I vote for Mat Hoffman's world first back flip 180 aka flair which he did on a super skinny ramp in the UK in the 90s. Flairs became very common since 00s but everyone does them super low and more like a weird corkscrew thing to make it infinitely easier. I wanna see someone soar up high with a straight back flip, THEN turn the 180 just like mat did.

Heck, Joe Hurlbert is rarely mentioned, but he did some gnarly ramp and spine tricks. I rode with Joe Hurlburt and Dave Freimuth a bunch back then as well as Tom Haugen. All right here in Minneapolis, MN. Tech on ramps was such a big thing back then. Nice work Ryan! I would love to see riders bring a lot of technical stuff back to ramps. Best way to do it, build up to it. I'm an old skateboarder, and I ride roadbikes. But I still get down, and watching this video reminded me of my life about 15yrs ago. My approach was, as Ryan's was here, to build up slowly. Knowing then you can do all the parts of the trick, needing only the right moment to stitch it all together. Hats off dude for really applying a work ethic to this "someday" trick.

Same with Dave Osato. Those Canadians. I remember here in salt lake, watching Shawn elf Walters doing x up 50/50 grinds. I had to learn it! And did. Having your bars backwards is tough. Nothing seemed tough for Enns on a miniramp. He was ahead of his time. Shout out to Nyquist! Utah misses you and bmx!

Yo this video is amazing, I know that exact feeling of going for a trick for so long that you make up vocabulary for things that you shouldn’t do and thing that you should do. When I was learning tooth pick something that I kept saying to myself is “the carve” and hearing Nyquist say the same thing was dejavu almost for me when I learned how to tooth pick.

Barspins, nosepicks and toothpicks was "my thing" back in the days. Maybe not the best on those tricks but still very satisfying to pull off. I love this stuff. My brother was a bmx rider. Won the race of champions 9 months after he started riding. I was a skater. Took one good nut shot on a bike and decided I was better on a board. Got sponsored, but I quit when everyone else did in the late 80’s. Then picked up wakeboarding my 20’s. During the winter, picked up skating again to keep my balance in check. Stuck with it since. The stuff I can do at 44 is mind boggling to most. A ton of old school flare but I’m not eating Cheetos on a couch. Still can’t nollie to save my life, but got a 270 shove it to 50 grind and 270 shove back in on a mini on lock...Awesome Ryan, still sad anytime I hear about Mira...
