great and informative video, thank you for taking the time to tell people your methods as a pro. and not to come off as bashing, but this video strangely reminded me of taekwondo: the matches between black belters was so much more intricate than people with blue or red belts... but, the matches between the latter ones looked so much more fun and exhillirating. well, to each their own. to each person their own way or level to find their fun and comfort in, because once feelings of DEFEAT and frustration come into play, the fun melts away like snow in the sun brother. you do look like you're still really enjoying what you're doing though, so keep that up man!

Dear Ryan, congrats on your channel! It is really nice to see someone do something he really likes. I’m sure everybody enjoys watching your videos as much as me. I would like to ask one questing regarding the inserts of my B74.1. After going through some setup sheets to see what most people do in an astroturf situation, i came through some cases where people choose not to use inserts in the front wheels, so i decided next time to have two different pairs glued and ready to run, one with and one without inserts, just to see the difference. What is the theory behind this approach? Thank you for your time!

Manoli Patsaros it's not hard, it might be intimidating at first. So you won't misplace your screws, get a piece of cardboard or foam board. Try to draw/trace the chassis of the car. And put a dot where the screws go, then make on for the top chassis, a arms, shock tower. Etc. So when you take the rc apart, each screw you take out to put it into the board.
@christopherlastname7638
@christopherlastname7638 4 жыл бұрын
It not hard at all just pay attention and try not to wait to long in between taking it apart and putting it back together just so you don't forget how it goes! Your rc should have a diagram and that will tell you what goes ware ! The best way to learn is get a kit and build it yourself! Just about anyone who is in this hobby will help you that's the best part of rc !

Your videos are incredible. I've been out of the RC world for roughly 15 years and am now getting back into it with my son. Question regarding burning in prep, is it possible to do this method with mini pins? I'm running mini-pin tires on carpet and it seems like this method may be tough to use for that style of tread. Or maybe I don't need to burn prep in for carpet racing? Thanks again!

@brown55061
@brown55061 4 жыл бұрын
I realize a lot of fast guys do this but why not setup your car with a touch softer springs or use a softer compound tire to start with? Cutting down your tread right out of the box means you just took 2-3 more weeks of racing off that tire. Just treating the tire to make the rubber softer should help a bunch, regardless of that 1mm of extra tread. I guess it also depends on the track surface. For loose dirt I can't imagine taking more tread off helps in 2wd.
@brown55061

Any ideas how to do this to a more knobby tire like traxxas truck tires? Seems like the scuffing would be harder than with these smooth tires. I just want to clean them and get all the compound off that they pick up from the track.

Rookie question. Once you glue your wheels to the tires and you run your tires to the point there no good, do you toss the wheel and tire both or do you just peel the tire off and re use the wheels? I havent seen anyone really talk about this. Normally I just toss the whole thing because getting the glue and rubber off of the sidewall is a total chore.

@SlimTheGoat
@SlimTheGoat 2 жыл бұрын
Be cool to see more compounds and tire thickness. Having a much thicker tire would give you the ability to actually cut the rubber to desired thickness. Back in my race car days on dirt I had all sorts of tricks like cutting camber into the tires. The rc prep they sell ain't the best sauce you can get, my hint is the worse the chemical the better prep it makes. Application makes a huge difference too...amount, heat, prep inside and out, using clingwrap, using a torch etc etc. The one thing I learned about racing is tires are 100% the single most important factor in achieving fast and consistent lap times. Spec tire classes are cool but open it up to a full open class.

I'm starting to love your videos Ryan. Very direct and informative, yet on more of a personal level vs a professional one. Great job! My question is, I run a 2wd backslashed slash on a well kept, loamy outdoor track. I typically run more of a pin style tire, ex. Diamond backs on the fresh track to badlands if there's a lot of people and its torn up a bit. Now I normally just clean my tires every so often with simple green and that's it. Is this prosses something I should try or is it even doable on a more pin style tire or is it worth it at all at the outdoor track? PS My grandmother was a Harris too, also named my son Ryan.. Odd lol

Can this be applied for carpet tires

Thankfully Companies like Raw Speed started offering slicks for clay which require little to no prep before you take it to the track. Get those and save yourself a lot of time and hassle.

The tire feels softer because its hot.. It will go back to normal after it cools down. Do a test of prepped vs unprepped tyres.

Let's say your getting 5 or 6 full rounds of practice. Would you skip some of this process and let them break in naturally to preserve the tread?

oPAULo711 you could definitely do that! Mostly user preference here 👍

Positrons or Inversions would be good Proline tires as well. That being said, Dirtwebs are my go to. Can never go wrong with them!

Is tire prep important?? I've recently got into RC, I have a ECX Roost 1/18 and I have no means to enter any races or anything like that. It's simply a new hobby, I've made some tweaks to my RC already, but I lack knowledge to the RC world.
