The merge seems to be 3 things: merging of the souls, getting access to magic, and getting the collective memories. Oscar already had magic, now its memories. I don't think their souls have truly merged. Its the last step

bonus about the merge but this merging probably also forces Oscar's Semblance to be locked out/not gonna be unlocked.Conceptualy "Ozpin's Magic" is the Semblance he shares to him and this way it would either Locks Oscars Potetial for a semblance or take the Semblance and meld it to the Magic...

This was a good episode. And I like we get jaunes perspective in Vacco and learned more stuff of what he did with Alex and Louis before bad stuff happened. Over all, this was a good episode.

First off, perhaps I’m mistaken but I thought it was stated that when the merge happens Oscar will still be Oscar but just with all of the memories of the past lives. Next, I think Oscar brushing off that question about if they’ll make it is not necessarily him trying anything but rather when dealing with someone who is guarded because of trauma like Jaune if you try answering with “rose colored glasses” they’ immediately see through it and become even more guarded.

​​@@kidprime6863 at this point he should. He knew pyrrha for about a year of his life as a teenager. By v4 he'd known Ruby longer. By v7 he'd known Weiss, Yang, and Blake longer and by v9 he'd known literal paper people longer than her. Still being stuck on a girl who died decades ago(from his perspective) isn't remotely healthy for him mentally or emotionally .

I don't think the whole time travel thing will be an issue. Since the Rusted Knight was already in the story before Jaune met Lewis in the Everafter, that means we won't have any changes to history. At worst, this is just a time loop like in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, but on a larger scale. It would be interesting to see what Lewis did with what he learned from Jaune. Lewis could have been the first person to make mechashift weapons. To make it more personal, maybe Lewis was the one who originally made Crocea Mors.

New headcannon that Theodore (now we've seen him in Beyond) is a descendent of Lewis. Lewis's knowledge of the war and the future from Jaune could have help him set up his family advantageously to become headmasters.

That thumbnail was depressing. I see it as Jaune sitting alone at a fireplace, looking up to see the people he cared about, only for them to fade away. "*chuckles* I really am losing it, aren't I?" This episode had a beautiful message and it made me cry. I really loved it. Jaune and Oscar are my 2 favorite characters and I had never really considered how similar their situations were before this, but I totally get it.

I love that we got an episode that's a little more introspective, especially since that introspection is coming from Jaune, which makes the most sense to show given everything he's been through. It's nice that he's a little more hopeful at the end of it (despite every reason not to be lol), and the ending message of this episode is powerful. I can't wait to see the next two episodes! :)

I wanted to move this here since I just recently put it on episode 1. (I haven't watched the epilogue animatic or the beyond episodes, so I could be missing information) Something I just wanted to drop here as I haven't seen anyone cover it: Could the Blacksmith be the embodiment of the Relic of Choice? Hear me out. Cinder and Salem couldn't find it in the vault, no matter how much they searched for it. Ozpin was confident they could not and would not find it, and that it was safe. Ozpin knew the story of the girl who fell through the world very well, almost to heart. So does Oscar (but then again, most people know the fairytale in universe). What if that's where Ozpin hid it? The ever after is connected to the portal rooms by a technicality; same magic, same plane of existence so to speak. What if Ozpin had the vault opened, and then sent the relic and its spirit into the Ever After? From what we see of Salem's reaction, neither her nor Cinder know of the Ever After, and thus would not think it a possibility. Now onto the Blacksmith herself. She's the one that helps the inhabitants CHOOSE their new form/purpose in life. When talking with Ruby, we see her showing all the different choices Ruby could make to change her future. She does not TELL Ruby what to do, she guides her through her own memories and feelings, and tells her to choose her own path.

Maybe Lewis used his knowledge about the future to help team RWBY get to Jaune. That could be why he wrote the book (also including the book being in memory for his sister). That would be interesting

Vacuo wanted to fight back while Vale allied with Vacuo. Which ended when Ozpin, as the king of Vale, used the Relics of creation, destruction and knowledge to end it.

What Jaune experienced with Alex and Louie(not sure this is how to write his name) its a predestination event. An ocurrance of time travel thats necessary for the preservation of historic events. In simple terms it was always supposed to happen like that so history can go the way everyone knows, and whatever info Louie got about the future form Jaune he was supposed to know in order to do his stuff as it was supposed to hapen.

That could be a possibility. Which means Jaune played a part in inspiration of the hero that would eventually inspire all of his friends into becoming Hunters in the years to come. He created Teams RWBY, JNPR and everybody.

The relics must be brought together and the Brothers recalled. Salem needs to go to the Tree to get her broken heart repaired, and since she must walk the face of Remnant as long as it turns, the only way she can get there is if the Brothers take her, I think. Ozma created portals to the void to craft the relic vaults, so Salem or any maiden can as well. Also, that final idea of Oscar and Jaune, that it doesn't matter if they make it, applies to us the fandom too, in case another chapter of RWBY is never produced.

