Country Coach are fantastic pushers. This unit will be on the road for many, many more years. For others looking at older coaches, don't be discouraged or run away because of old fabrics or terrible colors. As see here, the previous owner took on some updating. This can be as simple as primer and paint, new hardware, light fixtures, and new carpet. Most of the fabric is stapled on to the wood valences and surrounds. If you're not comfortable changing the fabric you can actually paint it. Just be sure to vacuum and clean all the dust off. Most of the mirrors are glued on the doors. Behind the mirrors will be the same beautiful cabinet doors found in the rest of the coach. With today's peel and stick everything you can find: real stone backsplash and accent wall tiles - peel and stick real wood planks for accent walls, headboards, fireplace surround, covering Formica shelves, creating wainscoting, etc,etc..These peel and stick real wood planks are not for use as flooring - peel and stick vinyl flooring in dozens of patterns styles and colors - and hundreds of peel and stick wall paper choices with more every day. Glass cabinet, shower doors, and mirrors can be updated with window films to create a whole new look. New faux wood blinds can be cut in-store at most home improvement big box stores. Remodeling or updating an older coach is now extremely simply and cost effective. No special tools or skills are needed. All you need is a little imagination and time to create your own home to go. Updating older coaches with a great exterior and running gear is so simple and cost effective some have turned flipping these unwanted coaches. Like Marc said, a diesel pusher is good for a few hundred to a million miles. And yes, an older coach with low miles can be an issue. As always, have any RV you're seriously considering inspected. Find you own inspector. Don't listen to the seller when they say they have a "great guy who'll give you a great price". If something happened a day into owning the new-to-you coach after his guy raised no concerns you'll kick yourself for not having it inspected at a shop you choose. Prices for an inspection range depending on how deep into the RV you want him or her to inspect. However a couple hundred bucks to point out the engine is about to go is a lot better than having to shell out $10k for a rebuilt engine a month or two later. Get out there and find an RV to suit your needs. So long as the exterior doesn't require paint (big bucks to paint an RV -$8k-$35k), no water leaking or rot, the mechanical check out, and the chassis and engine all have a clean bill of health, buy it. If you don't have the budget for an interior refit, start shopping for peel and stick everything for a fun, easy and affordable facelift to suit your individual style. Have fun! Cheers from Seattle!

Vintage high end coaches were built with quality in mind. We have a '98 Monaco, very similar to Country Coach in the same era. These older models don't have the bling, or problems with newer coaches. Perfect for making it yours without braking the bank.

Guys, we started with a Tiffin gas coach and changed this year to a 40 ft diesel. You are gonna love the ease of refueling at truck stops and the smooth quieter drive! Cant wait to see your interior changes. Congrats!!
@Rvlove
@Rvlove 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Very similar path. Yes.. love how much easier it is to fill at truck stops now that we can fill with diesel. Love the improved fuel economy and range too. We used to go 500 miles on a tank of fuel. Now we can go nearly 900 miles.

We absolutely love our Country Coach. You just can't beat the quality that went into these coaches. Ours is a 2006 and the wood cabinets still look as good as new. . No plastic anything in these RV's. The diesel engine and transmission make going up and down in the mountains so easy. Can't wait to see what you do with the inside by making it "your own". Maybe will give us some ideas as well. That is the fun of it, right?

We bought a 1994 Country Coach Magna two years ago and agree that the quality of the cabinets is awesome along with most everything in it. we knew nothing about CC when we bought it but have learned since how great a build they are. We are only weekend campers at the moment but plan to go full time in the next year hopefully. Great find for you! I also just ordered your book yesterday and cannot wait to get it. Love your videos, enjoy CC!!! maybe we will meet you on the road someday.

An oldie but a goodie. Such a simple way to prevent kitchen drawers from opening underway. Give me those, over those self-closing ones that never stay closed anyway. Tastefully conservative which will make it easier to update too. Looking forward to all of the upgrades and refurbishing videos. If you upgrade the backup camera, black and white models of old are actually better at displaying detail than the newer colour ones. Just change the monitor at the dash. Marc, if Julie starts to think that thinks she needs to upgrade you, just tell her that like your cummins diesel you are just broken in, with many more miles of enjoyment to be had.

It’s beautiful! With the “blank slate” you’ll be able to make it your own easily. Pre emissions is a great feature & with only 175K miles, doesn’t seem the engine would be worn out. I think it is beautiful. I love the white cabinets and walls. It makes it look so spacious and clean as well as light and bright inside, not dark and depressing. I think when you move in and put in your toss pillows and your other belongings, it will look more like you are used to. I love the furniture. It is looks nice and comfortable and the chair may be a recliner because it has a handle on the side like recliners have. I am so happy for you. This makes me think that an older one that is cheaper, but in good condition and still reasonable when you put on all of the things that you are going to and with your new tires and fresh fluids, it will be like brand new when you get done but a lot cheaper than a brand new one. Wishing you the best of luck with it and much happiness travelling in it.

