Incredible song and performance, superb work from Ryan and the band! Filmed at Pukkelpop Festival, Belgium, August 17 2017. Huge thanks to the original ripper and to the broadcaster.

He's had at least 30 and no not even close to his greatest. When you consider Whiskeytown....maybe top 50

@@ShawnAustin-ub7pk Subjective. Personally find his first couple of albums a bit shit.

3 bar progression works so well, this riff is amazing. Not sure I know any other songs that do that. Any other 12/4 examples anyone? :-)

Any update on this matter?

The guitar melody goes for three bars before it starts again. That's 1234, 2234, 3234, 1234, etc. Usually riffs go for 1, 2 or 4, 4/4 bars. Prog utilise 6/4 bars to great effect but then its 2 or 4 bars before the riff starts again. This 4/4 song riff is three bars long or 12 quarter notes. The tension to not resolve it to a predictable even measure works with the emotion of the melody so well. We could always ask Ryan Adams what he was after!

We're talking the outro instrumental section of course. The rest is 4/4.
@terrybartholomew7311Ай бұрын
@@glennrochemusic sure, but that doesn't make it 12/4 - 12/4 is a time signature and refers to notes and divisions in a single bar
