Nice car, as always Ryan. The level of meticulousness here is stellar, and sets an example to others. One thing I often wonder though, is that with all the time, energy, money, and heart that went into this car, what would you do if you were ever involved in an accident with this car where it was damaged pretty bad? Such as someone hitting you from behind or the side at 20-30 MPH? Would you just have it rebuilt?

One thing I would like to do is bluebus but my car came with no dsp mid, low ike and no tel an R/T buttons on the 4-spoke steering wheel, so, can I use bluebus with all its features? How can I summon siri or answer or reject calls. I don't have the blue connector on the trunk just cd changer. What should be done to get those buttons working cause I tried to fit them but it was a complete failure - the entire left panel not worked...I know in the US most of the cars came with tel or prewired but not in EU so if you ever came across this retrofit please post it

Thank you very much for your kind words and support! If you have an IBUS car (3 and 6-pin CD changer connectors) then you can do the BlueBus. @E39Source5 жыл бұрын

@rsporsche5 жыл бұрын
@@E39Source Maybe not in the US? My June '99 euro M5 has a three pin that is controlled by a temperature switch in the e-box instead of the DME. I have the 8F code though because the DME is not seeing a fan on the respective pin. Not sure if i should code out the error or wire the fan to the DME and drop the temperature switch.
@E39Source5 жыл бұрын
@@rsporsche Maybe the temp switch is bad? Or fan, or both?
@rsporsche5 жыл бұрын
@@E39Source I replaced the fan, and I think the original was fine too. The temperature switch also checks out as fine. Thing is, the fan isn't connected to the DME so there's no way for it to tell if it fails. I wired the 3 pin fan to the DME and no more 8F code but not sure if I should make that a permanent solution or not. Do you know if the DME hardware/software is different across different years of the M5? I'm wondering how the software knows whether a car has a 2 or 3 pin fan in the first place? Curiously the BMW ETK lists the 2 pin fan for my car, not the 3 pin but I think that's a data entry error on BMW's side. The WDS shows the 3 pin fan though.
@E39Source5 жыл бұрын
@@rsporsche BMW has data errors all over the place, unfortunately. If the code went away, I'd leave it as is. There were numerous different software versions, so it probably just tries to decide on the fly which fan is installed and use that. The signals may be sent for both fans, actually.
