A finale with a huge lore drop. So much to chew on. So many questions to theorize for the future. So much fanfiction that will be written... *-Chapter 10: Of Solitude and Self* -RWBY quote of the chapter “I love you, just the way you are.” (Summer Rose)_ -Secret of the Rose So Qrow's words to Ruby about the mystery of Summer's last mission is confirmed, with more to the story revealed. That Summer deliberately lied to Tai and requested her former teammate for assistance. And naturally, Summer is not on the best terms with Raven, far more so than Tai and Qrow. And that shove on Raven's shoulder, the same gesture Yang gave to her before she retrieved the first Relic. Thinking back, it may be possible that Summer (and Raven) have travelled to the Ever After before and whatever Summer's plan is, it may be linked to it, needing Raven's portal Semblance to bring her there. And the last story Summer read to Ruby and Yang was the tale of the Ever After. But it may also be a strong indication that Summer did in fact die, likely in the Ever After (or one of the spaces similar to the Relic rooms). Of all the weapons presented to Ruby, the only ones she recognized was Alyx' knife, one of Penny's swords, and Summer's weapon. And both Penny and Alyx are confirmed dead, with their weapons left (Alyx) or dropped (Penny) in the Ever After, so Summer's demise could have been linked with the Ever After. Now the questions... What was Summer's ultimate mission and fate? Could it had something to do with Salem? If Raven did in fact, teleport to the Ever After, how did she do that given the nature of her Semblance? Was there someone in the Ever After that Raven attuned to? Or did her Semblance evolve beyond that limitation and she simply didn't reveal it to anyone? -Blossom Forth In the end, she chooses to be herself, with her mother helping her in two ways. One, through her last words of encouragement, and two, her actions showed that she had her own burden to bear, so much so that she kept it secret from everyone as humanly possible, primarily from Ruby. Whatever that secret is, if Ruby took her mother's identity, she would also have to bear a burden she would not be able to bear at the moment, and likely for good reason. That may also the reason why all the other weapons were too heavy for her. Personally speaking, while I wasn't expecting a massive change from her, I was hoping to something slight, like a physical mark or a slight change in demeanor or something. But then again, such changes should be gradual, as it is with growth. She is who she is; she just needed her confidence of self to be restored. Which she did, in an epic and nostalgic fight with a subtle _Red Like Roses_ to complete the scene... -A Graceful Exit It's good to see Jaune take up the role of the strategist again, inspired by witnessing the illusion effects himself to use the fumes of the tree leaves against Curious in order to separate him from Neo, who in turn, used her power to slaughter the cat (not exactly the best way to die). It would also be great if there would be a Neo short in the future concerning her background upon seeing both the portraits and the illusions of her family. And despite the terrible things she had done to the team (Ruby in particular), one can't help but feel sorry for her loneliness and hope that she'll be a better person when she emerges from the tree. Like Nora, she has to find out who she is without Roman. If nothing else, that's one less threat to deal with, especially given her massive upgrade in Semblance... -Leaving The Ever After Such a sweet and tearful scene of seeing Little, now ascending into Something, saying his goodbye to Ruby and teaming up with Juniper, to whom Jaune also had to say goodbye to. Kind of hope there will be a short of some kind of their journey together in the Ever After. They may even have a fairy tale of their own. The Mouse and The Deer... Surprised that they didn't go straight to Remnant, but rather The Blacksmith's shop. Interesting also was that the Blacksmith addressed Jaune first, telling him about Alyx' fate and give. It is, in part, what Curious said about the difference between Afterains and the people of Remnant as regards death, that why Afterains are simply reborn (unless slain by the Jabberwaky), those in Remnant do die, but are capable of leaving a small part of themselves behind. Also what is shown is that simple actions by those in Remnant have an even greater impact and change on the individuals of the Ever After than would be on Remnant. The kindness toward Little and the dishonesty toward Curious. Odd that Alyx' dishonesty was only because she wanted to fix the problems she had created and Curious was warped by it, not being concerned over reason so much as the act itself that changed him. -Origin of the Brothers Talk about a lore drop, that the brother gods not only originated from the Ever After, they were the first ones born there. Not too much of a surprise considering the world of RWBY, that many of the stories spoken are more true and historical than they know. And The Blacksmith explained that it was never a battle between two force, but balance and equilibrium, a trait seen not only by their physical appearance, but also shared by all their creations, primarily the people in Remnant. More questions... If they return back to the Ever After, where did the brother gods go? Is Remnant the only world they created, or did they go to create more, leaving Remnant on hold for the time being. Humanity was their masterpiece, but that doesn't mean that we would have stopped with their experiments. And what will happen when the Relics are collected? Pass or fail, will they return to the Ever After? -Not where; when. That last image alone leads to questions and thoughts for the future. How long were they there? I don't think it was a lengthy amount a time, but it would not be a surprised if it was a year or two. But long enough for the remains of the Atlas forces to be stationed over Vacuo. Not too a different scene from Beacon prior to the Fall. Has Salem made her move for the Relic there? And how much has their absence affected their friends? So much fanfiction will be written on this alone...

