I've lived in Southeast Alaska for 14 years. They give good advice in this video. Local companies are the way to go and can get you places that even locals know are hard to get to without special transport. I live in a cruise ship area and those cruise ships mob the place during the day and leave a ghost town at night, so knowing which days in advance is for sure the best idea

Wow. You guys are building a fantastic channel. Lots of folks have done the Alaska thing but your vids are above and beyond. Course your regular content has been really entertaining too. Don't get in the trap of trying to outdo every trip. Sadly lots of KZbinrs have succumbed to burnout and channel death by overdoing it. Love your energy and would hate to loose it as part of our weekly coffee routine.

Yes, Talkeetna Air Taxi is great. We also took the flight over Denali 12 years ago. It was hot when we were there, about 80 degrees in Fairbanks and Denali NP, and 87 the day we took the flight over "the mountain" when we stayed in Talkeetna. We did visit a few dog training camps and played with the puppies but we didn't even realize we could go dog-sledding. I enjoyed the video. Keep up the good work.

Two of the biggest things we wanted to do in Alaska was ‘camp’ and do Denali. We flew up and rented an rv for two weeks. Our first stop? Campground near Denali. Day two was an 8 hr bus ride through Denali. My absolute favorite thing we did for two weeks. The animals and scenery were unbelievable and breathtaking. The cost was great and so much to see. We did so many other things, but most were planned and not bank account breakers. An absolute must do trip no matter what part of the country you are from!!

We RV'd Alaska twice and are going again! Pick up a Milepost magazine, it has absolutely everything to do in Alaska. Favorite places, Homer, Fairbanks, Talkeetna (we got to fly up via Talkeetna Air also, we didn't get to fly over Denali due to weather, but did land on the glacier, also try the fireweed ice cream while there!), North Pole, Wasilla for the state fair, drove along the Turnagain Arm, and saw the whales there, you really can't go wrong anywhere, the scenery is AMAZING!!!

Like you, our Cooper's Landing fishing excursion was a bust when we did that several years ago. My wife assumed that I would want a chance to land a large salmon so she booked that one, although I would have been perfectly happy to just fish for trout. The trout excursions were catching a lot of fish. We also tried to do the helicopter trip to a dogsled camp (not sure if the same one you two went to) but it was socked in with fog that day. However, we were able to take a helicopter trip to a different glacier, land on it, and walk on it, so that was still a very rewarding day.

Lake Clark National Park is also accessed by boat from Anchor Point. Denali makes you work for it. I took sunrise pics at 3:18am, at a lookout, off the park hwy. Go early or late in the day,for abetter shot. By booking ahead you secure a spot. However, you also may have booked a bad weather day. We lucked out. Lake Clark with bears and LuLuBelle excursion, booked ahead, were good weather days. We also booked some unplanned excursions, the day before. If you haven't booked a fishing trip in Homer and change your mind, go to a bait store. They may know a charter that is looking for more people. Alaska was definitely an experience of a life time.

Awwww, I seriously teared up about the sled dogs, that's how much my heart smiled! Speaking of heart-smiles....I'm working on adopting a senior Min-Pin named....Dexter! He lost his home when his elderly human became sick and couldn't take care of him anymore, so he was surrendered to a Rescue Organization. My heart just went right out to him, instantly. The paperwork is all done, just waiting for an appt to go meet him! (And hopefully bring him home the same day!)

Hello Kyle and Rene, I am really glad you experienced Alaska! I also appreciate the fact that you are promoting it! As a 47 year Alaskan, I can say I have done many of the things you have done, but not all. I get to experience in different ways like snow machining, riding my UTV, and just driving around. I have done many fishing charters, dipnetted for salmon (subsistence fishing for Alaskans only), viewed glaciers from far away to right up walking on them. I have flown many miles on small planes although mostly in rural Alaska from on of my jobs. That was fascinating meeting Alaska Natives on their turf. This all being said, your video really does show the many different activities one can do whether you are a visitor or a resident. If you like the outdoors, you will love Alaska! Happy RVing, and it was great meeting you at the Anchorage rally!

I live in Alaska and am having a blast watching the [3] of you experiencing this great state. I do get frustrated by wanting to add some tips - but know by the time I see the video, it’s too late. For example; the day of unsuccessful fishing in the Kenai. Oh man! You were on the wrong side of the bridge! A little further down the River (well, OK, 10+ miles further), you could’ve had much better results. But your enthusiasm is contagious and you are spot on by recommending the excursions. So glad you are having a good time! Oh, hey … do you know about the zip-line at [approx] Mile 100 of the Glenn Hwy? 😉

We also spent the summer in AK and had a great time! Our best excursion was flying with our friend from Anchorage to Denali for the afternoon. He and his wife are both pilots and they used to work for a tour company flying visitors up on the mountain. We were able to rent a 172 at Merril Field for the 4 hour trip. It makes it extra special to share memories with friends. Probably 2nd best was a boat trip out of Homer to watch grizzly bears in Chikitna Bay near Clark Lake. We traveled 24,800 miles and glad to be home! What an adventure.

Got back from our 2 month trip to AK on September 8th (our 50th anniversary) and couldn't have had a better way to celebrate! I couldnt get over how intense the green is everywhere. We were lucky...we only had a couple days with rain and they were while we were driving between destinations or sleeping. I agree, we didnt see a lot of wildlife. But as a ranger said, the wildlife has plenty of area to stay away from humans, which made plenty of sense. But, on the otherhand, the 2 cruises we took did not disappoint, sea life everywhere! And, YES, the length of the cruise is a mere suggestion. Our 7.5 cruise was 9 hours, but so worth it!

We went to Alaska the first time tis summer also. We rode the Alaska RR from Anchorage to Denali and spent a few days taking in as much of DNP as possible. We were lucky to have TWO days the mountain was visible!! But the National Park Service sled dog kennel may have been my favorite part. After returning to Anchorage we drove to Seward and Kenia Fjords NP to see the Exit Glacier. We also drove through a tunnel shared by the Alaska RR and the road to Whittier just to see what it was like. When we return next year, I think the Seavey's Sled Dog tour will be a 'must do'. This has been a great series. (It's how I discovered the Hanks!) Looking forward to your future adventures.
