-long passion for westerns. The start was him galloping along the Alabama flats at Lone Pine filmed in black & white. In 1956 the start was filmed in colour at Iversons Ranch. This start is always tagged on to all b&w episodes on TV & DVDs, thus depriving viewers of the far more exciting, original beginning. Happy Trails.

The lone ranger show still gets cable TV airtime here in USA. Showtime is everyday recently on GRIT channel around noon or 10 a.m. As an american I've been a fan since the 1970's

So glad you stopped at Manzanar. It’s vitally important to never forget. A visit inside, with original radio broadcasts, films, and documentation is a sobering experience. At the Lone Pine Visitor Center, it surprised me: no mention of Mount Whitney, the highest point in the Contiguous U.S. It’s clearly visible from there. And interesting to note that the highest point of elevation is only a hundred miles plus from the lowest elevation point, at Death Valley where you toured. Fun video, regardless. 😊

I stayed in Death Valley N.P. in the first week of June 2016. Only myself and one other person in the campground. It was the last weekend for that campground to be open until the Fall. Met a French couple out on Bad Water Basin and warned them if they weren't sweating, they were already dehydrated; gave them some water and suggested they head back. I waited until they safely returned to the parking lot. By the time I got back at 9:30 am it was in the lower 100s F.

Wow. 90 at sunrise. Love hitting the road as the light is just breaking - especially in the desert. Not the heat part though. And the heat ain't everywhere. Cold damp and drizzly this morning here on the west coast. June-gloom as it's long been called. Some folks would rather have the heat. I'd just like to see some blue sky fairly soon. Can see it over on the other side of the mountains but I doubt will get it here. Another good one here! Cheers. 👍

Wow! Russ, that was a very interesting trip in time to Manzanar. I grew up in Gardena, CA in the 60s, all my friends were Japanese kids. Seems like all the families I knew were doing well by that time and had put the hard times behind them. In fact it wasn't till I had a Japanese friend in the 80s who told me about his family being there as we drove to Mammoth to go skiing that I learned about the place and what had happened there. Was a different world than what we live in now. I really hope and pray that scene never plays out again in America. Great video!

You're driving the areas I used to explore on my summer vacations when I lived in California. The only thing I miss about that place. The dirt road you passed in the beginning is the west side road. Then took 190 through Death Valley stopped off at Zabrisky Point and Mesquite Sand Dunes and ended up in Lone Pine at Tuttle Creek Campgrounds. It was around 4 pm when I traveled through there and I was blown away by the scenery of Death Valley. I will be at Overland expo pnw in Redmond Oregon on June 28-30 and hopefully I will see you there. I’m working the Kakadu Showers and helping that company out by helping tend the showers.
