Great idea for lock doors keeps the speed more realistic too.

Yes, thank you. I plan this summer to make a video of the build of four new actuators for this system and use a larger motor.

can you tell about the torque dc motor? why small dc motor can move that part?
@RVJimD4 жыл бұрын
The small motor is geared down, so the motor turns very fast, but the output turns slow giving great torque and can easily move the door.
@mrdillmale16334 жыл бұрын
Dear Jim, Could you please tell me what type of metal holder are you using for linear actuator to hold. I am looking forward to hearing from you, Your faithfully, From Dill Doe

The motor fits into aluminum channel.

This a gearbox motor,I do not recall the exact ratio, but the motor is quite small and the gearbox might be 1000 to 1 ratio. Thanks for watching and thanks for the question.

That is a piece of aluminum I drilled each end to fit the two different shaft sizes and drilled and taped for set screws.

Jim, if you build one of these that will reliably run rc airplane retracts you will have made an improvement on the ones sold now ;)
@RVJimD8 жыл бұрын
Possibly, be fun to try. Do you have an elec retract I can look at?
@FlyingRob18 жыл бұрын
You can buy such electric motors (=actuators) for example used in retracts since a long time, it´s not new.
@foodstick8 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob, I was actually joking with him because several of my friends and I have bought electric retracts for bigger models, and have ended up going back to air.. They still have some issues with the bigger sized electric retracts. Hopefully someday they will work flawlessly (until you land hard) and tweak them ;)

@RVJimD6 жыл бұрын
Electra Dynamo, the motor is probably the weak link. This first attempt uses a micro gear motor with very small gears in the reduction which probably would not allow too much stress. This application is horizontal and I'm not sure what the force measurement is.

What's the model of the motor you use? Does it have an encoder?
@RVJimD7 жыл бұрын

Vishal Gaurav, here is a Amazon link Delrin Rod, Black, 1/4" Diameter www.amazon.com/dp/B00EJNSPVA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_8k7kBb9K7NCMX Im not exactly sure I used 1/4" and my plan is to recreate this for all four gates using 3/8"

RVJimD can you please provide Ali Express link ? I live in India. Also are they having threads internally ?
@RVJimD6 жыл бұрын
Vishal Gaurav, this rod is solid. I drilled and added internal threads using a tap to match the thread pitch of the steel threaded rod. I don't use all xpres, you should be able to find it using delrin or acetal rod.

@RVJimD6 жыл бұрын
Ya, this was my first prototype. What I learned from this was that using delrin with the taped hole in the first 1/2" and clearance for the remainder works very well. This is the same design style I used on my Tonka dump truck which works very well. I also added a down limit switch to the dump truck. Thanks for the comment! Jim

Why are you so triggered? It's just a simple demonstration with some not great camera work. Did you expect him to somehow fit a whole lecture into 1 minute and 17 seconds? Also, it's an extremely simple device. Detail is not necessary if your iq is above room temperature. Regarding the camera work, it's not the best, but it isn't exactly indecipherable. Again, it's such a simple device that only a few seconds are needed to understand it. IMHO, don't click on very short videos if you want thorough explanations, lower your stupid lousy standards, and work on your comprehension skills.