I’m hoping we get either 3 or 5 more volumes of RWBY! I’m also hoping in V10 we get a huge emotional reunion scene! I want Everyone (Oscar, Ren, Nora, Emerald, Winter, Willow, Whitley, Klein, possibly Teams SSSNN and CFVY and the Happy Huntresses) to give Team RWBY and Jaune a huge glomp of a hug like the one in Lost! And that Ruby and Oscar get a personal hug that’s not interrupted by anything (way to make up for Ultimatum)

I'm hoping for all of that in Volume 10, too, especially Rosegarden. But it's likely that's not gonna happen after what we've seen in Chapter 8. Neo probably changed all that and Ruby's gonna go through the trauma of unintentionally killing Oscar again. And Cinder's gonna take that away, just like she did Pyrrha and Penny.

So with this feel-good ending to Vol9, I can see things continuing in a downward spiral from Vol7 and 8. Remember that Tyrian and Mercury have been in Vacuo for who knows how long. IF we see Neo again, it'll likely be in a dues ex machina moment for some vital save for Team RWBY. I imagine that Vol10 will be the fall of Vacuo, Vol11 being Team RWBY confronting Raven and finally knowing what happened to Summer(as well as Salem getting closer to the relic that Ozpin/Oscar is hiding), and Vol12 being a final confrontation with Salem that ends in Salem collecting the last Relic, summoning the God Brothers that see Salem has learned nothing and is moments away from obliterating Remnant before Ruby(or possibly a talking Neo) convinces them of Not All Humans.

@@GraveDigger35 We can't guarantee Ozpin even knows anything about the Ever After, let alone that that's where they had fallen to. I mean he's familiar with the fairy tail of The Girl Who Fell Through the World, but when was explaining things to Pyrrha, either him or Qrow had mentioned that just as many Fairy Tales were true as they were made up. I think, anyway. As it stands, without either Ozpin or Qrow to assuage their fears, everybody thinks RWBY and Jaune are dead.

I think it's already evolved since Volume 4. She can split into three clusters now. If it evolved again, she might be able to slow down time for short periods of time.

When the Brother Gods left the Ever After, they left behind a powerful destructive force in the Jabberwalker and a creation to fix things, the Cat, which eventually broke under the pressure. When the Brother Gods left Remnant, they left behind a powerful destructive force in Salem and a man they tasked to fix thing, Ozpin, who is also breaking under the pressure. They don't have a great track record.

When Team RWBY went after Curious and finish them, all I can think in my head is "Ultra Combooooooo!!!!!!!" Also Ruby's plan to alert the world about Salem bared fruit after all. Even when she was attacking Atlas, Salem had the advantage of being anonymous due to non inter continental communication; now we have a Kingdom ready for her. Can't wait to see what Volume 10 gives us. Good day, everyone.

I loved the ending, The story of rwby finding who she is was something I'll never forget, yang and blake are finally in love, and the isekai plus the fight at the end was something special. But there is a new enemy know that is more powerful than salem and thats hiatus 😢

This could be a good set up for a third Team CVFY book that can show what was going on in Vacuo while Team RWBY and Jaune were in the Everafter. They could end the third Team CVFY book around the same time Volume 9 ended.

This was a good reaction and Volume RuBy decided to return as herself We finally see Summer and what her last mission was and Raven has a explaining to do to RUby Yang Tai amd Qrow about this Neo is free from the Cat who is killed by the Jabberwalker and Neo decide to leave her old life behind and Stay in the Ever after amd ascend and I guess she might be reborn as the Mad hatter the god Brother were born in the Everafter and they made the world the way it is and they craeted The Curious cat and The Jabberwalker as the guardians of Creation and Destruction in this World and Little had been reborn as Somewhat Jaune has returned to his younger self by The help of Alyx Dagger and they have arrested at Vakio which is were they Are needed the most I think time won’t have passed much since in a lot of times were Characters have gone to another world to return to their only to find they haven’t been gone too long and when they meet up with the others I want to have Nora see that Yang and Blake are now together and for her to turn to REN and say I told you so they were more than Friends and I wonder how Ruby will feel seeing Oscar again after seaming killing an Illusion of him because of Neo.
