Salem's leitmotif is the perfect villain ost. It makes her sound terrifying, and adds to the dread whenever she's on screen.

That version of Divide on the (waterphone? Chimes?) at 8:16 is imo the eeriest version of Divide we’ve gotten thus far

Sounds like a vibraphone to me. I don't think a waterphone be played chromatically.

If RWBY and Destiny ever cross over, with Salem as a boss… 21:13 THIS. I want 21:13, Extended as a full boss theme, and interwoven with Pyramind synths.

When the whale showed up I was terrified. This part should’ve lasted way longer than it did. All that build up for them to destroy it so fast. I was hoping they spent more time inside.

No its not, her motif is based on the song "Divide", which is Salem's villain song.

For Salem's Theme, don't we first hear pieces of it in V3C7? I want to say the percussion elements that I love about her theme are present there. Here's a link timestamped to the part I'm talking about: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5ikgIaYg71keLM
@Changyuraptor2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's a Salem thing. For one, the percussion doesn't really become a thing with her theme until V7. Since the only time it appeared beforehand was in the theme's establishment at the end of V3, I will guess that it was a moment where Alex looked back at all the previous times it was used in a "what else can I do with this" kind of way, found the percussion, and then went from there. Secondly there's the timeframe. The production schedule back in the V3 days means that the music for chapter 7 would've been done well before chapter 12, and maybe Alex didn't even know about Salem yet at that point. So yeah, I think the similarities there are most likely coincidental, BUT it is still possible that it may have been something Alex looked at when originally writing that final cue in V3.

@@Changyuraptor I think that, at least with how much it's informed Salem's V7 and V8 music, it's kind of "become" part of her theme at this point, whether it was part of the idea for that V3 bit or not. And with it being part of the Cinder backstory where Salem is first properly teased (tho there is a bit in V3C3, you could say), I feel like it's worth including to an extent. Not that it's my call, cuz it's not.
@Changyuraptor2 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, it's 100% an integral part of her music now, I've just learned to be cautious about retroactively including bits from the past because they sound the same/similar to newer stuff.
