Perfect. This is what eye am talkin' about !! It's not a coincidence that Jackery sold out of this unit the first day of it's release. Fantastic people at this company who get it. Gonna have a Goal Zero Yeti 3000 to power everything in my Promaster Van using 2 massively powerful 450- watt solar panels on the roof of my Van. 900 hundred watts of charging on just 2 solar panels to keep that Yeti charged and ready at all times, and with this Jackery 1000 it's a fantastic little backup to have. Love the portability to take in a tent , or for camping, or out of the Van for any reason to power anything ( get togethers, cooking,, bonfires, picnics, ceremonies, amd of course to play loud music on my portable speaker system, you name it :-) The Jackery is perfect to keep charged while driving using the cigarette lighter. With the solar panels to power the Yeti 3000. Do not want the noise of gas generators anywhere around me with it's toxic fumes and high maintenance with need of oil mechanics, on top of gas and all the needless engine maintenance ans repairs. Messy. Eye am all abour clean natural power and do not care about cost. The sooner gas generators are eliminated and replaced with natural solar power, the better for all of us. Love this Jackery 1000 and it is a perfect little backup. Had plans for the Ego Powerstation as a backup electric emergency system but was shocked at their poor customer service. No answers in months. Have not responded to my solar questions and you cannot charge a Powerstation while using it. With Jackery it can be done, it can be used while it's charging, it just has more versaility and compatability. And better quality materials with good customer service. Love this company, they are more than.worth my $1000.

I have one and I found a really interesting use. At first I didn’t like the big handle because it makes it less compact. However, I realize it actually makes a good dumbbell. I use 25 pound ones at home and the jackery is reasonably close to that weight. So on the road my battery is what I use for curls. You can also hold on and do some squats or step ups.

I made a simple DIY system using two 100 watt solar panels, charge controller, inverter, 100AH lithium battery, fuses and cables. My inverter is 2000 watts/4000 surge which is double the Jackery 1000. Unless you are interested in building yourself and learning I would say go Jackery for the ease of use. Bummer it takes so long to charge as my DIY is 100% charged in less than 4 hours of direct sunlight but takes up more space and is not able to grab and go. Price points are basically the same when you include the solar panels from Jackery. Pros and cons. Thank you Tito.

I'm one of your budget minded viewers and made one of those solar generators for less than $200. That Jackery explorer sells for $999. I used a large Camco battery box ($13), cut a hole for an all in one panel with dual USB port, cigarette socket , and voltmeter ($14 ) , 12 volt deep cycle AGM battery ($100), PMW charge controller ($10), 400 watt modified sine wave inverter ($39). You can get a windy nation 100 watt glass rigid panel that weighs only 16 lbs for $75 with free shipping. There is almost nothing that pricey jackery can do that my box won't. Lithium batteries of course are much lighter than lead acid batteries granted. It runs my 12 volt compressor refrigerator and charges anything via the USB ports. The AC inverter is nice for small appliances that need 110 volts. Most of these parts are from eBay, battery and case from Walmart. The box is not much bigger than your jackery but weighs a lot more (45 lbs vs 22 lbs). Sorry I had to weigh in when I see such an expensive item that was pretty easy to make yourself. The box can be modified if you need a full sine wave 1000 watt inverter and an optional watt meter can be installed if you need to see your power draw.

Because of COVID, I'm working from home. I rely on internet and having power for my laptop and phone. We had a very bad storm just yesterday (Friday 06/17/20) that knocked out our power for the entire day... couldn't work at all. Great review and I was considering one but you can get an EGO Powerstation with 2 batteries for the same price. With just the 2 batteries you can get 2000 running and 3000 peak watts. Of course you can add batteries. 5 year warranty on the tool and 3 years on battery also. JS

I hard wired a 1500 watts inverter to my cars battery I then use the ac charger..I get about 180-200 watts I did have to buy a special tube fuse and very thick + and neg cables though... (charges much faster this way but it did cost about $400 in parts) using just the normal DC socket on the car I only got a max of 30-80 watts.

With the Hobotech Code, the Jackery was only $799, then with the two Renogy 100 watt panels, a parallel cable, and MC4 to Anderson cable it was a total of $1,000.

That thing is state of the art and must cost a bomb. It's almost certainly Lithium Batteries in series and in parallel to get 24VDC input at around 6amps (your maths was wrong or the wattage was wrong. Not 10amps) and 13.6VDC output using an SOTA MMPT controller. Plus a pure sine wave inverter plus a multistage LIPO4 charger plus constant output regulated supply. That tech is expensive let alone in one unit. I would be hard pressed to build that tech in separate quality brand pieces for under $1300

I’ve seen only one other solar generator that has a 30amp outlet and I’d really like the ability to plug the camper in and not use the “house” battery. Plus this would serve he as the brains of a portably solar system for RV’er that doesn’t really need the big system but wants to start in the “off grid” style of camping. A simple 30A to 110 adapter would work for your shore cable and could power light loads. When you say double 110, do you mean for a 50A plug?

Very useful review. A question though --- I see that you used the AC power on the Jackery to power your mini-fridge. Would it not be more efficient to power the fridge with DC on the Jackery. I read that there is a loss of 10-15% when you convert AC to DC.

