My mother was born in Scottsbluff in 1919. Growing up, she and her sisters walked from Scottsbluff to Scott's Bluff Monument often. That was about a 5 mile walk just to get there. I have walked up the Trail many times Thanks for the video

I grew up in Nebraska, my history teacher father took us on car-camping tours every summer. He impressed upon us the strength and tenacity of the pioneers. Our heritage! He use to joke about the reason for the Oregon trail was the midwest winters. BTW, I now live in Oregon. Lol.

Great video! Wife and I watched it last week from our home in Wisconsin. We were so impressed and inspired with the video we hooked up our trailer and headed west. We arrived at Robidoux RV park yesterday and did the Scott’s Bluff hike today. The hike was amazing and so is the SB NM visitor center. We also hiked the wagon train trail. It was so cool to be standing in the very spot that the wagon trains and pony express came through. Thanks so much for making the video on it! You two do great and interesting work! PS - according to information in the visitor center, the Civil Works Administration (CWA) did the tunnel work prior to the formation of the CCC. Happy trails:)

Again I enjoy seeing what other people think of my hometown, Gering. I hike the Saddle Rock Trail frequently and I still enjoy it. Fun fact, the three tunnels on the summit road are the only highway tunnels in Nebraska. When I was a cadet at the Nebraska Police Academy in Grand Island the traffic law instructor covered the laws for driving through tunnels and then he remarked that he did not know why we had those since there were no tunnels in Nebraska. I had to educate him that there were tunnels in Nebraska. If it is a clear day you can see the Rocky Mountains from the summit of Scotts Bluff, Laramie Peak in Wyoming @10,000 feet is very prominent on the horizon but it has to be a clear day as the peak is about 120 miles away.

Spectacular views! Due to my husband’s mobility issues, when we travel we mostly see locations from behind the windshield. Sometimes I can break off and see a little on my own, but rarely. Thank you for including this wonderful hike and all the info along with it.. super cool. Nebraska is certainly underrated!
