Thanks Chris! We completely agree and the little bit of anxiety re the ferries was more than worth it....we loved Fogo Island.

My husband and I really enjoyed watching this. We went to Fogo Island in our Oct 2017 trip. Camped at the same beautiful campground and was delighted to see that little fox is still hanging around. We went to the same restaurant for dinner. The name evades me now. Lol.

@ It great….We now live in The Ole Church, about 30 minutes drive from the Ferry Wharf. Many Fogo Islanders live here. We get to Fogo as often as we can.

Love your informative videos! 😊 We have the same ram pickup as you and are thinking of getting the same MiniLite as you. Could you please let us know what kind of fuel mileage you get ie; 100 kms per hrs on flat terrain? Keep up the great work on your videos! 😊

Thanks very much Debbie, glad you’re enjoying the series! We love our Rockwood 2109s. On a level road with no headwind we would get between 9-11 mpg. I will say that when we are fully loaded, full water tank and truck bed filled with gear, we were pushing our 1500 close to its max payload. Obviously it handled it fine but we didn’t like being that close to the edge so we just ugraded to a Ram 2500 with the bigger gas hemi engine. We towed the trailer down to Virginia a few weeks ago a nd found the hd truck got better mileage while towing (10-12mpg) and obviously it wasn’t working near as hard. But of course the new truck gets worse mileage when not towing, especially around town. Hope this helps!

That place looks fantastic. It is without any doubt on our itinerary for next spring. Those hiking trails, have to be some of the most amazing anywhere.... Great advice for ferries as well. thank you , and continued safe travels....

This was very timely as we are researching Fogo Island. Now will be doing a two night vs a one night due to ferry. What month did you go? Thanks again and can’t wait for next video.

I’m just watching your series on NFLD again this week and making notes as we are going back in June. (We did a 10 day tour with truck camper Sept ‘23 but now we have a tow behind) You mentioned no dump at Campground on Fogo, was there somewhere else to dump our did you have to wait to get back to mainland? Anyway great videos. Thanks

We read that there was a place to dump in the town of Seldom but as we were trying to get to the ferry as quickly as possible we just dumped at our next stop. We’ll also mention the Elliston Municipal Campground near Bonavista also has no dump station but there is one at the Ultramarine station in Bonavista. Hope this helps.

Thanks for info. One more thing as I start my planning and booking, it seems that I need to join ‘RV booking sites’ to book places on. I don’t remember that 2 years ago but maybe I just forgot…lol. But when you booked your campgrounds and ferries in NFLD, did you do it by phoning in or on line? Also we went in Sept (kinda off season), any other advice if we are going in June like you did? Again I’m trying to get this booked and I wanna make sure we don’t have disappointments or other setbacks by not covering all bases. (I know you mention to be ‘flexible’…). I have similar set up as you, you know with 1/2 ton pickup and 20’ tow behind. Thanks in advance for any info you provide. Looking forward to next video!

@@delta49 we booked the MA and Labrador ferries online (Fogo and Bell Island ferries are fcfs). Gros Morne CG was booked online on Parks Canada website. We booked Pippy Park by email (or link from their site) and Gander we booked by phone. I would mention that there are many areas with little to no cell service so keep that in mind when you’re on the road and might be wanting to book something for the next day. As for going in June, we went expecting terrible mosquitoes/black flies. It really wasnt near as bad as we expected ( not even as bad as here in Eastern Ontario…Tho there were some small blck flies with a nasty bite). You wont need to worry about raccoons, skunks or porcupines (there are none) and there are very few bears. Because of this many campgrounds have garbage cans right on the sites. And NL has no deer but they do have caribou and a huge moose population that requires extra vigilance when driving, especially at night or in fog/rain. And last tip, take good rain gear and clothes for cool temperatures. Hope this helps.

Another great episode! Looks like taking a larger rig to Fogo Island might prove difficult if that was the only campground?
@TrueNorthCamping

Thanks Simon. If I recall there was room for a few larger rigs but it wouldn’t be right in the first row.

How dog friendly was Fogo?
@TrueNorthCamping
@TrueNorthCamping 6 күн бұрын
As you probably noticed the campsites are very close together so at the campground Ranger was always on a leash…and hes always quiet, even if left alone. We did let him off leash in other areas where we were basically alone and no one seemed to have any issues. As long as you’re a responsible and considerate dog owner I think you’ll find all of Nfld is pretty dog friendly.
