@@Juicar Not really, this stupid aura breaking mechanic is just sooooo annoying. Just from falling, Ruby's aura broke. Not just that, her aura broke TWICE in the same scene. And the final battle and Penny's D was just disappointing. They may have gotten better, but the writers are still all over the place. If only they could prioritize quality over quantity

Go watch V1 in the Japanese dub. Since all the English VA are still fresh in V1 watch it in Japanese dub makes it easier. And the subtitles help with the rougher animation of V1’s non fighting scenes.

Man, that scene of Roman fighting Blake and Sun was more hype than any fight scene in Volumes 4-7. I know Monty animated it, but there's no reason why the current animators can't learn from his style.

Beyond the fact that the rooster teeth studios are lazy and are inexperienced, You cannot replace someone's set style. Even if rooster teeth were producing high tier animated episodes it can't be the same as Monty's because he has a unique spin on it that no one else can replicate. Look at WIT compared to Mappa or ufotable compared to madhouse, they're all best of the best anime studios yet there's a clear difference in what they have. While they could have learned something they'll never replace it

In the RWBY VS Nevermore, Weiss was really the one who did the most things. She froze the tail, helped Ruby reach the Nevermore and even assisted her in reaching the top to behead the Nevermore. She's a really great mage-support

I feel like the characters have lost their little quirks and their color as the series progressed, like the whole team name dynamic has no value in the series at this point. Like Blake has a dark past and has the most combat experience, but now she is arguably the weakest of the team and seems to always be outmatched by herself, also her sword keeps shrinking, it’s like a dagger now. Weiss has lost all of her indignity and finesse with combat and became a battle mage. Ruby doesn’t run at threats like she used to and especially with her semblance changing she’s not being the genius she was in the first season. Although it is tied to the plot, I do miss Yangs confidence and her little temper that wasn’t only accompanied with her semblance

@@Alb410 well, the dynamic of the show has had them in a constant state of warfare and life or death recently. So I figured that the fading in their quirks was correlated into them all diverting into a soldier like mindset(which is what ozpin wanted to avoid. Ruby’s silver eyes were one of the first things ozpin noted to ruby when he saw her face, the bombshell blonde color of yangs hair, Blake’s bow, and Weiss attitude. These were notable features for them as children, but growing into the real world shows them that sometimes that isn’t enough to save you.(first collective outfit change was after the events of season 3; the first couple of deaths witnessed by the students in the show changed everything)

Sun's "Gunchucks" are by FAR my favorite weapon in the series, and it's absolutely a shame that we only see them used to their potential ONCE in the series, and the idea of gunchucks is just abandoned. I kept hoping for more of Sun and his fighting, but he just turned into "twirly stick" until he was tossed to the side for Bumblebee

Sun Gunchucks are super cool.. unfortunately they are apparently also incredibly difficult to animate so even by V2-3 you hardly saw them used. Really has nothing to do with any ships or whatever. Monty was apparently working on a rig for Poser to make them easier to animate but well he died and I doubt they could of stayed with Poser all that long given that by the time RWBY started it was already going out of usage by most 3D animators (and now I wonder how long they can stick with Maya given Blender is far more promintently used nowadays)

​@@thewalrus45 I know some of the other animators back then kept asking Monty to switch to Maya since it was easier to work with and it would be easier to hire more staff. It's apparently rumored that he had planned to switch after Volume 3 anyway. I think RT will stick with Maya since it's still the industry standard for most "large" projects and they probably have a lot of tech dept since they've been using it for almost a decade now. If RWBY were just starting up today or they needed to drop Poser then yeah, they probably would have picked Blender.

@@jamesalexander5559 Oh yeah the Maya Switch was happening no matter what, that was decided months before Montys death but it was too late in the development of V3 already to make the switch for it so they decided it'd be V4 when they would switch. Quite a few of Monty's last few months of social media and stuff are... post about Maya cause he was learning it (this is one of the reasons he was resistant at first, he learned in Poser and Maya was mostly new to him) and in the process of importing all his old assets and rigs from Poser to it (and this is what made him decide to go with it when he learned how this was relatively easy to do) If Monty had lived.. V4 onward would still have been in Maya it just wasn't tenable as the project expanded to find the handful of people who A. knew poser and B. they could hire or do what they did with some of the people they got for V3 cause that's when the budget really got bigger: hire people trained in Maya and have them spend their first few months... learning Poser just a huge huge resource drain.

Being a longtime artist who dropped out of her art major, this is great animation for such a small team 😭😭😭 people are way too hard on animators at times. It takes forever to animate . . . The fight scenes are iittttt. RIP Monty. They did not do volume 1 justice with the fight scenes in the new adaptation.

I really miss the times where they paid attention to such stuff ... now its all just a shallow farce, it doesn't hit like the old fights and story anymore at all.. they keep ruining characters too for plot convenience sake..weiß never uses her glifs(?) anymore either, just that stupid summoning while standing around.. blake forgets constantly that she can do shadow clones, and we don't see yangs semblance anymore either.. even penny had to explain to ruby how her own worked like..ok.. ? sun is nowhere to be seen anymore since bumblebee is made a thing, as if he was never important either, neo became cinders pet because..? Its just so shit

Dude Roman was such a skilled fighter. Until that 1 hit Blake landed to knock him back he didnt take a single hit. Blocked Blake dashing around everywhere and he looks like he was having fun with it laughing and all. Then Sun jumps in with his Gunchucks and he blocks every physical attack and every single gunshot all with just a Cane. I wish we got to see more of his story. Like how Red vs Blue gave us a 3 episode Origin of Felix and Locus. I want to see stuff like that with Adam, Roman and/or Hazel.

I hope the anime captures this energy, The fight styles and intensity here was lost in the future seasons, Ruby’s use of her sniper to strengthen her blows, Weiss being a ballerina swordsman rather than a glorified mage, BLAKE dual wielding and being the most confusing/agile fighter in the team and yang being fast and explosive I rlly miss it a lot.
