Wow the wind is really going! Makes it more exciting. Great views from Clingmans are pretty rare I think. Nice update!

That deer is there all the time, I swear. All last April when we were there and again in July. How funny. Great videos BTW, keep up the outstanding hike!

Hey Ryan, just wanted to let you know I've enjoyed watching your videos so far. I'm following you and one other guy who are through hiking this year. I'll be driving up from Louisiana to do the NOC to Fontana Dam section in April and then then back to do the Smokies in May so watching your videos is keeping me pumped about that. Thanks a lot!

I saw you at Fontana. I was finished with my section hike for the year. The 3 guys at the end of the video were at the Fontana Hilton. I was driving home and I saw you about to cross the dam as I pulled into the parking lot. Have a fun and safe hike.

It's funny you say that. I think last year almost all hikers on youtube reported from there in the rain, wind, and foggy but it's one of those iconic moments on the trail. A March start keep the Virginia heat down but is sure looks miserable at times. Keep up the good work and thank you for the update.

18 miles in the Smokies -- you guys sure seem to be making good time! Have a great time in Gatlinburg . . .

your hike will be over before you know it. Definitely knocking out the miles. You want to be home by August? Good luck, looks like fun, except for the frantic pace.

great video! glad I'm not starting until late April, the Smokies in March are a cold, slick viewless mess. have fun in Gatlinburg!

+Alyssa Thru Hikes we actually got a ton of great views in the Smokies. Only had about a day and a half of rain/fog.

Glad I stumbled on to your trip. Great vids! Are you shooting in 1080? Are you holding the camera as you walk or is it attached to your pack? I'm hiking next year with a GoPro. I'm also interested on how you uploaded to the net...was it in town or from your phone? Awesome!
@RyanJohnsonAT20169 жыл бұрын
Hey James, glad you like them. I use a Sony as100v camera and I switch between holding the camera in my hand or attaching it to my trekking pole using a stick pic. I upload the videos to my iPhone, edit them using KZbin capture app, and upload when I'm in town with good reception.

Thanks! I'm hooked and tune in every day to see if there is something new. I also enjoyed your gear review. Jim.

@RyanJohnsonAT20168 жыл бұрын
+Michelle, That One Girl. Not much, I'm just about to trade out my boots for my trail runners. Will possibly send home my hiking gloves and maybe my sleeping bag liner. Everything else I'm keeping for a while!

GREAT videos!!! It's great so see the trail from my couch! But, they make me jealous!!! I want to be out there! Question: Did they go thru your gear at Neal's Gap? Also, there is a guy that started a SOLO SOBO in Dec that you will pass at some point soon! He has a blog, therealhikingviking.com! His name is Tom and he has a HUGE beard! One more thing, why was the flag at half staff? Mrs. Reagan?
@RyanJohnsonAT20168 жыл бұрын
+K Knit nah, i didn't really need to go through the gear shake down. I will definitely keep my eyes open for the real hiking viking...his Instagram pics are amazing!
