As an Industrial Security Specialist, I have been using push button entries for years. It’s amazing how many people DON’T change the key code. Anytime I walk up to a pushbutton lock or a high security safe, the first thing I do is put in 1,2,3,4,5 and 50-25-50. It’s amazing how many doors and drawers I’ve opened with just those.

Last spring, after buying all of the stuff we needed for our new MiniLite, I decided to hold off for a while on buying one of these keypads since it's just an optional upgrade. Well, in June it went on sale for Amazon Prime Day so I got one. So glad I did, we love it.

My rv lock has starting locking on itself without us touching the lock button. Is this a sign the batteries need to be replaced or something else?

I think it may be a failed control board? Contact RV Lock directly and talk with them, they will help diagnose the problem with you over the phone and hopefully replace the part at no cost to you (you may only need to pay shipping if its out of the warrantee period) Monday - Friday 8:00am - 3:00pm MST 888-316-9899. Hello Ron, I did not need to use silicone around the lock since I had a good seal but if I didn't have a good seal I would have put silicone around the lock. I recommend that if you have any worries it may be able to leak someday to silicone around it because it will not hurt to do so. Thanks so much for watching and your great question

When I leave for the day, I always just lock the deadbolt- but this lock only locks the reg lock - not the deadbolt. So I would have to manually lock the deadbolt?

Here's what I found on their website to answer your question, I hope this helps - The two sets of ‘Lock’ and ‘Unlock’ buttons on your RVLock FOB can be customized. For example, say you have two doors on your fifth wheel and both have an RVLock keyless system installed. For convenience you could program one remote to work all RVLock handles at once with the click of a button. Alternatively, you may not always want to unlock the rear door when you are unlocking the main door. In this case, you could sync the front door to the orange set of buttons on the fob and then sync the front AND rear door to the black button set. Of course, the choice of customizing what button unlocks what is completely up to your preference. My latest theory is that I will simply plug up the extra key hole with glue if necessary. In other words, these locks can be picked, and also they are not keyless: no comedy necessary. Thieves are out there and know how to break in. That's typically why these products are purchased. Because the original locks will not even keep the honest people out. Update! Again great video but the product is a piece of crap! Ours is either missing parts on the locking mechanism or its just broke internally. When locking, you can hear it working but all that happens is a black gear just spins. Its going back!

@@thetraveltrailerguy Update...We contacted the company and they had a couple issues lately and one is (and what our problem was) is when you take off the silver metal backing on the key pad, there is a silver bar and it should be bent on both ends to a perfect 90 degrees and ours was over bent. Being bent more than 90 on both ends doesnt allow that bar to sit in the connection all the way. We just bent each end to 90 degrees and now everything works fine. Their other issue is they said sometimes the worm gear isn't seated all the way. Bothe are easy fixes but for what these cost, it should have been a 10 minute install with no issues.
