Good info, whenever we were gate guarding in years past, they really only had a 12 hour in a kiosk you drove to from a campground and the 24 hour gate where you stayed on site. Interesting changes.

Finally, (thanks to your video), I have convinced my wife that this is something that we should look into for sure. We only knew about the 24 hour/7 day a week site. We are like you in that we want to work side by side. We don't have a pet so that won't be a problem. How much does the 12 hr. team shack pay compared to the 24 hr/7 day a week site? I heard the 24 hr. /7day a week site pays $175 a day. Do all the gate guarding companies do the 5 different types of gates? Lots of questions I know, but your videos are most helpful! Thanks!

Also, what is the difference between a Frac and a Loadout site?

12 hr team shack that we were on pays $220. Most companies have all types of gates
@GrassRootsLiving5 жыл бұрын
What percent of the gates that are available to newbies are 12 hr. Team shacks? We are wondering if it is a very small percent, becuase most gates are 24/7 sites.

Now I'm a single father of 2 pre teens. Pretty reliable and mature. looking to work room the rv 12 hr shifts with a relief 12 hr shift . Where did you look to find the jobs available? I tried indeed but I didn't find anything.
@roydavis22425 жыл бұрын
Very informative. Be aware, when you figure out there are 2 of you working 12 hrs shifts 7 days a week, the money isn't all that great. They get around the laws the requiring overtime pay (time &1/2) for anything over a 40 hr week by hiring you as independent contractors. Yes, you get free camping, but just how much is that worth?
@NoAcresHomestead5 жыл бұрын
Well for us we like the 24/7 because it ties our hands and keeps us from going out and spending money. You are right in saying that the pay is not great but not being able to spend it we actually save more money working here than we do when we work a good paying job.

how much is the pay for this type of 12 hr team gate vs like the RV at you hear so much about. thanks
@NoAcresHomestead5 жыл бұрын
+Carl Newton Great question. This gate pays more than most RV gates. This particular gate was $220/day for the couple. Most RV gates run about $150-$175/Day for the couple. We actually have moved on to an RV gate. The extra pay isn’t worth it to us to be away from our four leggged baby for 12-13 hours a day. We like being in the comfort of our home better.

Question. Was the 12 hour gate guard job a 7 day a week job?
@billharris70575 жыл бұрын
Nice video awesome info but can you chose 12hrs if so what company are you going thru?
@NoAcresHomestead5 жыл бұрын
+Bill Harris Some companies do have 12-hour gates where you work from your RV, although there aren’t many of them. I’m not sure if the company we work for (J&G) has any. If you work in a shack, that is a 12-hour shift. All companies have some of these gates.

We are planning on gate guarding this year. Are there positions that are 12 hour, couples on same shift and you can park your rv on site?
@NoAcresHomestead5 жыл бұрын
They do have 12 hour gates for RVs but they are rare. The best thing to do is let the company know that is the type of gate you are looking for and get on a wait list for one. But be ready because when they get one you will only have about 24 to 48 hours to arrive onsite.

+We are free to roam Welcome to the team...so glad to have you join us!! We have a playlist about guarding, and one of the videos actually takes you step-by-step on the process of getting licensed. We don’t like to talk bad about any companies, but we can tell you who we like. We have been with 3 companies, and our favorite is by far J&G Security. The step-by-step video has info in the description for most of the Guard companies. We hope to see y’all down the road, and feel free to contact us if the playlist still leaves you with questions. The fastest way to hear back from us is by messaging us on our RV SWAT Facebook page. Tracy checks that several times daily! 👍

Please tell the horrible life of a gate guard. You have to live in an RV...usually with no way to do laundry or take a relaxing bath. The water tanks run out of water quickly, so you have to take quick showers or none at all. Also, depending on what gate you work, you may or may not get a lunch break or even a bathroom break. Also, if you break down the pay, you make less than a Mcdonald's starting employee. Which starts at $15 an hour. And even less than a Doordasher...which averages $20 an hour and is a much easier job. These people that are paid to promote Gate Guarding always say "Yeah, but we don't work all the time of our our shift". That doesn't matter. You are still captive in that small shack for however long you are paid for. They are not free to do what they want. And all for $13 an hour.
