The people calling Pierrot cheap for "spamming" Light of Virtue make me laugh. As a Remy user myself, I can confirm that what Pierrot does here is really damn hard. Gatling off charge projectiles like that is something I can rarely pull off, and even then I can only fire off maybe 3-4 at a time before screwing up.

That Remy was absolutely amazing, I've never seen a good one before... And I expected RX to destroy him ~ RX is one of the best players I've seen, amazing match on both sides.

Best remy player I ve ever seen. Amazing charge partitioning by Pierrot! No one runs rx's urien this close, especially with such lower tier character!
@BanditXVIII10 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen someone make a 5-5 LOOK like a 5-5 in the face of RX, and here this Remy is being a boss. Keeping RX in space check, then at 1:36 he partitions the "Wall of Virtue" to keep RX pressured similar to the Aegis with the mix up risk of an EX LoV killing a parry or putting the timing of said parry at risk. RX is a beast, and Pierrot must have played him many times over, because it looked like these two had a lot of respect for each other in the sense of their play-styles and the way their characters are handled by one another, I love watching this.

my pleasure. anything to help folks improve a bit here or there. to back-track a little, i think (feel free to correct me if i'm wrong) even though the A. Reflector won't reflect the Denjin it will nullify a few hits, making less to parry or get hit by. still, you're probably better off just jumping it or parrying it in full. by the way, all: if you ever get the chance to play in Japan take it! i'm in Shinjuku right now and these guys are phenomenal!!!! talk about a crash-course...whew!

I personally love watching Pierrot's Remy. I really like how he instantly pulled out a LOV machinegun once RX was in the corner. I really need to work on doing that... that's the machinegun's best use is when Remy's half-screen and the opponent's in a corner. It's pretty hard to escape and if you manage, you risk taking anti-air damage. It's pretty nice. :D

It's amazing that you can learn so much from a video back in 2006. This just shows how good these guys are for their time. Nowadays, Pierrot is considered one of the best Remys and RX is raping with more midscreen unblockables. I wish they would play once more to entertain and give us another youtube video to learn off of for the next two years.

@MechaCrabtree Anytime you push a button, you control space~ all fireballs are in street fighter, is a way to control space. To dictate a specific space, is zoning. Dhalsim and Necro for instance use their long arms, much like other characters use fireballs. This is why Dhalsim has a slow fireball, not a fast one. Not to spam~ but to zone. To control space.

I am a Remy player in 3s, well learning anyway. The charge partitioning displayed here is truely incredible. Been practicing loads and still can't get it anywhere near as smooth. As to the Twelve player that beat RX, his name is Yamazaki, and yes, he's the best! There is also a video I think all 3s fans should see. It's Chinta's Ken beating RX's Urien AND KO's Yun back-to-back!

@WinnGale yes but there were also people who played mid teir to low teirs like Ruu Namajinn and Vanao (Ryu) RX Pierrot Senaka (Urien) K.O Roshihikari (Yang) etc... no ive never been to any 3rd strike tournaments but io have played the game before and i have watched almost every 3rd strike match there (tournament and casual wise). you wont see people using Hakan or Sakura or Blanka in SF4 tournaments.maybe 1 but thats it.

the big difference is that in sf3 has parrying, which makes projectiles much less effective. No parrying and no airblocking in sfiv makes projectiles much more effective
@Nick_Bot15 жыл бұрын
A high LoV and a low LoV are treated as two different projectiles, you see, so you're allowed to have both out at once. The trick is to charge back, then tap forward and back+attack to start charging the second one while you launch the first disk.

0:58 I wasn't aware that you could throw another disk before the first exits the screen o.O Is there a trick to partitioning his disks? I charge back, fire the first while pushing forward, and go back instantly and do the next. Is there more to it? Or does it have something to do with the timing of the initial charge?
@Gankula15 жыл бұрын
Wrong, High LoV and Low LoV are the same projectile. He never has 2 on the field, the second one is either parried or hits the invisible wall behind the target, Pierrot throws out another one. He's just so damn good at the timing you'd swear there were 2 LoV out on the field.

