RYA Yachtmaster offshore exam. Part 3 - The Yachtmaster exam

Congratulations, young man. Well done! I am doing my YM Coastal, not for professional reasons but more for myself and the knowledge and to prove to myself that I can do it. I am 57 now, have my own boat, and do not necessarily plan to go professional in boating. But hey, one never knows, right? ;-) . I passed the theory a week ago, skippered a week of training last week, and will now study and enforce my theory knowledge until my practical exam comes up in October. Your video was very helpful in understanding the flow of such an exam. Although I will do it on a sailing yacht, these have a few things in common. What a lovely comment, thanks! Well done for passing the theory and good luck for the exam in October. There are a few other videos out there that are more detailed on the sailing exam so if you haven't already, do a search on youtube and I'm sure you'll find them. They have some good info about what, and what not to do! I look forward to hearing how your you get on with the exam. Fingers crossed for you and best of luck! 👍

@@GREEN.I.E hey, nice of you asking. :-) Unfortunately, all four candidates have failed that day. This has never happened before, and we were equally surprised and disappointed, as were the school managers. I will likely try again in spring and in the meantime address the gaps that were identified in my case (which in some cases, weren't really justified imho. But, examiners have the last word, don't they. Hope all is well with you, and your adventure is developing as panned. ;-) Cheers, Frank

I'm sure the examiners have their own individual way to assess, so hopefully with a fresh examiner, and the extra time to practice, you will get the pass. Good luck! Yes all well here thanks, the adventure continues. Aiming for the MCA Master 200 next, and possibly a new job in Florida is on the cards. Exciting times :)
