I'm Canadian but I live near the Michigan border and as a result I've spent *a lot* of time there in both summer and winter. Growing up my family skied in the winter and went camping in the summer in Northern Michigan. It really is a beautiful area to visit and I highly recommend making the trip up in your RV one year. Since Andrew is an aspiring writer-philosopher-mathematician, I thought he might be interested to read about Omar Khayyam, an 11th century Persian mathematician, astronomer, philosopher and poet. His book of poetry, The Rubaiyat, is a popular work. He was a prolific mathematician but since I'm a non-mathematician I don't understand any of his mathematical treatise. But I'm sure Andrew will totally get them! (p.s. looking forward to reading Andrew's book one day when he publishes it!)

Megan, have you and Mike ever considered writing a book? Your family has led (and continues to lead) such a wonderful, interesting and highly entertaining life and I'm sure you have enough stories, advice, travel tips etc. to fill *two* books let alone one. lol I ask because I'd be extremely interested in hearing/reading what you have to say and would be one of the first in line to purchase said book. I'm pretty sure you have *a lot* of fans like myself who would love to purchase a copy too. 😊

Oh, wow! Those courses sound awesome! When I was homeschooling in the 70s and 80s it was a real struggle. Andrew will make a big inpression on this world!!! He's incredible! When you go to the Midwest, be sure to visit WI and especially Eau Claire. It's on the way from Chicago to Madison to Eau Claire and on to the Twin Cities, Minnesota, which is also a beautiful state - and WI and MN have the friendliest folks!! Loved the short Jude cam - he's adorable. What a great road trip!
@courtneyb61894 жыл бұрын
As a lifelong Wisconsinite, i totally suggest you come up here in the RV! If you come from your direction you could come up by Chicago, stop there and do fun Chicago things, and then make sure to go to Door County WI. You get incredible views of the lake and there are tons of small businesses and artsy things to explore. If you come to the West side of the state toward Minnesota, there's a tiny town called Nelson that's right on the Mississippi with a bridge to MN and an RV park. Nelson has a locally owned creamery with cheese, ice cream, sandwiches, pizza, and other treats. My brother-in-law's sister owns a pizza place outside of Nelson in the valleys of Buffalo county, called the Stone Barn, where they have awesome wood-fired pizzas in a renovated old barn with antiques and art for sale. Once you make it over the river to MN, not far is a family owned business called Lark Toys where they have antique toys and a hand-carved carousel for everyone to ride. They also have ice cream and hand-made toys and lots of fun things to explore. I definitely recommend coming in the fall when the leaves are turning! Just my two cents :)
@courtneyb61894 жыл бұрын
The National Eagle Center is also in Wabasha MN which is directly across the bridge from Nelson WI, so the kids can learn all about eagle preservation and see some bald eagles up close! Wabasha has lots of fun historical things to do, and Lark Toys is also near Wabasha (forgot to mention that above)

I’ve traveled that section of I-80 through Wyoming and Nebraska so often, it’s nearly memorized! I grew up (and my father still lives) in Northeastern Nebraska, and I actually graduated high school in Evanston, Wyoming. I now live elsewhere in Wyoming. I was so excited to see video of areas where I frequently travel. Wyoming is beautiful, and I’m so glad you liked visiting especially Vedauwoo/Buford. I was hopeful you’d show footage of the tunnels on the interstate and the Palisades that those tunnels go through. They where always an exciting landmark to reach when traveling especially when most of south central Wyoming is so desolate!

We have so many cool things to do! I know you love tourist traps and the Mackinaw City/St Ignace area is full of them! Also you have to take the kids to Mackinac Island. There are no cars! Here’s my Ohio pitch 😉: Lake Erie Islands are fun...We stay at East Harbor State park... has its own beach. Ferries to the islands. Lighthouses (THE oldest US Great Lakes lighthouse in continuous operation. ) Confederate cemetery on Johnson’s Island. Cedar Point Amusement Park .... always rates tops for its coasters plus they have a nice beach , waterpark and an RV village. Cleveland has countless gems. Tour a great lakes freighter...how about a submarine? Cleveland Museum of Art is free and the kids would love the Armor Court. Further east ...Headlands beach is enormous...with a lighthouse that a single lady purchased and uses as a summer home! Hit Holden arboretum for the above the trees birds eyes view on the canopy walk emergent tower Views include lake erie. Heading south is Cuyahoga Valley National Park... with its lovely Brandywine Falls. Head south to stunning Hocking Hills...waterfalls & caves galore! And that’s just a few of the wonderful things Ohio had to offer!🤓