RX and Pierrot's charge buffering/partitioning = godly
@Scuddi15 жыл бұрын
You can fadc in SFIV to get around projectiles. There is just SOME risk involved where as in 3 I guess it is more just a way to slow someone down and it still does enable zoning. It isn't like you keep moving forward when you parry. It stops you in place and the pressure and psychological aspect still exists. Parrying is interesting, so is FADC. Neither 'ruins' SF, just different ways of redesigning the basic formula.

@derekmok it requires half of your super gauge to focus cancel a special move, so although OP in the right hands, saying that it has no penalty is obviously wrong, as even with a full meter, a character can only do it twice in a row, then they are totally drained.
@AegisNeglector17 жыл бұрын
hell yeah, shinre! i spent today in Tachikawa, and i got some badass footage of my friends playing KoF 2002! as soon as i get back stateside, i'll compress it and post it. i'll send you a personal message when i get it figured out -- just make sure to watch for it in your mail box. peace, brother.
@TheBlueMoosh14 жыл бұрын
@ColgateNacho Who doesn't benefit from canceling a move that would otherwise be punishable? FC to grab works for everyone as well, which can easily catch the opponent off guard. What characters are you thinking of? Certainly, FC is harder than simple parrying, so you may feel like a character can't make use of it when in reality you may simply not know how to.
@TheBlueMoosh14 жыл бұрын
@derekmok Parrying doesn't cost half your super meter, which is the penalty of using a focus cancel. Focus canceling is also harder to do than simply pressing forward or down at the right time, so calling it "dumbed down" isn't accurate at all. Every character can take advantage of focus canceling, not just shotos. Everyone has a move that they can "just cancel with no penalty". Guile, for example, can cancel is flash kick.

this is what i loved about the 3rd strike scene as opposed to the SF4 scene (not bashing SF4 i like that too just no where near 3rd strike). people used to play with everyone from low teirs like Sean Elena Remy Q (Kuroda). these days SF4 is all about Ryu Ken Sagat and all top-teir characters.

@DarkswordSerathus17 жыл бұрын
its a combination of buffering & partitioning. yeah! LoV is done by buffering but you can only do the SPAMING with PARTITIONING. remy can only throw LoVs with 1 second point something intervals by partioning with the last LoV... the 1st 3 LoVs are buffered with 3 second charging time, but the 4th will take the PARTITION of 3rd LoVs charging time so you can throw it with 1 sec interval.

Yes and no. Urien is extra-susceptible to those endless Lights of Virtue because of his big body, bad air-to-air, weak jump, and need to charge his moves. All of Urien's anti-airs need time and distance to execute, and Remy's super-low jump and strange air attacks make it hard for Urien to nail him. Chun-Li, Yun, Ken, Ryu or Oro wouldn't have to work nearly so hard, but Hugo, Urien, Alex and Necro would have problems.

You do realize though Urien used charge moves as well, not as much as Remy, but still, it makes for an interesting matchup. That being said, tier lists don't matter. The Remy player was skilled enough to make it close, and in the end that's all that matters now.

@lostn6515 жыл бұрын
"Everyone has a preference." They do. And so many players prefer Chun Li for effectiveness. If you play to win, why not "prefer" a better character? Assuming equal practice time, it will increase your chances of winning. Unless preference > winning at all costs. And you know what, I agree.
@MadDash8416 жыл бұрын
Wow, I wonder why I don't see more people using Remy in tourneys. He's like Guile and Sagat (both high tier characters) rolled into one, with a more defensive nature in his projectiles because they are charge moves. It seems he would be a good character :/

Overal: Extrmely good match on Remy's part, Urien was decent but could combo very well.

Wouldn't not playing cheap like Pierrot does also not automatically mean you aren't playing to win at all costs? Sure you're still trying to win with all costs as Urien, but if Chun is higher tier, then wouldn't practicing with Chun to the exclusion of all others increase your chances of winning than by playing as Urien?
