Russ, this is the best video you’ve ever done! We have traveled this area extensively enjoying all of the things you featured. The Durango and Silverton railroad, the Cumbre is in Toltec railroad in Chama New Mexico, the Hot Springs pools in Pagosa Springs, and of course the incomparable Million Dollar highway. Just wanted to congratulate you on a work of art.

The Durango train ride is incredible. Forget the price, it's worth it. Breathtaking scenery. I've done it twice and you can either do the full trip up and back or just do the ride to Silverton and bus ride back.

I’ve only been watching your channel for a few months now and it’s become one of mine and my boyfriend’s favorite channels to watch together. I started watching you because it reminded me of my many RV travels with my Grandma over the years. You’ve been to many of the same places we’ve been too. One thing I regret is not taking more photos and video with her on those trips. She now has Alzheimer’s and can no longer take our beloved trips with me anymore. Your videos remind me of a time when we used to travel together and I look forward to every time you post a new one. 💚

I am so glad i caught this vid. I drove that entire highway and did not realize at the time it was the Million dollar highway. All i know is once i left Utah, I entered on my gps, take me to New Mexico. That fall they had an early snow. Unknown to me at the time. I asked the GPS, take me the shortest way to New Mexico. OH my God, it was the most memorable drive i took to this day. Stunning at every turn. I did say many a prayer, that i didn’t fall off one of the step cliffs. Then, at one of the the last turns…..Silverton appeared. I like you enjoy early morning road trips. Silverton, was shinning in the morning sun. Thank you for posting and glad you too had. Grand time. God bless

Enjoying this video, Russ. I especially liked the looks of Chama, NM. It looks like such a beautiful place. By the way my son told me about the Waze travel app. It alerts you to road block/construction zones, traffic jams etc. Said travelers constantly report things as they go along so it stays updated pretty well. The I-Drive app works pretty good for us in AR as well. Thanks for sharing! Safe travels.🕊️

The old Railroad there in Chama is all apart of the old Narrow Gage Trains from the 1800's. I believe the line started in Antonito, Colorado, dropped down into N.M., and back up to Durango, then up to Silverton. The only two place left is Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railway from Chama, NM to Antonito, CO. and Durango/Silverton Railway Trains.

Yes indeed, this is a wonderful video. This country is dear to my heart. Thank you for a great trip down memory lane!👍 Back in 1988, I treated my Mom to a visit to Durango & Silverton. We spent night one at the Strater Hotel in Durango, then next day the train ride to Silverton and back to Durango. Night two was camping at Untited Campground north of Durango (spot next to the railroad where we saw the morning train we were on pass by our campsite the next morning). Then back to Phoenix to get her home! 😄

Those switchback roads remind me of US 250 and 33 in West Virginia. I thought the train depot was very cool especially the round house where that locomotive was being staged for a train trip to Silverton. The people there in western Colorado have to be very hardy in living in those mountainous areas. Bitter cold there now and a lot of snow. Thanks for the extended tour of the trip made for part 1 road trip.

You missed the big Waterfall where there was too many people stopped, and you couldn't pull in. and back where you said there must be a trail or something, was the beginning of Black Bear road. And where you did stop and there is part of Ouray, there is a huge waterfall coming out of a hole in the wall of solid rock. Also there is a Campground above Ouray pronounced "your-ay". Nat'l forest campground. Stayed up there once. We love this part of Colorado. We are from Arkansas! Also you missed the great part of Silverton and a great ghost town just outside of there called Animas Forks. You can drive a regular vehicle up to it. And also there is a gold mine tour up there that is called The old Hundred gold mine. For when you go back.

Wow, the twists and turns and views of The Million Dollar Highway were indeed spectacular! I’ve driven some of a must-see twisty-turney scenic highway in Colorado years ago and nope, not again. Sure, the views were amazing, but too scary for me! Although it is pretty cool exploring them with you …from my comfy chair at home. 😂 Thanks for another top-notch video, Russ! 📽
