When we got the Houghton installed, we ran the loud ac unit during the night. It helped drown out the trains. They are crazy! We love our Houghton and any time anyone mentions how loud their Ac is, we recommend Advanced RV and the Houghton. They took good care of us and our dogs while we waited.

The trains are definitely moving all night! LOL.

Are you saying that the Houghton AV unit was loud enough to drown out the sound of trains, or your old AC unit was loud?
@marthamanigross Жыл бұрын
@@jerrysegalla8597 we stayed overnight the night before the install of the Houghton. The old AC was so loud it drowned the trains. Luckily after the install, we didn’t have to stay the next night.

Mike and Jennifer, Great video on the Houghton AC and install by Advanced RV. We are full-timers in a Class C motorhome and had the Houghton AC installed about two years ago to reduce the loud noise from our existing AC, which made sleeping and even conversing in the motorhome difficult. The Houghton has performed flawlessly, and in addition to being very, very quiet, it is efficient using about 950 watts, has a built-in soft start, and the remote is handy to change the temperature at night without having to get up. Cleaning the filter is a breeze! The team Advanced RV did a great job on our install, and Mitchell was a true professional. Keep up the excellent work!

Hi how many btu is your new ac?
@larryvolenec9851 Жыл бұрын
The Houghton AC, since it is Australian, is rated in watts not BTUs. The AC was custom ordered by Advanced RV which removed the heating option and might have also altered the cooling capacity. The model on the housing is the Houghton Belaire 3400. Converting the 3400 watts to BTUs yields approximately 12,000 BTUs. Hope this helps! @@arriagada1957

RECPRO sell these - just installed a 13.5 on our Pop up and will be installing a 13.5 on our 1975 GMC and it comes with a heat pump built in. Just fine for 26' motorhome. The Houghton units are far less expensive from RecPro.

Great video, thank you. Two questions... 1) Does the fan on the Houghton run 100% of time when unit is powered on? Or, does it cycle on/off with compressor when calling for cool? 2) Have you had any issues with humidity/performance running the Houghton, even in southern/humid climates? Thank you.

$3500 seems like a lot of money to replace a perfectly good AC with a quieter unit. Are the BTU's equivalent? From what I can tell Hougton AC's come from Australia which I am sure is fine but I wonder how the parts and service situation is for them in the U.S.? Had this been available as an upgrade from LTV I wonder what the price adder would be? I wonder why LTV doesn't offer the Hougton AC as an option? A quieter AC is better although for people like me when it comes to sleeping I like the white sound the AC gives off. I cannot sleep if it is dead silent so I would not want it to be too quiet.

What do you set the temperature on your remote at startup? We recently had a Houghton installed on out Class B van, The compressor stays on in cool mode for only 90 seconds regardless of temp settings, fan speed, etc. Also, we have discovered that the dehumidifier does not work either. Is temperature setting on the remote critical? I've set it at just below room temp to all the way down to 70 and very little cold air ejects during the 90 second compressor cycle. At this point, we would choose a really noisy Coleman Mach just to stay cool. Our van is like a sweat box! Love your channel. Thanks.

Houghton's are nice and quiet, but not as quiet as my mini-split on the toy hauler. Not to mention (heck, I just did) price. $735 and I installed it myself. Of course, it would be very difficult to impossible to install in a van conversion.

Thank you for your video on the Quiet AC. I called Advanced RV today and asked them if they could install one in my 2020 Regency UltraBrougham B+ on a sprinter chassis. I also asked if it would work with my existing EC30 Auto GenStart. The person that I talked to did not know, in fact he had never heard of it and he would ask the tech then email me back with an answer. I received an answer via email the same day stating "I got the information you wanted. Unfortunately, we will be unable to do an A/C swap on your Sprinter. We're only doing simple A/C swaps at this time. If you find a dealer around you that would be willing to do it, I'd be happy to ship it to them. The price is ~2800 with shipping and you can pick between a white or black one". I am wondering what would make mine different than the average LTV?
