Hendon Hooker sitting behind Goff could work out really well too.

You can longer be patient with the way their contract are set up. You have 4 years and a 5th year option with a major cap hit. It wasn’t like the old days where the deals were 7 years. To get your $’s worth you have to start them sometimes before they’re even ready.

Ryan is spot on. I have no sympathy for the teams that rush the process. I mean why rush? The fans will still come out if there's a down year that let's the QB mature.

Well we are living in a time where we are now more accustomed to instant gratification. Because of all the changes with cap and various other factors the window of having the talent to win long term is also smaller.

I don't know why Ryan Leaf wasn't paying attention. Brad Holmes said Goff was his QB all along...🤔🤔🤔🤔

Relatively speaking, the NFL pays rookie quarterbacks cheap. If you don’t win a bunch of games in the first three or four years, you’re traded or not extended. Gone are the days when they pay rookie quarterbacks, such asJamarcus Russell or Sam Bradford, big money before they even take a single snap in the NFL.

Don't forget that, the dumpster-fire organizations generally get the 1st picks. So guys like Mayfield, etc., are stuck on teams that haven't won in forever (for lots of reasons beyond who the QB is).

Exactly! Bad teams draft high; bad teams also make bad choices, in terms of draft picks, development, coaching, culture, etc. So, why is ANYONE surprised when highly drafted QB's struggle in their early career?!? Because they are (almost) always being forced, due to their bad draft luck, to play for sh**ty teams!

Teams are going to be disappointed when their first time QB has a season more like Bryce than CJ. Expectations have gotten out of hand

you cant all be like stroud...stroud had an above average line ok weapons and a run game...most rookie qbs have crap lines crap weapons and their OC doesnt know what a run is and that is why they are picking 1-5....

Stroud needs time to settle in. He had a good rookie year, but to truly know what he'll be long term.. he needs time for evaluation. Typically i wouls say after the rookie deal you'll have somewhat of a good idea how theyll perform.

Having "only" 3 to 5 years to prove yourself and lock in a $100-200 million contract doesn't sound egregiously unfair to me.

I think Nix and Penix should be able to start right away. Williams of course will start right away. Daniels if picked #2 has to start right away because Mariota is the best of the rest of their QB's. As for McCarthy and Maye they should be sitting for at least most of the season if not all of it.