But at the same time, Ruby tells the Brothers off for starting this mess in the first place. They didn't even bother to understand what Salem had went through that drove her into revived her beloved Ozma. Instead, they just curse her with immortality. Not just because she meddled with fate, but because she made fools of the Brothers. Which is borderline petty. And when rallied humanity against them, they just wiped them out. Not just those by her side, but also those who didn't partake in it. It would even be nice if Ruby even chewed them out for planning to destroy the entire planet if Salem had won. Proving the Brothers just see them all as experiments and nothing more. Who's to say that if return and bless humanity with magic again, another person goes through the same problem Salem had and the whole thing starts all over again? Thus, Ruby would then say "If all we are are just experiments to you then we don't need you, anymore! You're just as flawed as we are!". This would cause the Brothers to realize that after looking back at it, Ruby is right. They made their creations clean up the mess they started and made them suffer for it.

@@jeffreysmith236 Point is the Brothers aren't true gods. They're just powerful interdimensional aliens who are god-like. (Emphasis on "-Like") By the end of the day, they're just kids playing with their toys in a sandbox. Once they're bored or if the game isn't fun anymore, they throw them all away and play something else. They're as petty as Greek Gods. Ruby has every right to chew the Brothers out because humanity only turned against against them thanks to Salem's manipulation. Humanity didn't turn on them out of nowhere and they know it. They only wiped all them out just to stop Salem. Which is very extreme even for them. Let's not forget that the task they gave Ozma was next to impossible. Rallying humanity against a common enemy to get them back in the Brothers' good graces. It's like they took inspiration from what Salem did. But she succeeded only because she manipulated them. They're making Ozma rally humanity to fight the unwinnable. This is all a game to them. I say destroy the Relics. The way I see it, Salem is not only doing all of this just to finally die. She doing all of this to spite the Brothers. Ruining the whole world they worked so hard to create just like how they ruined her whole life. She's trying to make them wish they killed her to begin with.

Something that threw me off was the retcon of the timeline. The Great War was about 80 years ago from the current timeline. If Jaune met Alyx and Lewis before that, wouldn’t he be around 100 years old?

Jaune met Alyx and Lewis in the Ever After. Time flows differently in the Ever After than it does in Remnant, and both worlds operate under different rules entirely. The perfect example of that being that Team RWBY was in the Ever After for a day or two but months have passed on Remnant.

So... we now have Volume 10 stuff for both Ruby and Juane. Ruby's after V9 was to become a reckless adrenalin junkie, and now we now that Juane is instead just out of place. So RT wasn't going to use a lot of time in V10 to to deal with the V9 aftermath and instead are doing it here.

What Jaune actually told Alyx and Lewis isn't completely clear. The only things we know of is that he is from Remnant of the future and some of his experiences, most likely what he'd been through starting from Beacon onward. There is a good chance that he didn't tell them any specifics because he wasn't sure how that would change how he thought the story was supposed to go. Telling them about the Great War or the immortal Grimm Witch trying to destroy the world probably would have made them want to stay in the Ever After.

Sigh And yet we won’t get a happy ending to this series now. I wish we could have gotten a volume 10 but I am not optimistic Maybe Lewis used that knowledge to help build the image of Hunters and Huntresses even if it was Ozpin that helped create it. Or used it during the war for some advantage even if it failed But I think Jaune understands that Oscar/Ozpin is not confident but also accept that just giving up does not solve anything. The Hope of that which has been, till the end, that’s what will motivate them all (although we won’t see it) But now I wish Jaune and Ruby had a scene, where they make peace with their fallen out and their flaws together, and where truly put word O/O said to heart and lean on all around for support, for they will fight together Even that is Hope And that’s what they’ll carry. Till they end.

Sooooo don't know if you know yet but it was confirmed during an rt stream the other day that volume 10 is seemingly back on. They confirmed they're working with partners for future volumes but they can't tell us who for a few weeks

Even if that will be a 3 years wait (who am I kidding, I cannot wait that long) But I am skeptic if I am to belive it. And if they are hush about partners then that makes it even scarier. heres to hoping something will be said and reported later.

I could see so far as possible jaune growth being back being his prime plus gain wisdom start by reflecting but major point jaune is similar between oz & salem as characters bet possible jaune talk Lewis may create safe guard only jaune possible pull off as last stand jaune might being join maiden squad in battle or shield town but image jaune will have chance show as support but feeling characters as jaune but jaune & ozscar talk end seem ozscar don't know gonna happen & jaune probably understand moment ozscar feeling about question so okay with half heart answer at moment said basic enjoy every moment felt at end by accident when salem call brother image death few might not consider aspect agree on but see ending point develop possible but idea lewis might leave gift for his friend in secret