Congratulations! We bought a 1991 Champion Ultrastar 28' twin bed (no slides, sleeps 6 or more accurately 2 adults and 4 kids). Acquired for an amazing price and we know both the previous owner and previous mechanic (his son) and a good friend of ours. Our 2nd time out we drove 2,500 miles from Washington to Texas. We lived full time for 9 months with 2 cats, 3 dogs, one a Great Dane. We are continuing to upgrade and modify as we go. Good luck on your continued journey with your new (to you) home. is that color wood stain common? I have not seen it before, only seen folks who pain the standard dark wood with white paint. These are Stained and it is in my opinion much more elegant than just slathering on white paint. I also like the huge counter space in the kitchen and large frig. She did not show the shower too much but it did also look large and had a real glass door. I think it has more storage space and much more kitchen counter space than many 45 footers I have seen. I wish I could find one because to me this seems ideal and affordable too. What do you think a comparable CC would go for? Does yours also have one slide?
@mackpeteno
@mackpeteno 6 жыл бұрын
The white cabinets has the grain showings very thin coat of paint.The shower is very large, with glass door.Ours has 80,000 miles.Not as clean as theirs.May be available later this year for about 35,000.We are only using it a couple months a year.Their coach is a good deal, very clean.

I can see about 20k in upgrades in your future with new airbags/hoses, ac's and and inverters/solar. Add that to your purchase price and you still have a better coach that you could buy new today for 3-4 times the money. I think you have hit the ball out of the park with this coach. The most fun you will have is making it "custom" fit for you. What an awesome blank canvas. So very happy for the both of you.

Congratulations on your new coach. Looks good. I have new to us too, a 1999 Foretravel U320 40 foot no slide and also love it. Lots of projects in the making, with new awnings, new flooring, new fabrics, reupholstering the jackknife sofa and chairs, new backup cam and side cam, new stereo system, etc. Bought ours due to the 1500 watts of solar and the 600 amp hours of victron lithium batteries the PO put in, plus all new basement, new windows, new shades... amazing how much moving parts there are in one of these. See you on the road.

Congratulations! Wise decision to purchase a quality used diesel pusher. When we went full time in 2000, we purchased a '97 U320 Foretravel with no slides and absolutely loved that coach. The one thing we had were the panagraphic doors, so no hitting your head while retrieving stuff from the storage areas. We had 2 huge joey beds as well. Country Coach and Foretravel were pretty close to each other as far as amenities go! They were both well ahead of their time and still on the road today with huge carrying capacities. Oh, we had the 450 M-11 Cummins in ours. Great decision to buy used. I would not be afraid of the miles or condition of this rig! Well done indeed!

Thank you for the compliments. Agreed.. Country Coach and Foretravel of that era are both excellent coaches. We met a couple who had purchased a Foretravel of that era new and had over 450,000 miles on it, and still loved it.

Congratulations! Welcome to The Big Boy's Club! You have definitely found one of the best made coaches ever built! A Country Coach would have been my second choice after my Beaver! Mark and Julie, That's a diesel generator that you have now! unlike what your use to with your gas generator, It wants to run! Don't be afraid to let it run all day. With your gas genny, you have to be a little conservative on their use. They tend to want regular maintenance and repair. With a diesel- it's like a stallion! it will just run flawlessly for hours! Don't worry about the length of time it's been running! And maintenance is fairly easy. mostly you will want to replace the coolant at first, maybe check the fan belt, maybe check and replace the fuel filter, and then the basic oil change. just take it in for service for an evaluation. I know a place in Phoenix if you wanted to take it in. I'm not pushing them, I just take my work trucks to them. And a quick tip: Hours are hard to understand. People talk in mileage. When someone says it's got 87,000 miles on it, people know immediately what that means. But when you say it's got 1200 hours on it, eeehhh that means what? I don't know how many hours you have on that generator; But. If you take the amount of hours you have and multiply it by say: 60, you will get an approximate Idea of the amount of MILES that engine has on it! It's a trick I learned from my Generator Service Tech here in Phoenix who services the Generators on my fleet of News Trucks I use to manage! The 60 is roughly a good measurement of drive time. basically you drive 60MPH so your converting hour H to M. and that makes it so much easier to understand how much wear the generator has on it! I Emailed you Julie about a year ago about "DreamFinders RV" using your images and a made up story to promote themselves. Since then I have found my 2000 Beaver here in Mesa and we love it! Like your "CeeCee", our Beaver was completely original and everything was in showroom quality. not a scratch or rip anywhere! I think it is a good idea you have to live in "CeeCee" for a while, wait a bit and let your magic bubble up and form a colorful plan that would make the interior uniquely yours! Are you guys still in Phoenix? We would love to meet up and say hello!

