The Bill Walton chat was one of the most sincere things I’ve seen in a bit. Took me back to Colin’s early ESPN radio days tbh. Learned and also “felt” more about Bill, from the obviously sincere and heartfelt knowledge and feelings that both Colin and Nick have, albeit from different eras and perspectives.

It’s sad that we only get this sort of commentary when people have fallen. I’ve always liked and respected Bill and felt he’s left off of a lot of basketball topics (and this is coming from someone who is in their late 20s). I do appreciate Nick and Colin showing love to him at this time.

What else the celtics need to do to earn the respect they deserve form the media? They play whos in front of them and they consistently win by 15+, and when they arent blowing a team out they are closing out a tight game in the clutch. 12-2 in the playoffs. Tatum and Jaylen just averaged 30ppg each in the ECF. They have 2 lockdown guards. It just has to be bias because what am I missing? Yet all I hear is this team is gonna get stomped on by the mavs or wolves.

I mean, he want like 7 years where it was “always something” with him from 2016-2023. He’s just now settled in after getting the contract he wanted and an ideal roster to his skill set. The thing about Nick Wright’s review of Kyrie while in the wilderness is he missed promising resigning with Boston and going back on his word, really for no reason both ways. Not being a good connective leader on that team despite basically demanding that situation. He also took random unexcused games off with Brooklyn. That’s not to mention being injury prone for many years (not his fault in theory). I think Kyrie is an example of how many chances you can get if you’re good at what you do and well-liked.

It would be worse if he did watch it at the time he tweeted/posted. I agree with Nick, I think he agreed with what the title implied and didn’t realize what the book was saying about um, certain people. It happens to even smart people like Daryl Morey. He tweeted in support of Hong Kong thinking China was gonna let it go…China cut off telecasts for awhile costing the NBA over $500M. I’m sure he didn’t bargain for that. Same deal with Kyrie. I always say, never write a check on someone else’s dime. Had the NBA not taken the stance it did against Kyrie they faced huge sanctions and backlash.

Because he came out and apologized to China like a trained dog since the nba told him to. Think what you want, Kyrie 100% knew what he was posting. @swpdisciple
@swpdisciple 5 ай бұрын
@@lilxtra6211 I think you’re going a different way with things that isn’t what I was saying and again, actually makes it worse. I don’t want my comment blocked so I can’t say everything explicitly. I’ll start with Daryl Morey…I think it’s 100% correct that he thought he sent a throwaway tweet, not realizing that there would be blowback. I don’t think the NBA cared per se but they do care about the $500M lost! Not only that, along with Covid, that reduced everyone’s salary (I hope you know that)…players received pro-rated salaries that season. That was published in sports illustrated/ESPN that season. That’s very real. I think he thought he was sending a hippie type “free Tibet” tweet and it was no big deal. Clearly China (where the NBA gets a lot of its revenue) thinks “stand with Hong Kong” is a huge deal. I don’t know how else to put it or what ethical resolution you’re looking for. Morey basically dissed an employer of the NBA. What did you think they were gonna do? Saying KI didn’t read the book is the lightest explanation of things. Are you willing to say he endorsed the book because he believes in what it says? Listen, I grew up in black barbershops, I’ve heard the were the real Israelites stuff since I was a little boy. I’m 44 now. We all just treated it like it was your kooky uncle saying whatever and kept it moving. My belief, is KI looked at the role and assumed it stopped there. I don’t even think real Israelites have a huge issue with that. The book also went on to say (again I’m parsing my language) that the J’s are a nefarious group and an invisible hand kinda steering things in the works for the worse, the Holocaust wasn’t what it was recorded historically to be etc…basically all of the tropes you can find readily at any hate group meeting. I’ve gotta believe KI is not of that opinion. I think that’s what Nick Wright was trying to say. It wasn’t about his intelligence, though I’d add KI comes across as someone who thinks he’s smarter than he really is, flat earth notwithstanding.

I love Bill Walton!! He’s so great, and he truly was one of the two best centers in history of college. However, he is not better than Akeem Olajuwon, and probably never would have been even if he hadn’t gotten injured 😎

I love how Colin will say something in passing like it’s factual. “Michael Jordan went through a bunch of coaches, he just stayed in Chicago”. He had 2 coaches before Phil Jackson. And he famously was against firing Doug Collins because that was his guy. So…what are you talking about, Colin??

David Thompson was the greatest college basketball player, who beat Walton in the final four in double overtime with a cast of misfits. Look up an interview online where Walton himself talks about David Thompson, if you think I'm crazy.

Nobody remembers that Walton really shot 24-25 in that game. Three baskets were disallowed because of the no dunk rule.

Colin was trying to say Walton was outspoken and we loved him. Kyrie has been outspoken and the media has hated him. I wonder what’s the difference between the two?

Strong disagree on 2011 Mavs not having a top 5 guy. Dirk was a top 5 guy. I’d say 2014 spurs should be on that list. Duncan was great for his age but not top 5. No one else on that team was top 5 either as kawhi wasn’t close to his prime yet

A lot of these talking heads keep asking the question who is guarding Luka & Kyrie? Besides the fact that Boston probably has the best options available to guard those guys, the bigger question is who is guarding Tatum & Brown plus the supporting cast? Kyrie is not handling JB & Luka cannot stop Tatum. So if that ends up being the matchup we'll see I guess. Even if Luka & Kyrie outscore Tatum & Brown by a small margin, the Celtics have 4 other guys who can give you 20+ on a given night. Who's guarding those guys? That'll decide the series.

Nick continues to advance this moronic argument.. you ever think these guys get statues BECAUSE they win championships??? It’s a self fulfilling prophecy. Although these losers will probably still hate on Tatum even if he wins a chip.

I stood 10 toes down with Kyrie on his Vax stance. He’s maligned in the present and he took the arrows but history will treat him kindly in hindsight. He was on the right side of history
