Cinderella is the only good one tbh it felt more of a homage to the original while adding more context and scenes between her and the prince I wish they would just stop them now. This is my favourite of the live action Disney remakes by far. It's the only one to feel texturally cinematic and not a stage show at Disneyland. It appears to be more influenced by romantic paintings of the era rather than only just its 1950 animated counterpart. I would credit this to the director, Kenneth Branagh. The film is colour coordinated within an inch of its life with Cinderella always in blue, Lady Tremaine in green, stepsisters in pink/yellow, the king in red, etc. I even noticed certain shapes assigned to different characters namely circles are always associated with Cinderella (certain doorways, the staircase to the attic, the attic floor, etc) and triangles for Lady Tremaine (the way that her costumes frame her, windows/curtains around her and when she emerges out of the dark while holding the slipper in her hand). I could go on and on discussing the filmmaking in this movie but this was truly a hilarious reaction video. You go, Rebecca! 🙂

16:54-17:00 so i just looked it up and the designer’s name is sandy powell. she was inspired by the 19th century and 50s. she used 8 layers of silk in shades of blue, turquoise, and lavender. it also has a petticoat with many layers of tulle, 4 miles of thread, was built on a lightweight crinoline cage. she also designed cinderella’s wedding gown and evil stepmother’s winged white dress

This the only disney remake I can happily say is better then the original! They add more to the characters storylines and Kit and Ella have one of the most perfect meet cutes of all time!!! Every single actor in this movie killed it! Even cate blanchett as lady tremaine, who we are supposed to hate, ATE it!! I also adore that Kit has a relationship with his father( the scene when he is laying next to his father wrecks me!😢😢) And the scene were ella runs into the king and tells him " your son loves you very much" after spending 1 night with his son! Thats the moment the king understood how much they cared for.each other, that she could know kit so well after one night.!! Ugh i could go on and on!! This movie is pure perfection!!

I have to disagree that he fell in love with her face. That conversation with the horses showed her character and mentality and personality. Obviously he could see she was pretty but its only when she started talking and he was amazed at what ahe was saying and how she represents herself that he started becoming interested and was blatantly staring at her. On rewatch you can see the prince only starts showing interest and engages with her once they start talking. Its a great scene because if this is love at first sight they did it right.

Others note in actuality, Love at TRUE sight. The chatty exchange demonstrated her different perspective and resilience- not just in riding in a skirt Bareback and Tackless, for facing situations with Courage (and kindness.) Not just another $/social climber.

Lady Tremaine is written well here in a way that makes her anti-Cinderella; she couldn't overcome her grief, and resents Cinderella for trying. Thus the "young, innocent, good" statement shows her envy of the situation.

14:23 as much as I love the blue I wish they hadn’t digitally altered the color in the movie to make it so vibrantly blue, I prefer the more subtle silver with shifting hues of blue it’s breathtaking!

I think they decided to make the blue more vibrant due to it standing out so much during the ball scene, which i think would not have the same effect if it were more of a silver. Just a thought tho.

As much as I love the revamped ballgown for Ella (especially the blue color and butterfly accents), it was odd to see Helena Bonham Carter portray a character who wasn't evil. For her to go from Bellatrix Lestrange to Fairy Godmother was a surprising casting choice, but she plays kooky characters as well as she plays psychotic ones.

I love the Cinderella story no matter what version it is it's just one little bit of that just always felt off to me which was if her name was technically Ella and they called her Cinderella why would she keep the name like I understand obviously she is kind it's just not what it makes sense to keep it so that's why in my mind I switched it to around and make Cinderella her given name but she just goes by Ella with very close friends and family that makes a bit more sense to me in my mind so that's what I did in my version of the story if I had the chance to make a version of it.

And also I really hate how everyone just assumes her dresses is blue it's not technically blue it's technically silver in the original cartoon what Disney made a long time ago it's just over time everyone just assumed it was blue because of the coloring they did in the movie when it showed her dancing with the prince at night which everyone knows in cartoons when it's night time everything looks blue no matter what color it technically is.

This movie is beautiful but nothing will ever top Drew Barrymore and Angelica Huston in _Ever After_ for me. If you haven't watched that one yet, you absolutely should. It's wonderful, and the ending is such a delicious comeuppance without that unrealistic "I forgive you" bs.

_Ever After_ is not a fairy tale movie. Whatever that movie is it's visually dumb, and it feels like it hijacked the Cinderella fairy tale in order to tell a different story that has nothing to do with the Cinderella story. I don't want anyone associating the Cinderella character with Danielle de Barbarac. She has to be the worst Cinderella to ever exist. She's fine as a protagonist of some random movie, but specifically for Cinderella, she's awful. Who the hell thinks Cinderella is the type of character to hit and punch people and play in the mud? So stupid.

Dull and unimpressive visuals and even dumber dialogue, a dying old lady telling what turns out to be a pointless story to the Brothers Grimm, a main character who does random stuff like play in the mud and swordfighting for no reason, who lies about her identity and is not above resorting to violence, there's some crud about selling people, random sexism and classism, there's a masquerade party instead of a ball, which the main character doesn't even wear a ball gown to and is very short lived? WHAT THE HELL IS ANY OF THIS SHIT? If you want to make a Cinderella movie, make a freaken Cinderella movie and tell the story of Cinderella. Don't make some random movie that just has Cinderella elements in it, and claiming it to be a genuine Cinderella adaptation. There's a difference between a movie inspired by a fairy tale and being an actual adaptation of it.