RVLove | Marc & Julie Bennett I do Not! I'm sorry. I've spent an overwhelming majority of my time in Arizona. We still have a stix n' bricks we live in additionally of our coach. No plans to sell it anytime soon. We will be tehered here in Phoenix for the forseeable future with our jobs as I now try to wrap my head around workcamping and going mobile. I do know of your online classes and may soon be browsing your expertise, but we would be talking about a major career change, so lots to consider. Thanks, following your tour I found that both coaches are very much alike. Ours is the "cooks delight" model and has a different galley arrangement. We also have solid oak cabinets throughout and the wood joinery is one of the things that sold me on this coach. I replaced the bathroom Maxxair vent yesterday and will finish the Dicor sealing today. We're in the process of remodeling our home for sale and reconditioning our coach at the same time. You are smart to live in it for a bit before doing many upgrades and as you said it is fine just as it is and you can personalize it as you go. Best Wishes

You two are so cute! So smart to buy one with the depreciation already done! Our 5th motorhome is brand new and ... ugh. So so so many things to repair and what a headache it has been, because we made the mistake of purchasing from a dealership far away from home, and then had to work so much to get dealerships to help with warranty work! So buying used is definitely better! Enjoy, enjoy!
@Rvlove

Thank you for sharing your comment. Sorry to hear that you have had so many challenges. Yes, new RVs often have more bugs to work out than pre-owned ones, and not being near the dealership you bought it at reduces the priority for getting service done. Hope you get it all sorted out soon and enjoy it more.

Wow... with everybody these days downsizing you guys actually sized up! I could never understand two people giving up a medium size coach to go live in a van. Start with a van .... sure.... but to live in one for years. .. not my cup of tea. You guys have it right. An older, quality coach you probably now own outright that you can make into whatever you like and with the room to not be constantly tripping over each other. What a find - what potential - I can hardly wait to see all the renos you do. Super congrats.

I'd never drive a monster like that and tow a vehicle behind it to boot. I'll take a camper van any day, but I like to travel and keep moving. Just the gas mileage alone and I'm way ahead. Of course, I'm a minimalist and don't need all the material things to be happy. Just a tiny house and my class B van. The less to maintain, the better!

In my comment, when you asked us to guess, wad that you were getting a diesel pusher. This sort of coach is exactly what I had in mind. I love natural wood where I can see the grain patterns. All that white paint hurts my sense of wood aesthetics, but some people prefer it. I guess it is a good thing that all of us don’t think alike. All of those mirrors make it feel brighter and more spacious. Don’t paint the mirrors! Congratulations! Enjoy! If the water pump quits, make sure you are already in the service bay when it happens, right?
@Rvlove
@Rvlove 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you. good guess. Yep.. we appreciate quality wood, but do love this white coach. the nicest wood work we have seen is on older Beaver coaches. Yep that was funny when the Tiffin water pump failed in the service bay. Fortunately.. if this one fails it is much more easily accessible to fix on my own.

Congratulations-Diesel coach’s are great-the ride is so smooth. We recently put new tires on our 39’ Excursion and a big part of such a smooth ride was checking the weight. Checking the front & total to determine the rear weight. Then adjusting the tire pressure in the coach. Huge difference in ride. The tire places usually fill up to 105 to 110 tire pressure way to much depending on weight. 🎉💕🎉
@Rvlove
@Rvlove 6 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Ride quality is significantly impacted by matching the tire pressure to the weight on the axle. We put this on a scale before driving it home and then again once loaded to make sure we have it dialed in. Thanks for sharing this tip for everyone.

I bought a 1999 Country Coach Intrigue last year. Country Coach sure knew how to build motorhomes back in the day. My floor plan is quite different but love having access to everything even when the slide is in. Mine was converted to golf cart batteries prior to purchase, they seem to do a nice job. I'll be installing a small (2 panel) solar array at some point. My coach has a sofa (drive side) and J-lounge (curb side), thinking of taking one out and turning the space into an office. And yes, it is a real hoot to drive.

Great find! We were especially excited since we bought a 1998 Intrigue last November in preparation for retirement in 2020. We figure it will take that long to get it the way we want it, plus saving up for each big upgrade (solar). The coaches are almost identical minus your large fridge, the neutral carpet and the white cabinets. I wanted to paint ours but my husband stroked out because it's such nice wood. I do plan to paint the walls and we removed the valences/blinds. I have a plan for curtains. We're planning to reupholster the UGLY sofa and have our driver & passenger chairs re-foamed as they are pretty tired looking although the leather is in pretty good shape. Our carpet is lime green (and smelly!) and we are in the process of pulling all of that out. Trying to decide what to put down to replace it. Everything in ours was gold so you're a leg up on us there. The previous owner must have already replaced yours. We have replaced ours, but I like yours better! We have also replaced all the knobs and pulls. Bought a pretty shower curtain to cover up the gold door! We may replace or paint it but we haven't decided. We also have all the mirrors you have and I want to get rid of that since I would be scaring myself all the time! I have some ideas but we haven't gotten that far yet. Ours is missing the recliner so if you decide to get rid of yours we'd seriously be interested in purchasing it. We know for sure it would fit through the door! I want a white or gray one but am having trouble finding the style, size and color I want. Keep us up on what your plans are. I will be anxious to see what you do with it. Your last coach was decorated so nicely! No pressure! Ha!
