Beautiful video. Brought back many memories. Our family traveled the bear tooth pass in the 60s. It was in August. Yellowstone was celebrating Christmas in August. As we approached the peak, the snow was incredible. In fact, we were stuck up there. Trucks were pulling cars out. We only had a half tank of gas in the car. Dad was concerned we were going to run out. Drove down a few curves on the mountain . No snow. As we made it to Red Lodge, they heard they closed Bear tooth pass . That was an incredible adventure

Made the very same journey through Idaho in early October before they closed Beartooth Pass for the season. Only I went on into W. Yellowstone and entered the park there. What a beautiful trip. No regrets. I plan on doing a similar trip next September but driving the Chief Joseph highway this time. In June, I drove to the top of Sawtelle Peak in Island Park, always wanted to do that. That's the peak with the big golf ball on top. Actually a radome. Then went to W. Yellowstone for lunch, then visited the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center, and enjoyed the wolves howling "Happy Birthday" to me.

I’m glad I found this video. Brings back some great memories. I used to go over the Beartooth several times for work many many years ago. I do remember that RV’s and large trucks were cautioned (maybe banned?) not to go over that highway and for good reason. But it looks like they’ve widened and smoothed the road since my day.

Absolutely beautiful video. Actually, nursing a case of pneumonia, right now, with the big screen.T v in front of me, driving through montana with you.... You have inspired me to get back on the road. By the end of 2025, I wanna get a van and get back to exploring the US. i had an r v years ago, but ended up having to sell it only after two years driving cross country and working full time on the road. The best time of my life after raising the kids. I'm hoping I can finish my life out traveling the roads in enjoying the beauty of this country.

Traveled down through there in the winter in the 18wheeler on the way from the UP of Michigan to Sacramento California. They don't use salt on that road because of Yellowstone. So the road was packed snow and ice, very rough and slippery, but we made it. Fun, fun, fun. Beautiful country.

I drove up Mt. Evans out of Denver. It's Pike's Peak's twin. The road is 14K feet at the top. On the way up the oxygen sensor on my car went off. At that altitude, I couldn't walk more than 20 feet before becoming winded. The bumper stickers said, "Got Air?"

Thank you, Russ. I’m 73 and never thought I’d get to go on Bear Tooth Pass and now I have!!! I have an 18’ teardrop camper. Even that small I wouldn’t want to take it through there. When I was at Rocky Mountain National Park, they said not to walk on the tiny plants above the tree line. Some plants were 500 years old and were barely 3 inches tall. I guess the tundra on top is very very fragile and grows very very slowly.

Me and my husband and three children can go through Montana coming from the east. We stayed in a timeshare log cabin and It was so beautiful I kinda was disappointed at first with the scenery at first cause I couldn't see anything but fog. I went up to the loft and wow my jaw dropped I could see those high beautiful mountains I could see even the ski slops. We were going to just drive up the mountains to Yellowstone but that day it had snowed and they closed the roads down . So later on the day as we had planned to leave the roads were open backed up. I had cooked a meal of fried chicken potato salad and snacks. The views were amazing my husband was driving and here I am scared of heights he said hey you're going to have to drive he was getting dizzy and he got nervous I told him no way I could drive so after about five mins he started feeling better. And there was no pull off so he had to keep on driving. We walked over to the lookout and can't remember what it was called but it was amazing of all those mountains. The cars coming up the mountains looked like ants crawling up the mountains. We saw a Hugh brown bear and buffalo and a badger and I tell you it was mad I was driving and my husband said put the camera out and take a picture well that the badger came charging at our van and he hit it so hard it put a dent at the bottom of the door. Why that thing eat me up if it got a hold of me lol . But after that we went down the mountain and there was a valley it took my breath away so we parked I got our blanket and food out and had a picnic watching fly fisherman I will never forget that day. Driving across Beartooth mountain was a trip I never forget my children were a little bored tho. This was back in the 80s about 5 maybe 10 years before the big fire. We saw Ole Faithful and a lot of geysers. I thank God we had a chance to go visit Yellowstone and stay 4 nights in Red Lodge a beautiful little town. I wished I could go back again cause I was in love with Montana beautiful state. I would encourage anyone to go visit one day. It's worth every penny you spend to go though the Beartooth mountain ❤❤
