This song hits my heart like sledge hammer too the chest. Made to many damn mistakes in life, hurt to many people and let my kids down to many times to count. Went to prison for 8 years, buried my wife and many friends along this lonely road. Got out of prison reconnected with my kids met an amazing woman getting married and now have 9 years clean and sober. We bought a house and a few Harleys doing good for ourselves but most of all my kids still call me dad and tell me they love me. Head up! Shoulders back! Never give in!

I read he wrote this song when he was 18 years old. Reading his life story and what he has been through;with parents who suffered through substance abuse problems(both have passed since), riding the texas rodeo ciruit and traveling through paris france practically homeless- all before 22 years of age; is nothing short of remarkable. A lot of musicians sing the life of rough, rugged "country". Ryan Bingham has lived it. I wish you well on your journey man.

Started drinking when I was like 12...Joined the army in 2005...Saved my damn life...Grew up in a family full of alcoholics...It wasn't abnormal to be my age and drink a beer as my dad would gladly give me one to have someone to drink with. I got out in 2016 and became an alcoholic. Ptsd is bad, my wife finally had enough one day after many nights of us not being able to sleep. I got sober, after almost drinking myself to death. I downed a 30 pack and a bottle of jack...I wanted to die...Don't make the same mistake

A cute girl who wants to know where a poor man lives and then move in with him and call it "home"??? wow, she surely found Jesus. I wish she would have talked to my exwife who expressed her love for "church" as she left the state after 14 years of marriage, with the nestegg of $250,000 I built for our retirement. Love the Lord in your heart, but keep your trust in your brain.

When I die, Lord Oh, won't You put my soul up on a train Won't You send it southbound Give a cool blues man name 'Cause I've been lost on them back roads And many times, I've gone blind Losing faith in my family Had drew me out my damn mind But on the south side of heaven Won't You take me home 'Cause I've been broke down for so long And Lord, it's getting cold I've been a desperado in West Texas For so long, Lord, I need a change For ten long years This old place ain't seen a drop of rain Now the wind blows everyday, Lord Oh, like a desert snow Like a lost bound train Running on cocaine and out of control But on the south side of heaven Won't You take me home 'Cause I've been broke down for so long And Lord, it's getting cold Long down the Louisiana byways Lonesome highways roll on Oh, won't You take me where the poor man lives It's where I call my home Can't you see that breeze Nothing but a change in pace Money can't buy my soul 'Cause it comes from a hard earned place But on the south side of heaven Won't You take me home 'Cause I've been gone for so long And Lord, it's getting cold But on the south side of heaven Won't You take me home 'Cause I've been gone for so long And Lord, it's getting cold

Are you kidding me?! I've been searching YEARS for this song and now I stumble across it without particular intention?! I remember seeing this on TV back then, nearly ten years ago, being one of the first country songs I perceived as such (not much contact with that type of music over here where I live), and obviously both the singer and the song/video have been stuck in my head since then. But I couldn't remember neither his nor the song's name, and it has bothered me for such a long time. And then, just minutes ago, that name (and thumbnail) strikes my eye between all those other videos and I instantly recognized it. Man ... how happy I am now. This just made my day.

I remember it like right now, it was January 12, 2023, at around 11:33 in the morning. I was in my business in front of my computer, listening to this beautiful song, serving two clients, when I got a message on WhatsApp. It was from my mother telling me that my uncle had died. The catheterization procedure they performed on him had failed and there was no turning back. At that moment I felt nothing but a great shock, but no pain. That was until I saw him a few hours later when I had to carry his body from the ambulance to the morgue so my aunts could prepare him with the best suit for the coffin. It was one of the most shockingly sad moments I have ever experienced. From time to time I come back to listen to this song and it is impossible not to think of my uncle. Time flies, one gets used to it but the pain of that loss never goes away. Rest in Peace Elias José Rodriguez, I miss you every day and there is not a day that goes by that I don't think about you.

This song reminds me of my life the oilfield life that it is. I’m from East Texas. And let me tell y’all it’s a lonely life, I’ll travel in my Chevy pickup all the way to West/South Texas depending where they send me. New Mexico, Louisiana. I love it though. Nothing like turning up this kind of music and just going where the wind takes me. But there’s nothing like coming home to both of my baby girls ❤️ y’all stay safe out there.

heard this song the first time ever, going to Asheville NC, from Franklin North Carolina yesterday morning and I was going to visit my little boy in the hospital, and for some reason, this song give me hope. I went to him and I was broken down mentally, and lonesome, and I went where I felt at home, with my little man in my arms.

This video looks exactly like where I live and where i've grown up now. The first video I ever saw of his, and I knew from that moment i'd love his music. But over the years now, i've come to realize how much I truly relate. The best music to me writes my soul and heart. I often run out of things to say, how to express how I feel, why I always just let music speak for me. Not everyone will listen though. Not everyone's spirit will find the truth. Too many people lost in greed, power, hatred, and everything in between. But i'll always be grateful for this music. Even this ends up being the last words I ever type. Just know some of us truly believe and have been inspired by honest, down to earth music.

My daddy Frank passed away when I was 16 years old. (He was my step father but he fought for us when the state tried to come get us). Jeff Loyd, his best friend, promised daddy Frank that if anything ever happened to him (daddy Frank) that he (Jeff Loyd,) would watch over mama and us four kids. Jeff had a motorcycle accident on Wednesday, I am praying that everyone prays for him, he has so much going on (sedated, fractures, ventilator, brain swelling, and a bunch more. .... This song reminds me of my life as a ranch manager. Most days I wish I was back to working livestock and driving big ol feed trucks 14-18 hours a day. It is a lifestyle that only a few love. I'm one of them and it was ripped away from me by greedy bastards and an administration that hates the people that feed the country.
