I love watching your videos, you guys do some awesome work, very detail orientated. I got a quote from you, but the camper was not worth the investment. I got a Mexican guy who works for a commercial roof company to help me while he was out of work. He had a 35' roll of Fibertite 50 mil, I showed him a couple of your videos and we installed the new roof similar to your method, and it turned out great. We had to remove front panels to rebuild all structural wood, it was a major Job. The quote you gave me is a good price, I know this now after doing it myself. Thanks for all the education.

Even though it's been pointed out that this isn't owned by Jayco. Jayco isn't much better as far as work quality is concerned. We have a 2020 Jayco travel trailer that the temp plate isn't even expired on and I've discovered several issues with the roof. Big air bubbles and areas that have sharp edges pressing outward from under the membrane. I'm going to bring it back for the dealer to look at, but planning on not getting anywhere.

The campers are all the same. Not one better than the other. Take the decals off if them and you wouldn't tell them apart. If your camper has Dicor roofing...use Carlisle lap sealant. Carlisle makes Dicor. What size camper are you looking for. I have a customer selling an 18ft. New roof...it's a 2015. Great shape. Older man owns it and addded some features. We'll extend the warranty for 10 more years.

I've been preparing to re-seal our corner seams, all exterior penetrations and the roof on our 2015 travel trailer when I came across your channel and subscribed! Question, what "caulk" do you use for the vertical wall surfaces and on the horizontal roof surfaces? Also, I've heard you mention applying "primer" before caulking on roof seams. Which primer are you referring to? Fantastic channel, thanks!

@Andrew-fr3bp
@Andrew-fr3bp 2 жыл бұрын
@@peturredbird5178 , after a lot of research I re-sealed all four corner seams and it came out great. . I first removed the aluminum corner strip saving the screws and scraping away all the old sealant. I then used Dicor "Seal-Tite" Corner Seal 1.5"x50ft tape to seal the side edges together. Next I used mineral spirits to clean the aluminum corner strip and applied 2 beads of "CRL 777 Butyl Rubber Sealant" with a caulk gun, making a circle around each screw hole. Next I attached the corner strip back onto the camper and screwed it back in place. Be sure to have some extra screws that are slightly thicker and longer, in case some of the holes get stripped and you need a thicker screw. If any of the butyl sealant gets squished out, wipe it off the fiberglass w/ mineral spirits. As an added layer of defense against water intrusion, I used a caulk gun to apply a thin bead of "Sikaflex 221 Polyurethane Sealant" along both edges of the aluminum corner strip and the fiberglass wall. The hardest part of it all was where the corner trim goes up onto and terminates at the roof. I had to carefully remove all the old Dicor Lap Sealant and clean the roof. To ensure a waterproof seal at the roof, I used Eternabond Tape over the horizontal part of the corner trim on the roof, then used "Henry Tropi-Cool 885 Seam Sealer" over it. The final step was using regular "Henry 887 Tropi-Cool Roof Sealer". These 2 products are safe fon EPDM RVroofs. I also used it along the front and rear facing roof edges and around all the penetrations. This fall I'll apply a coat of the Henry 887 over the entire roof. Good luck with your RV roof !!

To remove the caulk would be some work. You could slice it but once the roof surface is primed...it's stuck like chuck! The numbers 35 and 50 relate to the percentage of flexibility. 35 less flexible than 50. Thanks for watching!

Looking at your AC curbs, is there any reason why you can't build the curb to support the whole unit instead of using the 2 little supports?
@RVROOFINSTALL
@RVROOFINSTALL 4 жыл бұрын
Not necessary. More material, also the stands are designed to balance the rear portion of the AC. That's where the fan is. The fan needs to be centered in the shroud and the stands allow us to make the adjustments. A full curb may follow a roof line that isn't true. Thanks for watching!

@@RVROOFINSTALL kind of makes sense...I'm always looking at improving my rig. I've said the same things you have for years to anybody who listens and wants an rv. Its funny, all my friends and people who I've talked to always come back to me for advice on repair and sealing...I absolutely hate dicor myself. It might make a temporary seal in an emergency but I always recommend removing it entirely and resealing with a better option.