Yes for DC. If I use an bigger gauge wire and connect one end to the main positive and negative of a 6 way fuse box & the other end I connect a male end plug to plug into an outlet. Connect all light switches and outlets to fuse box and plug in the power cord to 120v outlet on Jackery, would that work to power up everything. Thanks

I read in another review that this item is light weight, due to a battery that has less cycles than a Battleborn. This means its mobility is more important than its long term use.

Battleborn uses LiFePO4 batteries, this uses Lithium Ion which are lighter. It should still retain 80% capacity though even after it reaches its cycle max rating.

Hello, what can I use to power my 2005 29R 5th wheel Keystone Laredo RV? Right now I'm plugged into my parents power source through the garage. Just trying to find something to power my RV constantly even when I'm using my AC unit which shuts off because it's draining too much power from my parents. I like the size, the capacity, the MPPT input, the regulated DC plug and the 2,000 W spike on the invertor...but, honestly, I'm a little disappointed in charge rates. That's a heck of a long time to charge- any way tried? Can you attach solar AND AC (wall plug) at the same time to shorten the recycle time? As always, thank you for the great review- there are available discounts from HOBOTECH that make it more approachable. I agree, an MC-4 to Anderson Power pull adapter makes great sense, since most are MC-4 in the moving world of RV's, campers, etc... The two charge inputs cannot be used at the same time. The 8mm input takes priority and will turn off the Anderson input if something is connected to the 8mm input.

Can you please give an amazon link for the Induction hot plate you used. I'm seeing something similar on amazon rated at 1500W...which exceeds the 1000W max. I'm considering buying one of these (along with the solar panels) to take in my car for warming my lunch and enjoying eating in the car (as opposed to using a slowww HotLogic heated lunch boxes or trying to using a public microwave at the office which are often filthy). I have cuisinart electric gridler also rated at 1500W but believe it may be too much to power for Jackery Explorer 1000W and Explorer 500W. A few other Jackery 500/1000 reviews reviewing hotplate usage also but never shared the identity of the cooking devices. Quick heating is crucial as I have an hour and don't want to spend > 40 minutes trying to heat a lunch and certainly don't want to plug something in for 5hours to heat. I've also experimented with Kelly Kettle cooking to see if it could work and it boils water quickly. Also, alternatively, as cheaper option I thermoses that I prep to boil soup, potatoes, veggies, stews, chicken and fish that when boiled can hold food hot/warm for several hours but am curious to see if Jackery could support quick 10min heating of simple hot plates/dishes. I would get the Jackery 500 if I thought it would serve my quick portable cooking needs in addition to the other electrical power support it can support. I feel I already may know the answer but want to verify.

My question is could I use a 250 W solar panel, fixed to my roof, to keep the Jackery 1000 charged all the time? Or do I need to stick to two one hundred W panels. I don't have the 1000 yet but will be getting one in a few months, I have the 500 and enjoy charging smaller items but do want to have more power for other items.

Hi Brian, (Class A MH here), do you have any concerns when using the 12v "cig lighter" outlet on the dash to charge the Jackery while driving will do any harm to the alternator?...or that the Jackery might try to pull too many amps/watts thru the wiring of the "cig outlet"? I hope your new MH project is going well.

Should be fine, but check the fuse on that circuit. If it's too small, it may blow.

Asking because I am a 78-year-old woman who is seriously going to run away from my worthless family to live life in peace, for the remainder of it. @@stevek6921 yeah but there wouldn't be the huge cost of installation! 900 watt solar with all the stuff with 2000-3000 inverter and 600 Ah lit batteries is 18-25,000$ professionally installed. And that's if you can find someone to do the work.

The amp hour rating is misleading here because you don't know the battery voltage. Watt/hours are more descriptive. For instance, a Battleborn 100AH, 12 volt lithium-ion battery (only) is 1200 Watt/hours for about $900. The Jackery 1000 has 16.5% less battery capacity, but at $799, it's 11.2% less cost (than a Battleborn battery) but includes a 1000 Watt pure sine wave inverter, an MPPT solar charger, regulated 12 volt port, and various USB ports, all out together in a nice portable case.

A friend's jackery 290 was able to use my goal zero solar panels to charge the jackery 290 as the 8mm charging plug is same. Makes it easy to mix systems. Wonder if the jackery 1000 has the same size plug?

Yes. It's an 8mm coaxial connector. I found it impossible to find the connector by itself. It's available as part of an assembly though.

Hey Brian. What Do you think about using the unit to back feed power into an RV? I'm thinking that making a dead man plug and plugging it into a wall plug in the RV could power the tv and a cpap without having to reroute plugs. Obviously switching breakers off would be necessary to disconnect the onboard charging system of the RV.

They might be. I had to reverse the POS/NEG on the anderson powerpole connector to get it to work. It's easy to switch.

thanks for all your information. I have a question: I have an rv (class A, Thor Vegas) that when I plug in to shore charges my battery. I want to install an inverter OR inverter charger. why would I need an inverter charger when the the rv already charges the battery? wouldn't an inverter do what I need? why would I go with and inverter charger, not just an inverter? I have yet to find a good answer to my question. I hope you can educate me, thanks

You probably have a converter charger now which will charge on shore power. An inverter will provide AC power when not plugged in to shore power. An inverter/charger is a hybrid unit that combines the inverter and charging functions plus some smart switching between modes and power sources. If you had an inverter charger you would have to get rid of your converter charger.
